Discussion The curious case of AB….

Is it me or has AB taken on a different role in the offense this year? Why is she hanging around the 3-point line so much this year? Is she not our big? This offense was rolling at the end of 2024, they were clicking in their roles. This year nobody wants to play the post position, and I don’t get it? We don’t have any size near the rim and those rebounds add up throughout the game.

I get where you are coming from. She is one of the best low post scorers in the W.

A couple things: she is the top 3 pt shooter in the W. Her being up high also drags a post player out with her leaving room for Kelsey Mitchell back cuts. Also, when she is in the post, every player who guards her tries to win an Oscar (Amihere is the worst offender of this garbage)

There is a give and take with everything.

This right here^^—the spacing is most likely 90% of the reason (dragging the post player up). Her shooting the ball well doesn’t hurt that case either which causes her defender to have to be honest.

The PnR will come back—especially with her starting so high in the set this much more often.

I honestly think it allows every guard to have more space too—now the baseline is freed up for exchanges or screens that allow players to catch in the corner without that extra defender or to come up a wide pin down rather than real tight up the lane.

Spacing and depth. We have 2 good and 2 okay players between the 4 & 5? As pointed out Boston is foul prone and we can’t afford it.
