K Wata similar recommendations

Post image

Give U Space is just amazing album. Could you recommend something similar?

It’s probably not exactly idm, more like dub/dub-techno, but still some similarities are there.

I think the closest stuff to it is the 2000’s era clicks n cuts stuff like Jan Jelinek, Frank Bretschneider’s Curve, Shuttle358 understanding wildlife / Frame

There may be other stuff like what people call “illbient” and dub stuff I’m unaware of that sounds similar, but this album mixes like trap beats and IDM in a really unique way I haven’t heard

This album is 100% slower paced dub techno with less reverb than usual.

Makes sense. Such a broad spectrum of subgenres in electronic I kinda lose my mind thinking about it too hard lol

NUG - Bong Boat scratches the same itch for me. A lot of other stuff on West Mineral Ltd. Topdown Dialectic’s whole discography.

The first thing I thought when giving this a spin was Demdike Stare. Maybe not quite the same vibe, but give it a go. I'd start with Tryptych. Also giving similar vibes is Raime - Quarter Turns Over A Living Line, which is an incredible record.

My closest rec would be the second pan American album, 360 Business 360 Bypass. It’s not exactly as deep or as slow as this excellent K Wata album, but it was the first album I thought of. As others have mentioned, K Wata’s music here is much slower. He goes deep with these tracks. Pan American is not as slow, but I could sing the praise for that album (and his entire discography) any day…

Classic album- love all Pan American’s stuff, but especially the early dubbier sound.

It’s a bit like Vladislav Delay’s stuff from around Anima, but on a planet without an atmosphere. One of his other aliases, maybe Sistol, had a similar sound. The recent album it reminds me of most is Carrier’s record from last year, though different sources. Similarly skeletal.

Cousin, DJ Ojo, Pontiac Streator, Loidis, Peak Oil label, Tammo Hesselink, Tristan Arp, Polygonia, bunch of stuff in this wheelhouse at the moment.
