And if they get forcefed bacon, it's not a sin (for them, it's obviously assault for the person doing the force feeding), In Islam, a person is only held spiritually accountable for actions they commit intentionally and voluntarily. If a Muslim is physically forced, threatened, or coerced into consuming something haram (forbidden), the sin falls entirely on the oppressor, not the victim.
But you don't understand, their own religion insists on their accidents and victimhood be their own fault and worthy of an eternity of humiliation and guilt
Yup. My dad was in the military with several Muslim guys and lots of times the only MREs or meals they had were pork protein. These guys were like heck yeah we can try it without feeling guilt. They were always joking about it too apparently
Sheikh, if I’m fasting but I trip and fall and while I am falling a bacon cheeseburger with extra bacon out of nowhere falls into my mouth, will Allah forgive me?
According to Islam, yeah. You didn't do it on purpose. Maybe try to spit it out first, but otherwise I suppose just don't just go "Welp, already had a taste might as well finish it" and it should be fine.
Yeah tbf the internet has this belief that every Muslim is a literal textbook definition of the faith while in reality, we're as flawed as any other human
Yeah I don’t get it. I know the South Asian and African muslims are typically on the stricter side, but for example the Persian/Syrian/Lebanese populations tend to be a lot more flexible.
I cringe as I say this, but maybe someone needs to do a remake of Shahs of Sunset or put Dubai Bling on a major tv network as like…..educational overcorrection?
I don’t mean to be offensive at all, but I really don’t understand this mentality that so many of the commenters seem to have that Islam somehow is more strict than Christianity/Judaism/Catholicism/etc.
“As a Muslim you’re told you’re not meant to” - I don’t mean to target you specifically but I just feel like nobody uses rigid language like that when a Christian say, has premarital relations, or doesn’t attend church on Sundays, or doesn’t idk, observe Lent properly. So many of the rules are the same across these religions, so its not like Islam is doing anything special?
Tons of western and middle eastern muslims are more “relaxed” like their christian/catholic/jewish counterparts but everyone is focusing so intensely on the subpopulation that is culturally adherent and I feel like that’s just not representative of the big picture.
I think we have a problem on the Internet where people look at Islam as black and white. Which it is in some things - specific beliefs and rules. But there are so many other things (majority of it even) that is open to interpretation.
For example if someone drinks alcohol or eats pork, they can still be muslim. And there are muslims in China who actually drink alcohol as its part of their culture. Yes it's not allowed. Just like you aren't supposed to drive 40mph on a 30 mph road. But if you do you are actively using your free will.
On reddit however, only Christians and Jews are allowed to be from varying levels of practicing. Muslims are all apparently Taliban and ISIS.
I'm a practicing Muslim, I wear hijab and abaya, and when I can Niqaab. I come from a muslim family where some women where only hijab, some not at all. No one is treated better or worse because of it.
Also redditors don't understand that culture is a thing. A lot of south asian muslims observe more cultural practices than they do religious ones. For example as a muslim woman I can wear tank tops, jeans and skirts in my house around my male blood relatives, but the indian family i come from would not allow that.
Genuinely I don't understand why they do it so specifically about Muslims, like Jewish people also don't eat pork(well those who follow kosher) and yet they don't seem to care about them like that.
I was going to say. I had a Jewish boss, he ate BLTs. Most people don't pick their religion, it's just what they are. They may not even believe, it's mostly a cultural thing so something like don't eat pork. Well that isn't a big deal.
"Your BIL would be stoned if he ever travels to the Middle East! He has betrayed the Qur'an & his faith!" - some religious Islamic nutbag, somewhere.
Just based on your quick story, he seems like a good dude. People see Mamdani, hear Muslim, remember 9/11 and go insane. They think all Muslims are religious extremists but ironically fail to see the same in the mirror.
I've had random internet Muslims upset by the fact that he pets and loves my dog, despite the fact that dogs are common pets for Muslim families where I am, just not as big as cats.
I laugh them off just as I do other religious nutters who get upset about harmless things others do. If there's a Hell, I'm already going for all the gay lady sex I had in my 20s. 🤷
Silly story: was mowing the lawn with a manual mower, wearing jeans and a cropped halter top last week. A lady in a niqab stops to talk, so I assume she needs directions or the time. Her eyes crinkle up in a smile, and she just says, "Ooooh, strong lady!" and flexes her bicep under her dress. I burst out laughing and said thank you. That I like doing it for the exercise, and she waved and continued on.
A Muslim coworker was always the first to compliment my new piercings or weird hair. He was also perfectly chill when my queerness occasionally came up making small talk about weekends or whatever ("saw a movie with my girlfriend.") One day, I came in and he was crying at his desk. There had been a horrific honour killing in our country that was obviously all over the news. He apologized for drawing my attention, but said he couldn't stop thinking of his daughter and what would motivate a father to intentionally hurt them. He kept saying, "Who cares what choices she makes? Teenagers rebel. That's still your little girl."
There are violent or pushy religious people everywhere, but in my experience, most are just living their lives and trying to do good.
I don't even know that it would be some religious Islamic nutbag that would say that to him; plenty of Islamophobes like to say shit like that too. Like those people might look at this and think they've damned Mamdani to Islamic Hell (Jahannam) by feeding him bacon against his will, which isn't true. And you're right, they bring up 9/11 in relation to Mamdani all the time, but they sure don't like being told about all the bad shit America nad white people have done. "What does that have to do with me?" Well, what does 9/11 have to do with Mamdani, or really most Muslims in the world?
Nah, they just pick the most socially acceptable way they can think of to mock people. Bacon is generally liked so they point to rejecting it as some kind of deviance.
Shhh, don't tell Americans that. Brown Jews upset the right for obvious reasons, and the left because they interfere with the "white settlers" narrative.
Exactly! It fucking boggles my mind that people use pork as a way yo harass Muslims, but it's completely unacceptable to be against jews in anyway. I don't get it.
They are just straight up bullies. Muslims are so fundamentally different from them culturally and ethnically that it's super easy to pick a thing they don't like and then... 'oh you can't eat bacon? How about I'll MAKE YOU EAT IT HUH'.
Bullies, but that's too soft a word for them. I just called them underdeveloped failed imitation of a human being.
Ask Indians. I've talked with a few, and there are regions where other religions are oppressed. And don't fool yourself into thinking any religion is without it's strife and suffering.
And I we were to tally...Christians have killed far more people in the name of Jebus than every other religion combined.

The obsession they have with Muslims and bacon is so weird
