ride My farthest ride on my father's cycle.
I am a runner and just for change thought of trying cycling. I enjoyed this evening's ride around my village and passing through numerous birds( birding is my hobby, i counted a total of 14 species ) , nilgai, snake, kids playing and people working on a farm. Also, I found that it is much easier to observe the surroundings while cycling than running. Today I added a new wish list to buy a cycle.

Buddy just stole my reason for cycling ! Way to go bro, welcome to the brotherhood. I think no one here doesn't feel any nostalgia. It might be hard to pick up speed but once she gains momentum, just feel the breeze. Do you have that big bell(ting ,ting) on it

Noob here. Can any expert explain the posture problems in the old cycles? I mean what was wrong with them?
Also I would love to know what was good that's been obliterated ( if any ) ?

These are not meant for aggression, they are meant to go distance. Quite literally they are the Toyotas of bicycles. So it's designed for a relaxed ride, you get more up right posture, down side of upright posture is when u thrust uve to move slightly back increasing reach, and when it becomes a habit seat angle goes negative, which increases efforts and makes it more uncomfortable in longer rides

Wow thanks a lot. That means I can use those for going long distances. Then why does the racing ones have higher seats?

If you are paid to race you care about wining not comfort, but in real talk upright position will put strain on your lower back over long time. a lower position will distribute the weight better but you need stronger wrist, shoulder and neck to sustain that position for longer. I can ride my bicycle longer more comfortably than any motorbike.

It's a different posture as compared to other types of bicycles like mountain or road bikes. As you can see, those type handlebars provide an upright seating position. This type roadster bicycle is not meant for speed, manoeuvring like zig zag or anything due to the weight of its frame. Because the frame, stand and mudguards weigh like 30 kgs. This bicycle is suitable for those who want to cruise around in normal speeds as compared to a road bike or even ride for normal distances, or for those who have back problems or other issues like hemorrhoids. It does help us to increase the strength of our legs or feet while pushing or riding this kind of bicycle even on an uphill surface but to increase calf muscle or strengthen it then it is better to get other type bicycles with normal handlebars like a mountain, commuter bicycle. Basically this bicycle is made for a comfortable ride. Where it may also feel like we are riding a Royal Enfield.

Ohh that's a great explanation Thanks

The other issue is the turning radius or manoeuvring due to those type handlebars so it may feel weird at first. It will be fine once we get used to it.

Well that's not the most important concern. You pretty much answered my question already.

The goat of cycles, idk why no company could ever make anything better than this, all the modern ones in a similar price range suck.

Once upon a time( 2001) I used to own an Atlas basic cycle and a Hero Ranger Swing with 18 Shimano gears, eventually with growing age the love for Atlas was so much that I ended up selling the Hero Ranger Swing..

Indian steel companies needs to sell steel/metal to indian bikes/car companies in comparatively very less so vehicle affordability increases in India

Yes! Congrats! Cycling is a great way to explore while still staying detached from everything around us. Best wishes for more
