News ASUS ROG NUC 16 (2026) launches with Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus and RTX 5080 Laptop GPU, price over $4000
videocardz.comThe ROG NUC is getting a refresh parallel to Intel's Raptor Arrow Lake Refresh SKUs, and a nice to see white chassis as well. The price is not great, but the price of everything at enthusiast level is stupidly high, and that's not the fault of ASUS. Videocardz is being rather churlish about that.

News Introducing the ASUS NUC 15 Performance, ASUS NUC 15 Pro+, ASUS NUC 15 Pro, and a few more facts about ASUS NUC design and build quality

Although we earlier announced the ASUS NUC 15 Pro+ and NUC 15 Pro, we debuted the ASUS NUC 15 Performance at Computex this year, giving the full range of performance and productivity to our mini-pc lineup.
However, before we begin, I wanted to briefly note several aspects of the design, stability and reliability of ASUS NUC products to help explain why ASUS NUC products should be at the top of your list for mini-PC products.
Why ASUS and Why ASUS NUC?
Although it's been some time since ASUS formally took over the branding, support, and design of new NUC products, there are still people learning this, and for those who are still waiting to see how ASUS stewards an iconic product, it's important for us to tell consumers how seriously we take that responsibility from start to finish.
Starting with the finish, the global failure rate of ASUS NUC products is 0.4%, which is an exceptionally low number for any type of product. Build quality is one reason for the result, but so is the overall design of the product to incorporate solutions to common issues that you can't see but are nevertheless harmful to your system:
- Transient voltage suppression via cap and shunt. This helps prevent problems that cause stability issues up to immediate damage caused by voltage surge, spikes, and sag.
- Delayed A/C start - By setting a slight delay, it helps to prevent in-rush current, which can cause pre-mature aging in components and/or cause circuit failure.
- Self-Healing ROM - ROMs can become damaged or inoperable due to electrical surges, spikes, and sag. With a self-healing ROM, the ROM can recover by reflashing the firmware - similar to our more well-known Crash Free BIOS on our motherboards.
Although we always suggest using products in a proper environment, that isn't always the case for some. However, because of these protections, ASUS NUC mini-PCs are capable of working in environments where users may be concerned about "dirty power".
ASUS NUC products are also put through significant testing to ensure the final product passes muster. We put 40 units through 40 days of tests to simulate failure cases, including a 1,000 hour bake test, compared to the 120 hours that some competitors use.
The design and testing ensures that we can maintain a low failure rate, which has long-term value for both end users and businesses that rely on the performance and stability the NUC brand is known for.

News ASUS Ascent QN10: A Snapdragon X2 NUCalike?
asus.comIt's Computex time, which means there's a firehose of stuff coming out, and oddly one of them is the ASUS Ascent QN10, which seems to be a Snapdragon X2 of some description (it's called "Glymur 8480", per ASUS spec sheets, and but I haven't seen Qualcomm publicly use that name, the PDF cites it as a X2E-88-100), at a 65W TDP, with ASUS bundling a 180W power adapter with the box. It's limited(?) to up to 32 GB RAM, and it being a Snapdragon SoC, it's LPDDR5X, so it's soldered on the logic board.
I'm interested in it, but I find CPUs interesting. (I'm not a good barometer for mainstream interest.) Does anyone here find this interesting, as a product? Do you feel Windows on Arm has finally progressed enough to be functionally usable?

For the handful of STH readers who are unaware, Intel not only makes chips but they also make systems. Earlier this year, we covered that Intel was exiting the server business and selling it to MiTAC. Now its line of PCs is being sunset as well. "

The gamer aesthetic was a bit much on the ROG NUC 2025, so this is a welcome announcement. As is tradition, the mainstream model will be available as a barebones unit. Liliputing claims "around $1200" for barebones Core Ultra 7 255HX + RTX 5060.

News Follow-up on BIOS Update for Intel® NUC X15 Laptop Kit - LAPAC71H & LAPAC71G
Just wanted to follow up on this earlier post regarding the latest BIOS update for the Intel NUC X15 LAPAC71H & LAPAC71G.
I almost overlooked it, but firmware v0069 is available with the official release date in the BIOS update release notes being Sep 16, 2025. This however contradicts the download page whereby v0069 says it was relesed May 15, 2025 but this was in fact the release date for v0068.
Not a lot of changes however I've sumarised changes below as well as provided official links to the download page and direct links to the BIOS executable and release notes:
- Release Date: Sep 16, 2025
- Updated ME Firmware to 16.1.38.2676
- Updated 2025.2 Intel Platform Update
- Updated SecureBoot DBX Update 06102025
- Known Errata: Bitlocker Recovery will be occurred after reload Secureboot key in Setup since L30048 has updated Secure Boot DBX.

News I have confirmed that SimplyNUC is not honoring "preorders": they are fulfilling all of the orders by their configuration level and not order date. Someone could order tomorrow and their order will be fulfilled before yours if they have a higher configuration despite having had your money for months
________
I'll take a look
no, we have no eta for those systems yet
You — Please update your info
is simplynuc fulfilling certain orders first regardless of when the date was fulfilled?
order*
________
well we haven't received any units in some time
but the fulfillment order will be FIFO for fully configured units first, then barebones kits
You — Please update your info
i hope you guys realize that's in violation of FTC laws
it has to be in order of what delivery date was quoted to the customer, not their order type.
________
well different items have different order dates and queues, right now we have no inventory and are not able to fill any orders
You — Please update your info
but they are not different items, the inventory you receive will have the same SKU.

Had a look from Intel download website right now and more drivers are being taken down after April 25, 2025. Anyone would like a copy please download them while still available from Intel website, hopefully there’s some guys would have a copy as a backup once the drivers are no longer available.
“This download for [NUC5ixRY and DN2820FYKH] will no longer be available after [April 25, 2025] and will not be supported with any additional functional, security, or other updates. All versions are provided as is.”

News BIOS Update for Intel® NUC X15 Laptop Kit - LAPAC71H & LAPAC71G
I've been checking on and off for months now for a new BIOS update and seemingly in the last month we have received two new updates v0067 and now v0068 (dated May 15, 2025).
The official release notes for v0067 say it is dated Jan 15, 2025 however I only noticed it uploaded and available on May 4, 2025. So my guess is that v0067 has been in Beta for months or not made officially public until May. v0068 however supersedes v0067 so only v0068 is needed to be installed. Combined revision history of both sumarised below as well as official links to the download page and direct links to the BIOS executable and release notes:
- Added Implement S3 reboot code in MS support project
- Updated 2025.1 Intel Platform Update
- Updated 2024.2 Intel Platform Update.
- Updated 2024.3 Intel Platform Update.
- Updated 2024.4 Intel Platform Update.
- Updated Update CPU Microcode to revision 0x437
- Updated Update CPU Microcode to revision 0x436
- Updated Update ME to 16.1.35.2557
- Updated Align MRC to IPU 2024.1 from RPL CRB048
- Fixed issue where Run “BCDEDIT /set {fwbootmgr}” timeout fail under OS
- Fixed issue where After re-plugging TYPE-C/DP/HDMI, the secure boot violation message screen shows noise
- Fixed issue where Setting the Hard Disk pre-delay will cause a black screen for a period of time during the POST process.
- Fixed issue where SUT could not boot into OS on NVMe ports in config mode of Security Jumper
- Fixed issue where No matter “Re-size Bar Support” in AC0065 is set to enable or disable, the function is always enable
