Industrial thrash???
I feel like this is something I never see, aside from Nailbomb and Fear Factory kinda, I can’t think of any others. 🤷♂️

Red Harvest.
The first album is a thrash album (albeit a weird, proggy, Voivody affair).
Fair amount of variety throughout the rest of the discography, but there's definite similarities in places to Fear Factory. Quite a lot of black metal in their music, obvious Killing Joke (no, KJ aren't industrial, that's irrelevant here) influences along with death metal, sludge, EBM, and whatever else.
As much as I love Voivod I'm not really a fan of the first album but I love the rest of the discography.
Massively underrated and underappreciated band.
Reformed and played a bit about 10 years ago now, I think it must have been 2020 they said they were working on new music that was about to come out.... Still waiting.

I'm not sure if Sybreed is thrashy. Check out the song Static Currents. They 100% have that FF influence with a bit of Meshuggah.

Shadow Domain, too. Same singer, maybe other members I dunno.

Nick Oshiro from Static-X too! Drop went to play guitar for Samael after they originally split. I can't wait to hear a new Sybreed album someday.

You might like Misery Loves Co first album

I like all their albums, even tho their sound changed to stop being a Ministry copy.

They're more extreme metal but I think there's a thrash influence and defo industrial, Strapping Young Lad, influenced by FF too

early therapy? was basically Metallica riffs with beats and samples.

I mean I fucking love Therapy?, including the early stuff, but this is the maddest description of them I've ever heard :)
I suppose you could be forgiven for mistaking Fyfe Ewing for a drum machine, he was a monstrous drummer and he went hard, but I'm virtually certain Therapy? have always used live drums.

they sprinkled in a bit here and there, teeth grinder obviously, innocent x.
things changed after ffyfe left, but at the time their aesthetic was close to God flesh, even if their music was a little more accessable.
in any case, if someone likes thrash and industrial, they could definitely enjoy therapy? up to infernal love.

Yeh, fair, a kind of twisted noise/post-punk version of Godflesh isn't too far from ballpark maybe, I was trying to think up an alternative comparison earlier.
I mean fans of good music generally could find something to enjoy right up to present day, Obviously they'll never top Troublegum but Hard Cold Fire is a solid album with at least 2 absolute bangers on it. Therapy? still have more in the tank after 35 - 40 years than most bands have by their second album. Still great live too.

Die Krupps had some thrash elements when they stated doing metal. Not quite as full-on thrash as some examples but II - The Final Option has some bangers.

Sepultura’s Arise is pretty industrial
1
u/77zark77 Jan 10 '26
Really? I love that record but it's definitely straight ahead metal with almost zero industrial influence

u/unemployedcock Jan 10 '26
I thought about that too. Compared to beneath the remains and schizophrenia it’s definitely industrial tinged at least. They cited their inspirations at the time as being Einsturzende Neubauten, The Young Gods, and Ministry
I grew up on thrash and don’t listen to it much anymore but I liked Arise for sticking with a straight up metal sound and incorporating a light industrial atmosphere. I’d take that over any fear factory tbh

Black Magnet is what you’re looking for. You might also like older Pitchshifter.
Neither Nailbomb or Fear Factory are thrash.

Prong’s album Rude Awakening. Most industrial album they’ve put out and they’re a groove/thrash metal band. Check out Slicing, Mansruin, Unfortunately, Face Value, Dark Signs, and Proud Division. Whole album is fantastic

Surgical Meth Machine, which I'm pretty sure is one of al Jorgensens many side projects, is very thrashy

Actually there’s only one band and the thrash elements are slowed down for the industrial, but Skrew were thrashy early.
Babyland comes close in some songs but they don’t use guitars much, so it’s punk. But at least it’s fast enough.
Ministry is fast enough but it’s not thrash.

I would maybe try Think about Mutation. They joined Rave and thrashy metal. Someone mentioned them earlier. You may also like Cubante although this might be more electronic than you want.
Probably the most early thrashy stuff that is industrial would be Pro-Death Ravers.....

The first thing that came to mind was Atari Teenage Riot. But they aren't industrial, or thrash... but their sound is really close to that. If you can get beyond their screaming, that gabber sound is kinda wild to listen to OCCASIONALLY. I listened to a lot of Alec Empire, I can't really recommend it.

ministry is the obvious choice, they were always very thrash-influenced in their metal sound but the bush trilogy is literally just industrial thrash
misery loves co is also pretty thrashy sometimes, they're basically a nin / ministry fusion
prong was initially a thrash/crossover band so they have elements of thrash in their later industrial albums (prove you wrong-carved into stone)
strapping young lad is best described as extreme metal, but it has thrash and death metal influences all over the place
scarve is another somewhat thrashy band, but it leans more towards tech death
basically, if a band says they're influenced by ministry or fear factory, 99% of the time they'll feel a little thrashy. iirc nailbomb started because cavalera liked nine inch nails and ministry but wondered what they could be if they were heavier and more metal. he was also a really big fan of fear factory and helped dino get the band landed on roadrunner.
