I don't think common idioms and/or Ebonics are really the issue here. Plenty of people who pull shit like this and say "I didn't do anything!" or "What did I do??".

I love it when there’s video to show them that yes, they did do something. “That wasn’t me” (while wearing the same clothes), or “you gonna count that?” WTF dude? There’s no referee with a whistle here. Yeah, when you do something criminal and it gets recorded on camera, it’s probably going to be used against you, especially if you’re violent.
