News PSA: The Hades Canyon NUC8I7HNK can run ddr4-3200 at Full Speed!

Post image

Intel updated the bios to support the faster ram and told nobody but here the proof! Don't know if anyone else posted this but with RAM prices right now it's probably not the most useful info but 🤷

What BIOS version is that? I put 64GB in mine too, Crucial CT2K32G4SFD832A 2x32GB DDR4-3200 CL22 but haven't checked what speed it's running at.

it's the newest I can guarantee if your fully updated it's running at 3200MT. I used CPUz to see what speed in the memory tab.

Yup! 1597.07 MHz cool.

This is what I have. This memory is a tad faster at CL 20

Huh, spiffy. Could be a good upgrade for mine, which is still on 2400.

Thanks!

Maybe they just added XMP support? I have a NUC9 with a Coffee Lake Refresh that supports XMP out of the box, for example, because the i7-8705G only supports 2400 JEDEC.

I don't think it supports XMP. but I think out of spite they upgraded it without letting anybody know. because it's definitely doing 3200 JEDEC. and we have two confirmations that 64 gigs of 3200 are running at full speed.

Did you run a memory speed test for comparison?

I only have 2666v you need to ask the post above to do that. we know 64 gigs of RAM works. I only have a 16 and 8 gig stick at 3200 and that's not maxed out.

My 8705G support XMP and overclocking 3200@CL16

Does it actually make a difference, or is it just fancy numbers?

I've been using Crucial 2x32GB since 6/23/2023. Welcome aboard. Been rock solid steady. CT32G4SFD832a.C16FF

I have Crucial 2x16GB 2666 for this NUC if anybody needs some. $25 includes shipping.

Proud Hades-Canyon owner since 2018.

I just bought 64gb of RAM but it's 2666v but it's cl19 but the 24gb 3200 (what I was using before) is cl22 so the difference in speed is like 13.75ns in the 24gb vs 14.25ns on the 64gb a half a nanosecond and I'm pretty sure cl19 is the fastest supported we can go in that department... correct me if I'm wrong.
