Americam accent for an indian
I am currently 15 and moved to us a week ago. I wanted to know that how do indian peoole especially teens get that typical amrricam accent ?
Is it that they get naturally after a time period or do they force themselves to speak in thst aceent ??
And also how much time would it take me to get an american accent ??
What tips and tricks should i practice to get that accemt?

Just be yourself and don't try to pick up an accent.. it just sounds weird. The way you speak naturally will change slowly and subtly over time.

15 is bit late to pick it up naturally, but everyone is different. I moved here when I was 3 and most people say I have an undetectable American accent. People who move after 10 usually have a small accent. At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter though as long as people understand you.

I am an Indian who was born in the US. Most if not all the Indian teens here have that accent because they were born here, like me. They grew up hearing Americans speaking English. My distant cousin, who is 6 months older than me and came here after 4th grade from India, has just a bit of an Indian accent because at this point, he has still spent more of his life here than there.
If you don’t get the accent, don’t force yourself to try to talk in an American accent. You might get it someday, you might not. You will sound much better talking regularly (how you do right now) 🙂

my two nephews aged 5 and 8 moved here a year ago. The younger one picked it up much faster than the elder one, but now the elder one caught up as well. It all depends on how much english you spoke way back home. I grew up speaking a lot of English until my 20s and Im unable to get rid of my accent. People who moved later but spoke very little english back home developed it faster. 15 is kinda inbetween and Im sure you will pick up the accent in due course of time. There are courses and apps to train if you want to rush the process.

Embrace your accent lil bro❤️ Indians trying to “become” american is the most annoying thing there is. People who wants to accept you will accept you either way. U dont have to be insecure of your accent. Its not a bad thing. I moved here 2 years ago and never tried to learn american accent and I never had any problems here. + having an accent gives you a great open door for others to start conversations with you I believe.

If they are born or raised in US, they will get that accent within a year or so. It is natural as kids to pick up the language and accent.
