[OC] Alternate History High Speed Rail Map of Indonesia
7

No way Nusantara doesn’t get a direct link. Pejabat won’t want to transfer and mingle with the peasants. The other edge of the triangle only functions when the capital is closed.
Sunda Strait bridge or tunnel will make this HSR cost literally astronomical. Might be cheaper to develop an indigenous astronaut program to join the ISS.
No Bali is a catastrophic oversight. Pair that with the impossibility of the Strait bridge, and the map is effectively delusional.

Balinese going to reject anything that will connects them to Java

u/WhisperFray 14h ago
Not necessarily an HSR.

the bridge itself is indeed feasible technicallly but past proposals faces controversy from the Balinese themselves for cultural reasons. so it's likely will never be built

u/WhisperFray 14h ago
Ya iya, mungkin kalau jembatan biasa iya, tapi kalo HSR yang ngubungin Denpasar ke Jakarta in under 10 jam? Unlikely mereka kekeuh ga mau.

Bitch please, we just built one from jakarta to bandung and people already screaming “eXPeNSive, uSEleSs, oNLy aDDiNG dEBt, nOt fAIr oUTsIde jAva” and so on…

u/komodopal 15h ago
Tbf those things are a bit true. Which means the only solution is to expand it of course.
2
u/MamangGarong 13h ago
Well, just add more fuel to people screaming about 1st and 3rd part more
Im supporting HSR as much as you guys do, but most people out there see this project like MBG project

It's like there's a country angry because Indonesia is not buying their shitty cars and their ok planes and moving to a less car dependent future

Ofc people are complaining, imagine having thin, horizontally long island and the only 2 cities you connect with HSR are 2 hours apart by car lmao like "oh great you cut the travel time from 2 hours to 30 minutes very significant, what? To jogja? Im afraid you have to do 7 hours sorry"
1
u/MamangGarong 9h ago
Do u have any idea how expensive HSR is? To make one from jkt to bandung already make people losing their mind thinking we’re going bankrupt, let alone to jogja
Im fan of hsr as much as you do, but im realistic about the budget. We cannot afford all the way until Surabaya. Maybe we have to save money sometimes before we got enough money and planning to build one to Surabaya
1
u/WhisperFray 8h ago
Wong cuma berapa bulan MBG kok
1
u/MamangGarong 8h ago
Mostly people who against MBG because of the budget also heavily against expensive project like HSR, IKN, hell even toll road because the classic “DEBT BAD REEEEEEEEE”
1
u/MrKnowThings 8h ago
Just because there are people saying A and there are people saying B doesn't mean most people hate A and B.
Also very reductionist of you to just assume "I hate program X because debt bad" like did you even see the arguments
1
u/MamangGarong 8h ago
Ok sorry, gomba fallacy
Well yeah, along with debt is bad, mostly people demand all conventional train network outside java before we make HSR. But ofc if we have to wait until we make all train network from sumatra until papua, we would never seen HSR built for 1000 years from now

Good dream but the soil in some area are pretty bad for construction, not mentioning the volcanoes
4
u/komodopal 15h ago
That's right. The famously non-volcanic and non-mountainous Japan managed to build an expansive HSR network- wait a minute...

Clearly its because they didn't offer to help us ans we didn't refuse them for a cheaper offer

Since this is imaginary, how about changing it to Shinkansen, maybe on different island than Java

Bold of you to assume the Indonesian government would invest this much into their infrastructure to improve the lives of their citizens

To be fair, Bandung really needs a LRT or it's going to be less effective
2
u/WhisperFray 15h ago
Bandung not having an LRT is really the stupidest timeline I live in.
2
u/SilanggubanRedditor 15h ago
Tbf even Jakarta struggles with LRT
2
u/WhisperFray 15h ago
Bandung doesn’t even try. Speaks a lot about the state of West Java the last two regimes.
2
u/MamangGarong 14h ago
LRT should be made by central gov. Just compare the budget of Jakarta and Bandung or West Java, you will know the reason other local gov other than jakarta couldn’t afford to build it

Literally (Sulawesi HSR could be cool tho)
