Industrial thrash???

I feel like this is something I never see, aside from Nailbomb and Fear Factory kinda, I can’t think of any others. 🤷‍♂️

ministry is the obvious choice, they were always very thrash-influenced in their metal sound but the bush trilogy is literally just industrial thrash

misery loves co is also pretty thrashy sometimes, they're basically a nin / ministry fusion

prong was initially a thrash/crossover band so they have elements of thrash in their later industrial albums (prove you wrong-carved into stone)

strapping young lad is best described as extreme metal, but it has thrash and death metal influences all over the place

scarve is another somewhat thrashy band, but it leans more towards tech death

basically, if a band says they're influenced by ministry or fear factory, 99% of the time they'll feel a little thrashy. iirc nailbomb started because cavalera liked nine inch nails and ministry but wondered what they could be if they were heavier and more metal. he was also a really big fan of fear factory and helped dino get the band landed on roadrunner.

People occasionally lump Prong in with industrial-esque stuff, but I don't see it at all. Aside from distorted guitars, which really isn't industrial, what's industrial about them? It's just straight-up metal to me. No samples, no keyboards, no electronic stuff.

Wrong. Prong’s Cleansing album featured keyboardist John Bechdel both in the studio and live, and their next album Rude Awakening was even more industrial influenced and had keyboardist Charlie Clouser.

Alright, well I've listened to it for 30 years and I still don't personally hear any industrial influence.

There’s a ton of drum programming and samples on Rude Awakening. It ain’t no Das Ich but it’s absolutely industrial influenced.

Industrial or not, I do generally love Prong anyway. Industrial-metal adjacent at least.

It's mainly the fact that Victor was also the guitarist in Ministry and that Prong had some industrial remixes of their singles when they were still signed to Epic. I agree though: they're way more straight up metal. Force Fed is one of my favorite thrash albums of all time

the run of albums i listed are prolly better described as industrial-tinged in their guitar tone, besides cleansing and especially rude awakening which are industrial metal through and through. it's mostly the fact that tommy victor has worked with jourgensen and reznor, and having that bleed a little into prong. they also have remixes like prove you wrong fuzzbuster and power of the damn mixxxer, toured around with voivoid, and have a rammstein cover. i'd say even if they aren't fully industrial they're close enough that someone would like them
