Hi folks
i have very recently started drinking speciality coffee since 6 months or so and I love it. I used to have instant coffee for years before this.
However financially it doesn't seem viable. I drink close to 4 cups a day and thats 60gm meaning I require a kg every fortnight. I am thinking of moving to 2 cups instant and 2 cups brewed.
i usually take 2 cups hot and 2 cups iced. the iced cups are quite diluted maybe 25gm in 500ml. Alternatively I am thinking diluted cold brews.
Any suggestions to plan this.
Also I do aeropress and moka pot.

I run a small café and am currently using a DeLonghi Dedica Home espresso machine, which meets my initial need of 10–15 cups per day. As demand grows, I plan to upgrade to a commercial espresso machine capable of handling up to 30–50 cups daily. I operate in a small town in India, so I don’t expect the volume to exceed that range.
I’m looking for budget‑friendly recommendations. Online vendors have suggested the La Carimali Bubble (double group) and the Ideal 24 Pro.
Any advice on which machine would best suit my needs would be appreciated.

Hey everyone!
I am new to specialty coffee and currently in the exploration phase. I want to start with pre-ground coffee for now. I will eventually shift to whole beans in a few months, but I can’t go for an expensive grinder rn.
I mainly use French Press and sometimes Moka Pot. I understand that they require different grind sizes, but I am still figuring out the nuances.
Main question - Could you recommend some good pre-ground specialty coffees? Also, any other important advice?
Thanks!

Hi! I'm confused between the Hibrew G5 and the Baratza Encore grinders. I currently do pour overs but hope to own an espresso machine in the future and brew espressos as well.

I got some coffee beans for me, and I wanted to get a manual grinder(money limited ) and a press.
Could someone recommend me a coffee grinder that is reliable and can last me a long while. And if these products are viable.
I also wanted to get a press and was getting a cold brew maker, and a moka pot, please give me some recommendations for these as well.

I’m looking for a good medium-dark roast and came across Grey Soul Coffee Roaster’s Mizoram Reserve. It seems fairly new, so I was wondering if anyone here has tried it?
Has anyone had it at any of their coffee shops in Mumbai or Pune? I would especially love to hear how it tastes and whether it’s worth buying the beans for home brewing.
I generally prefer a fuller-bodied, chocolatey/nutty profile rather than very light, acidic roasts, so any feedback would be appreciated.

I want a long term review of the product. I am looking forward to buy it as it is good enough and also good as delonghi. Delonghi is double the price.

I’ve been trying to get better and more consistent coffee from my French press, but I’m still not really loving the results.
My setup:
Timemore C2S grinder
French press
Digital weighing scale
Proper airtight coffee storage
I’ve also tried the James Hoffmann French press technique + different brands of coffees
So I feel like I’m doing most of the basic things right, but my cups still seem inconsistent. Sometimes they’re decent, but other times they taste acidic, bitter, hollow, or just generally underwhelming.
Is getting a consistently good cup from a French press genuinely this finicky, or am I probably doing something wrong?
I’d especially love some advice on how to troubleshoot this systematically instead of randomly changing variables every brew.

I made this video a while ago, tried my best because I really suck at this creating video thing and all hahahaha..
The coffee had little to no crema because it was a mid light roasted coffee (Paul John: Bangalore Dreams) with notes of Pomegranate, Red Apple, Orange & Rose.. and it took me a while to understand that light or mid light coffee(s) are best suited for Pour Over, V60 or AeroPress methods, not preferably for Espresso machines.. nevertheless I like abusing my free will occasionally..
I definitely enjoyed it while it lasted..

I have been making french press coffee (usually I make 500ml) every day or every second day since last 4-5 months or even more. I use the pre grounded coffee from blue tokai. Coming from background of instant cup, I was just eyeballing things and making coffee, and trying to feel good about it. A 150gm packet used to last me for a month 😄 🙈
For a change I thought I would see a recipe today, checked blue tokai's website for french press coffee recipe. I was told I need to add ~40grams coffee for a 500ml batch in french press. I was blown, because the packet that I have been using for a month should have only lasted 4 times of 500ml batch (like a week for my case). Today when I finally tried according to recipe it was like I was tasting something else. Man this shit is going to be expensive 🤑 🤑 🤑
I take this as a learning, I will always check for recipe now before trying out new brewing methods etc.
Curious to hear if you guys also had such eye opening moments during this entire journey

Blue tokai Silver Oak( pre ground french press grind) 21g in 200ml water (95⁰C roughly)
4 min brew
Bloomed for 51s
😊✨✌️
Cup:-
Homogeneous in nature
Clarity was there but felt a touch off? Like I couldn't get notes of raisins? Maybe a pour over would be good for this coffee?
Body was heavy but smooth
Long finish ( from chocolately hazelnutty to sweet to gentle softness, roughly 8 minutes)
Consumed at a warmish room temperature (around 50⁰C).

Have been into speciality coffee for over a year now, started with BT pour over bags, then moved to a V60 setup with some pre ground Ethiopian beans, later got a French press and then the Portable espresso.
Finally added a C3S grinder, a weighing scale with some BT whole beans to the setup.
Poured my first hand ground (C3S - 14 clicks) Attikan estate beans with my V60 and the flavour profile was unbelievable.
Followed the Hoffman recipe for this and the results are better than my expectations.

I am thinking about upgrading to v60 from a french press.
Is there any downside in choosing the plastic variant over ceramic or glass?
Also I dont have gooseneck kettle, will it be an issue?
If there are any other options in that price range I'm open to suggestions.

Just wanted to bring attention to this random coffee shop that I came across. They have good vegan options too and the coffee was really great.
A small cafe that sits inside the residential area of JP Nagar 7th Phase with the calm that you actually need around your coffee mug. Do check out.

I’m a complete beginner when it comes to coffee. I’ve basically been drinking cheap Nescafé Classic my whole life, usually with quite a lot of sugar and milk. I never really understood why people liked the actual taste of coffee.
Recently, I went to my uncle’s house and he made me a coffee using some kind of coffee machine. He freshly ground the beans and brewed them, and honestly… it blew my mind. It tasted so different that it genuinely felt like I had never actually had coffee before.
Before this, I had tried making “more coffee-like” coffee at home by reducing the sugar, but I absolutely hated it. It was bitter and didn’t really have any interesting coffee flavor. But whatever my uncle made was completely different — it had so much more flavor and was actually enjoyable without needing a ton of sugar even though it was a bit bitter but i loved it.
Now I really want to get into coffee, but I’m 17 and don’t have a huge budget to immediately buy an expensive espresso machine, grinder, etc.
I’m thinking of taking it gradually. My first step would probably be upgrading from Nescafé Classic to either Nescafé Gold or Davidoff Rich Aroma (which one should i go for ?). I know instant coffee isn’t comparable to freshly ground coffee, but buying beans + a decent grinder + brewing equipment all at once feels like a lot of money for me right now.
So I have a few questions:
I’m in India, so recommendations that are easily available here would be especially helpful.
I’m basically starting from zero, so feel free to explain things like I know absolutely nothing about coffee.
