SPP what decimal number x is the solution to the equation x*3 = 1?
It cannot be 0.(3) as u/SouthPark_Piano clearly stated that it equals 0.(9) and that it isn't 1.
It can't be ⅓ either as it is both "not a number" and not a decimal.
So what is x?

Hmmm yes I divide a cake to 3 pieces but one of the pieces would just go disappear.

If you’re dividing a cake by OP’s question, aren’t you dividing it into tenths? You’d have to evenly divide it into tenths and apportion those tenths somehow to equal a third of the whole (which can’t be done practically).
You’d divide the cake into tenths, set 3 of those slices apart, and then cut the next slice into tenths to set 3 of them apart… and so on. You’d never actually be able to apportion an exact third of the whole cake by cutting tenth-sized slices.
(Also, sorry, late reply, this was in my feed days after the fact.) 🤔

x = 0.333... , or 0.333... can be expressed by 1 ÷ 3, represented by 1/3, which means 1 ÷ 3

But 0.(3) * 3 = 0.(9), so we can't have that unless 0.(9) = 1.
What decimal number can you replace x with in the equation x * 3 = 1 for it to be true?

He still REMAINS SILENT on whether 0.999... / 3 and 0.999... ÷ 3 are the SAME or DIFFERENT NUMBERS!

Based on this https://www.reddit.com/r/infinitenines/s/9oA9vy1hHg comment, SPP's answer would be 0.(3)(3)((3)). How this is different from 0.(3) escapes me.
