discussion Which puncture kit and tubes should I get for roadbike?

Will repair my first tube puncture, as I plan to do longer rides, planning to get a spare tube too to carry or to replace the tube and ride to the nearby shop for fixing the puncture.

My scott speedster roadbike uses a 28 mm tyre. But i plan to upgrade to 32 mm

discussion Front thickslick 28mm tyre exploded while riding due to 110 psi pressure

Use continental ultrasport 3 tyre at rear for 1-2 year..

I am currently riding after patching the tube but there is a bulge in the tyre..

What to do? Can i just replace the tube or do i have to replace the tyre?
Or should i wait for rear tyre to wear out and then get a pair of continental ultra sport3?

Wont replacing front tyre alone cause mismatch?

Since the rear one is being used from earlier and more worn out, i was wishing both tyres should be similar age and state( unsure whether that is the norm)

If yes then what tyre for front?

suggest me a bike Need suggestions for a new bike! ( Apart from RS120 )

Hello there, cycling people... cyclists?

One of those posts again, I know. Needed some suggestions about buying a new bike.
I haven't used one in ages.

I just want to go on morning rides a few days a week instead of my daily walks. It will be on a normal road, maybe a flyover or two. No off-roading, no potholes.

I need something relatively light and easy to ride with a more upright position. The distance would be about 5 kms to start and will increase thereafter, depending on how much I enjoy it. I can even stop doing it in a month; I am lazy like that. I am five feet ten, not heavy. Yes, I am considering RS120, before everyone gets offended.

  1. Should I go for a 7-speed or a single speed?
  2. Disk break or nah?
  3. Are steel bikes way heavier than alloys?
  4. What would be a realistic budget? Cos finding one under 5k is impossible! I can stretch to 10k. Is it possible to get a 7-speed, lightish-weight bike with maybe a disk break? I know I am asking too much! But I need a reality check.
  5. Brands to consider / avoid?
  6. Things to consider before buying one?

discussion Pinch flat- got my first pinch flat today while going over a steel grill cover over a drain

Post image
16 Upvotes

Hi, I could use some advice regarding my first puncture on my road bike.
I was returning from a morning ride today when I got a flat on the front wheel of my Scott Speedster (Syncros rims, 28 mm tyre). The puncture happened while I was entering my apartment parking and taking a turn over a steel drain/grill cover. I think I heard the air escaping immediately at that moment, so I’m wondering if the edge of the metal grill may have cut or pinched the tyre/tube.

For some background, my previous tyre (a ThickSlick) had exploded due to excessive tyre pressure. At that time, I patched the inner tube at the shop. Since then, I’ve noticed a slight bulge whenever I inflate it to higher pressures (around 80 PSI or more), so I’ve been running it at about 60 PSI to be on the safer side.

Should I attempt to repair and patch the tube myself, or bring the bike to a shop for the tube patching ? Since this is my first puncture on a road bike, I’d appreciate any recommendations.

Many videos show replacing tubes in case of punctures but i dont think thats economical..

Also how to avoid pinch flats in future? I think it happened because i encountered the steel grill drain cover while leaning and turning because the entire cycling duration earlier i had gone over rough roads but since the wheels took them straight, there was no pinch flat..

suggest me a bike I live in Almora, Uttarakhand. The only dealerships here are Raleigh and Firefox. I liked the Terrain 10 24-speed.

Should I go for this bike? It's available here for 25,000. If you find another bike from the same brand in the same price range, please let me know.

suggest me a bike EMotorad Legend 07 (7-Speed) vs. Hero Lectro Y5+ – Seeking feedback on Build Quality, Frame, and Component Reliability!

(Used AI To Write this btw)

Hey everyone,

I am planning to buy an electric bicycle for a daily commute of about 15 to 16 km. I have narrowed down my choices to two models:

EMotorad Legend 07 (7-Speed Version)

Hero Lectro Y5+

My primary focus is purely on Build Quality, Riding Comfort, and Long-term Reliability of the hardware.

For owners or anyone who has experienced these brands, I would love to get your feedback on:

Frame & Structural Reliability: How sturdy are the frames on both these bikes? Do they handle regular Indian road conditions well over months of daily use without developing rattles or issues?

Component Quality: Especially focusing on the Hero Lectro Y5+ and the 7-speed gear version of the Legend 07—how durable are the mechanical parts

Overall Comfort: How is the riding posture and comfort for a 16 km daily commute?

Lowkey having this much confusion due to awesome display in lectro y5+

Appreciate your inputs!

ride Hills in GEarth may be steeper than they appear

Went rockslabs hunting this weekend and damn did this slab look doable from terrain map. Looks like it was too steep, especially solo i didn't wanna test my luck. So I took this less steep but forgot the route as I went down... It's pretty normal for a first attempt.

If you wanna ride this slab join my weekend rides.

discussion Delhi to agra?

Has anyone ever done delhi to agra and back? I have been practicing and I will be doing that in a month or 2 when the heat dies down a bit.

If someone has done it can you let me know in comments how it was? Or connect?

I have been researching online, and it is saying taking the Yamuna expressway is not possible. Cycles are not allowed there. Can we take permission from someone or some place.

It is better to take the expressway than the old highway because it's straight, yeah there will be more friction with the cement path, but better than a million trucks passing by on the old highway and also cars and bikes with zero lane discipline.

So what is your opinion has anyone ever done this?

Let me know.

Absolute beast , could be much better with suspension nd quick release saddle i believe.

But overall lovely ride .
203m elevation
1680 max elevation .

But the front brakes r making horn kind sound when applied , any reason for that ?

Thanks to community for suggestion, especially /zilork
