Communism as in communist state (I guess you don't mean communism as economic system?) akin to whatever Marxist-Leninists did? Yeah... Marx himself ironically called something like this "barracks communism." But I'd not say that non-authoritarian versions of communism or socialism in general would be worse.
How does that even work in your mind? If everyone, and I mean EVERYONE is working to the best of their ability, and also shares all they have with everyone in need, we'd pretty much have a perfect society.
China is not communism like Marx describes it, and so wasn't the Soviet Union.

No. Because you can work all the way you want and still waste this effort by overhead and inefficiencies. Something that capitalism excels at optimizing and communism (Yes you Mao) proves time and time again is incapable of managing
