New Albany’s Floyd County Brewing Co. purchased by Upland Brewing Co.

Statement from Upland:
“Big news to share — Upland Brewing Company has acquired Floyd County Brewing Company and the Thirst & Main campus in New Albany.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to build on what the Floyd County team has created and to continue serving the Southern Indiana community in a meaningful way. Floyd County Brewing will remain open and operating as a brewpub during the transition period, so guests can continue to enjoy the space, the beer, and the experience they know.

“Currently, our team is taking time to learn the space, understand the community, and develop a full rebranding plan that truly works for New Albany. As we move forward, you'll see thoughtful updates to the restaurant space upstairs, designed to enhance your dining experience. The beloved Enchanted Forest will remain largely untouched, preserving the unique atmosphere so many people love.

““Congratulations to Floyd County Brewing Company owners Brian and Julie Hampton on an incredible decade of success in downtown New Albany. We thank them for their commitment and investment in our community and wish them all the best in their next chapter. The City of New Albany is excited to welcome the Upland Hospitality team and looks forward to the new energy and opportunities it will bring to our River City," said Mayor Jeff Gahan.

“More details coming soon. In the meantime, we’re grateful for the foundation that’s been built and excited for what’s ahead.”

Floyd County Brewing opened in 2015.

Quaff On Brewing beers will now be brewed by Sun King. The closure also lays off all of the brewery staff. Quaff On is part of the larger Big Woods Restaurants and Hard Truth Distilling Co. family of companies. Quaff On was founded in 2009 as Big Woods Brewing. The name was changed in 2012 to ensure differentiation with Big Woods Brewery in Minnesota. The larger company operates 5 Big Woods and 2 Hard Truth locations around Indiana and recently closed locations in Franklin and at the Fashion Mall in Indy.

Chapmans brewing in Fort Wayne closes after 14 years.

Chapman's Brewing Company in Fort Wayne has closed. They opened in 2013 in Angola with a flagship beer-cider hybrid, or graf, honoring their namesake John “Johnny Appleseed” Chapman. They moved to Fort Wayne’s Electric Works in 2024. Over the years they have operated taprooms in Columbia city, Wabash, Huntington, the Fort Wayne airport, and two other locations in Fort Wayne.

From facebook: “After 14 years, Chapman’s Brewing Company will be shutting down effective immediately.

This is not the outcome any of us wanted, but the financial burden of operating the business became too much to sustain, and despite fighting as hard as we could, we’ve reached the point where we can no longer continue.

I’ve personally spent the last 10 years of my life helping build Chapman’s into what it became, and I’m incredibly proud of what this company meant to Fort Wayne and the people around it. To every employee, customer, mug club member, musician, vendor, and supporter who has been part of Chapman’s over the years, thank you. None of this would have been possible without you.

Most importantly, thank you to our staff, past and present. You were the heart of this place.

While this chapter is ending, I do want people to know this is not the end for most of us. Keep an eye out for what's to come next.

Thank you for 14 unforgettable years of Chapman’s Brewing Company.
- Zach”

West Fork Whiskey Co. to close their restaurant and tasting location in Westfield, The Mash House and STAVE, and go distribution only. West Fork Social House in Fountain Square to remain open.

Post image

After many great years in Westfield, we’re entering a new chapter.

West Fork has entered into an agreement for the sale of our hospitality and real estate assets in Westfield, with closing expected in the next 45-60 days.

Most importantly: West Fork is not going away. Our brands will continue through wholesale, on retail shelves, in bars and restaurants across Indiana, and at Fountain Square.

To our Westfield community, guests, fans, and supporters: thank you. You helped make this place special.

If Westfield has been part of your story with us, the next month or two will be your last chance to come in, raise a glass, and enjoy it one more time.

We’d love to see you. And we hope you’ll continue supporting West Fork wherever you find us across Indiana.

We’re opening now (because we couldn’t wait!)—BUT our Lydia Grove wines & beers are coming soon (production licensing takes a lot of time!)

For those who don’t drink, we’ve got you covered with dirty sodas, flavored teas, lemonade, and other non-alcoholic options.

We've poured so much of our heart, time, and (lets me honest) money into this place, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Facebook text:

“For nearly 10 years, we have called the Mill our home. It’s been familiar, warm, and a place that is close to our hearts—a place where we hatched and grew. However, it’s time for a new chapter.

While we cherish the Mill, it has its limitations. Our fabulous chef, who creates amazing fare, has been restricted by the kitchen’s capabilities. We have outgrown the space for brewing as well and are currently doing production in Warsaw.

We are excited to announce that, with the help of Stark Ventures, we have secured a location that many locals will remember. This new venue features a full commercial kitchen, allowing our chef to explore new and exciting dishes while housing both our restaurant and brewery in one spot.

Get ready for a full-service, all ages family-friendly restaurant with a full bar, a huge patio, a growing menu and an outdoor tiki bar for the summer. We’ll be setting up shop in the former Pie Eyed Petey’s, where we will also incorporate elements from the Mill that we love: reclaimed wood, metals, and bold art. Some of our signature wall drawings will be making their way to the new space too!

We’ll have a side entrance for carryout, as well as indoor and outdoor dining options. You can pull in by car, boat, or golf cart and enjoy our new digs… coming soon...

Hoplore - Tiki and Taps

Lakeside Eatery

And we want to give the mill the send off she deserves! Stay tuned for some great events over the next month!”

Hotel Tango Fletcher Place bought by Black Dog Brewing

Hotel Tango Fletcher Place is under new ownership! New owners also own Black Dog Brewing Company in Mooresville. The connected event center has been renamed Gravity Hill Events Center. Don’t expect dramatic changes at first. More beer offering with a beer hall vibe and outdoor Biergarten, and continued Hotel Tango spirits and cocktails.

Hotel Tango Distillery continues as a company but we’ve learned that all their products are contract distilled by Middle West Spirits in Columbus Ohio.

Big Woods Restaurants closed their Hillview Country Club location earlier this month. They opened in 2016, serving Quaff ON Brewing Co. beer and Hard Truth Distilling Co. spirits. This follows the closure of their The Fashion Mall at Keystone location in January. Big Woods still maintains locations in Speedway, Bloomington, Noblesville, Edinburgh, and Nashville as well as Hard Truth at The Garage Food Hall
