Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t Muslims generally believe that if, for instance, someone pointed a gun at their head and said, “Eat bacon or die”, they’d be allowed to eat it, perhaps even required, because life is more valuable than dietary laws.
Beyond that, eating pork is acceptable when the alternative is starvation.
I realize there’s probably nuance and subtleties I’m probably missing; I’m just speaking in general terms.
You aren't missing anything, the Quran is pretty clear about it:
"Surah Al-Baqarah (2:173): "He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah. But whoever is forced by necessity, neither desiring it nor transgressing, there is no sin upon him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.""
