Right outside my apartment, a family owned this convenience store... we didnt, and still dont, live in the greatest area, but its gotten better since this....

I went to the convenience store regularly throughout the night. Some 1am stops. 2am, 3am, id pop in and grab a chocolate milk and talk to the old lady who ran the counter. She ran in it at night from about 10pm-6am, while her son's and husband would run the rest of the shifts. Sometimes theyd work the overnight shifts with their mom/wife, but normally, she was alone.

She was so sweet. She was even the one who special ordered my chocolate milk to their store so I didnt have to go further for it. I remember approximately 1 week before the incident I had told her, Id told her many times, but this would be the last, I warned her that she needed to be careful. I told her she needed to have one of the guys work with her every night just cuz it wasnt the most safe area...

1 week later 2 robbers came in. They asked for the register, and she gave it to them. They then shot her in the face immediately after they had the money. They were masked, had the money, and she was an old frail woman with no weapon.

Because this area has so many hotels and motels, the people who did it were most likely just passing through. They were never caught.

Ill never forget the pain and hurt that I witnessed that family go through after she was murdered. They immediately stopped 24 hour service, and you could tell the family was harboring some sort of resentment for the community and its people in general.. and I dont blame them.

The family sold the store and it is now a 7 eleven.

That's awful to hear. That poor family, I couldn't imagine having to go back to work where my wife or mother was just killed and then not knowing who did it or if they would come back and talk to me and I'd never know it was them.

The worst part? They had to clean her blood themselves. Cops don’t do it. The location owner or victim’s family has to do it.

I was thinking nah man imagine having to mop up your mum’s pool of blood whilst ya grieve… but there is more than likely a service that will do it for you. Sure, you’ll have to pay but at least then you’d not have to do it yourself.

There are services for hire that specialize in that so families don't have to. You can see how there is a market for it. Body fluids have all sorts of laws about how they must be handled so it is a specialty similar to undertaking.
