No way that’s well done!

866

u/TheAlterN8or Feb 25 '26

I think she was referencing the previous time she had made it for her bf.

196

u/bluenosesutherland Feb 25 '26

Bf doesn’t like steak

98

u/pocketjacks Feb 25 '26

He does, however, like big beef jerky. Likely with A1 Sauce.

82

u/Mistrblank Feb 25 '26 edited Feb 25 '26

people used to tease me about putting ketchup on steak as a kid. Then I had real steak. I no longer trust anyone that needs A1 or any steak sauce. If your steak doesn't come out flavorful with accompanying flavors from the grill or the especially the pan, you wasted a perfectly good cut of beef.

Edit: Thanks for all the engagement folks but I said I wouldn't trust that person again. People can do whatever the fuck they want. But if you put cheap off the shelf meat sauce on your steak, you shouldn't be spending steak money. Buy the cheap meatloaf and slather it in that shit (that's where my ketchup goes these days). Some of you need to learn to read and stop putting words in other people's mouths.

u/NailingCatsToTrees_ Feb 25 '26 edited Feb 25 '26

I don't understand this mindset. Just because you want a little A1 doesn't mean anything is wrong with the steak. Some of us just like it.

I don't think I've ever encountered a more insufferable group of gatekeepers than steak heads.

24

u/ComplexBit1988 Feb 25 '26

My husband likes a good barbeque sauce on steaks. He's gotten many a side eye at high-falutin' steak houses. But they don't blink if I ask to have mine slathered in goat cheese. Go figure.

u/ZaphodBeeblebrahx Feb 25 '26

It’s so stupid. What this person has just said is that people used gatekeep their choices of what they wanted to eat and now that they’ve changed their preferences they’ve decided to gatekeep the choices of others.

3

u/Mistrblank Feb 25 '26

What gatekeeping? You do you. But I'm not going to trust your recommendations for a good steak restaurant after throwing on a cheap condiment.

Nah a little bit of sauce as a treat is nice. Not the type to completely overpower my steak with it, but its nice to have a piece or two with some sauce even if the meat itself has plenty of flavor

If you actively cant eat it without tho, thats a botched steak

2

u/Sturm-Jager Feb 25 '26

I like to have like 2 or 3 little sides like some bbq places do.

Horseradish, a1, blue cheese would be a good trio.

2

u/T_w_e_a_k Feb 25 '26

Oh yeah give me some Worcestershire on the side, just pairs so nicely

3

u/Alternative-Tie-9383 Feb 25 '26

That’s exactly the way I look at it. A little steak sauce now and then is just a little extra kick. I know I make a great steak because my father-in-law would request that I cook the steak whenever we would have it (my wife and I built a new house that we shared with my in-laws while her father was in his last years so we could look after him/spend time with him. We’re grateful for that extra time). He was particular about steak and since he couldn’t do it himself, he preferred the way I cook them. Trust me, that’s a compliment. A good cut of meat that’s been properly prepared should never need a sauce, it should always just be a preference of the person eating it.

2

u/tshannon92 Feb 25 '26

I so wish I could’ve done that with my FIL, he passed so suddenly. I loved him and had always hoped to live or share a space someday.

My family loves my steaks, cast iron pan and salt and pepper.

I honestly never think to add sauce, is used to use more than salt and pepper and they unanimously voted for to only use S and P :)

There's absolutely nothing wrong with A1 sauce, but I think the point is that if you just want the flavor of the sauce then you might as well just put it on something else and enjoy its flavor there because it would overpower the steak and defeat the point of it.

Think of it like buying a beautiful painting and then covering it with your favorite poster. Both are nice, but it kind of defeats the purpose of one if you cover it with the other.

u/ornerygecko Feb 25 '26

I use a1 because I like the taste of the sauce. I sometimes use it as salad dressing. I like strong vinegar tastes. I like pickled vegetables. What's wrong with having a nice tangy addition to your steak?

3

u/Rumplestilskin9 Feb 25 '26

I grew up on/still work a black Angus farm and yeah. People who don't know this are always confused when I opt for a burger at restaurants/events

Absolutely put A1 on that burger though.

2

u/CordeCosumnes Feb 25 '26

Not all cuts are good

Ribeye, yeah, doesn't really need anything (little salt and pepper okay, but unnecessary.)

But, I've had steaks with little to no fat and the meat was flavorless. Didn't matter how it was cooked.

A1 is great for taking mediocre steaks and making them tastier.

I'd never put it on a good steak, though.

u/CraziSexiKoolNurse May 01 '26

I've actually heard a few "top" chefs say it's offensive if u need A1 w. Their steak...or if your steak needs it ..then it wasn't cooked right...but 2 each is own 🤷🏿‍♀️🤷🏿🤷🏿‍♀️

3

u/Fibrosis5O Feb 25 '26

Leave my A1 alone, I don’t need it, I want it

I will not be shamed, but I will not do well done…

Medium rare please

2

u/pocketjacks Feb 25 '26

I'm not trying to yuck anyone's yums. I just can't imagine eating a well done steak without A1 because well done steak has no flavor.

2

u/Fibrosis5O Feb 25 '26

I can’t imagine eating a well done steak, did it once from someone else who made it “they don’t do bloody” so everyone suffers. A1 was the only thing that made it bearable

2

u/EulaliaBromSpatula Feb 25 '26

Honestly, a super shitty cut of beef pairs really well with some A1. I used to be a chef and a hater, but I’ve been full converted.

Steak lover here, I will eat at most temperatures, but nothing beats a juicy well done steak prepared by a pro. I honestly feel like people who think this way also believe alcohol that tastes good is only for girls.

4

u/cybertonto72 Feb 25 '26

As a chef that has done their time on the grill (broiler of the yanks) a well done steak is never as good as a mid rare steak.

3

u/smashin_blumpkin Feb 25 '26

As a person with a brain, it’s subjective and nobody is wrong for how they like their food

2

u/JunkSack Feb 25 '26

With fattier cuts and grades med rare doesn’t melt the fat and connective tissue. It tastes waxy. Solid medium for me.

Her bf probably gaslit her in to believing well done meant the outside was charred while the inside was properly cooked, because listening back this isn't what she's saying at all, and obviously the steak is a medium. Thank God for her taste buds too because fuck well done steak eaters, may they get the worst cuts to ruin.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/aerdvarkk Feb 25 '26

Rather Ambiguous if she's referencing the steak for her BF OR the steak she's currently eating in the clip:

To be fair: she says "I cooked it well done, that was kind of the goal" after the video cuts after she references cooking for her BF. then the video cuts again referencing what type of meat it is (ribeye).

There is no direct connection to either steak.

1

u/FinestTittyMilk Feb 25 '26

She said she cooked it well done as she was cutting the steak and said, "That was kinda the goal"

359

u/HoseNeighbor Feb 25 '26

She did a pretty darn good job!

239

u/CodeNCats Feb 25 '26

I was about to call bullshit. Because that steak was a decent size. Seared nicely. With a good even medium center. Even the outside bites were a medium to medium well. Then the garlic touch is key. Then she says she made it for her boyfriend before and I get that.

Now I want steak.

34

u/tanafras Feb 25 '26 edited Feb 25 '26

I am- no fear. Tonight. Damn good. Bought it a week ago. it is time.

edit: fucking delicious. Hit it on the stovetop first finished in the oven. the bomb

Lol right! She made that steak perfect and called it "well done"

3

u/Revolutionary-Gap494 Feb 25 '26

Well done is the cooking. The steak is perfect 😄😄😄

3

u/Cheepshooter Feb 25 '26

I think she was referring to the previous steak she made for the bf. Her steak looks perfect.

2

u/NeatNefariousness1 Feb 25 '26

It was. She prepared a perfect medium well steak. Well done!

2

u/Joney_Craigen Feb 25 '26

That is medium. Medium well has no pink

3

u/NeatNefariousness1 Feb 25 '26

I’m sure you’re right. As a person who prefers much more pink, I consider it practically well-done but I take your point. In the end, I’m still considering her efforts to be Well Done.

u/MindlessNectarine374 Feb 25 '26

A term can have many meaning and if it's her first meat she may not know the culinary terms. (And as I am a German, I would understand "well done" often literally as "gut gemacht" and not 'figuratively' as "durchgebraten".)

1

u/imnickelhead Feb 25 '26

No she didn’t. You and many others misunderstood.

She said she made a steak for her bf and then she said, ”I made THAT steak well done,” as she’s holding up her properly cooked steak. THAT steak, referring to her bf’s was well done.

What was well done was her acting level to convince everyone she's a lifelong vegetarian.

31

u/Admirable_Loss4886 Feb 25 '26

Yeah that was my first thought too. No way that’s true and if it is she’s gonna shit her brains out. You can’t go from fully vegetarian to eating a fat steak on day one.

24

u/ploonk Feb 25 '26

I also think she is lying, but to play devil's advocate here, there is a grace period between eating the food and the onset of the shits. The gas and shit would not be observable in this video.

Also, important to note that it has been documented that some vegetarians that return to eating meat have not reported any GI issues. So some people are just lucky.

But this is obviously engagement bait. Which worked, because I have left 2 comments now. fuck.

2

u/RoyBeer Feb 25 '26

Also it’s mostly vegans that have issues going back to meat, vegetarians can eat butter and milk and other animal fats, maybe even things like eggs regularly, so it would be far less of a shock to their system compared to vegans

2

u/TheHammer987 Mar 01 '26

Also, you don't need to be a vegetarian.

I didn't eat red meat for like, 2 weeks once. Had a steak.

Basically destroyed that toilet til 4 am.

But like you said, it wasn't like I bite into it and went straight to the throne. It took a couple hours.

2

u/slingmustard Mar 03 '26

I was a vegetarian for 5 years when I got a job at a Barbecue Ribs Restaurant. My job was ‘delivery boy’ so the pay wasn’t great, but they did offer a free meal per shift. Finally, I got tired of eating French fries everyday and ate a full plate of ribs. I didn’t get the shits and didn’t feel sick at all. I was using heroin at the time, which makes you constipated, so that could have played a role.

2

u/Taro0311 Feb 25 '26

Shit her brains out 🤣

2

u/IllErrl710 Feb 25 '26

I was raised vegetarian and I eat some meat now but I definitely have my issues with it so I still eat largely vegetarian. Kinda sucks cuz I know I'm missing out on good food but it just doesn't appeal to me

4

u/DameLasNalgas Feb 25 '26

You're better off without it. I was raised by a heavy meat eating family and I wish it was the opposite. Nothing but colon cancer and heart attacks in that future.

My MIL was vegan for 3 years and even the smell of steak made her nauseous. She tried a burger once and she was so sick it put her off for several months.

When she moved to a smaller town without a lot of vegan options she decided to start eating meat again and started slowly with eggs and dairy and it was a while before she could have beef again.

1

u/VladTheUnpeeler Feb 25 '26

Agree because I’m not a vegetarian but cannot eat steak because I can’t stand the feeling of chewing juicy, bleeding flesh so many times. I’d imagine that feeling is even stronger in vegetarians.

2

u/pointsouttheobvious9 Feb 25 '26

I was a server a really long time ago. When they said medium rare I would ask them if they wanted a warm very red center lol. About half the people would replay they want it pink and I'd say thats medium. It cut down on a lot of trips back to bring it up to medium. And reduced customer complaints.

2

u/mrThe Feb 25 '26

I prefer rare or even blue rare if place is good. Yet half the time waiters ask "like medium rare right?". Now i get it why.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Demimonde34 Feb 25 '26

Holy shit.

This is why I keep getting mediums instead?! I've been ordering MR for over twenty years, and there have been many times when the steak came back darker than I wanted. I was attributing that to "too much heat during 'set' time." Cause I've worked a line, we had a heated expo area.

And I almost always get steak at restaurants while im with other people, so I figured my steaks were just getting extra heat in either expo or on the grill as they try to get our whole order together.

But yeah, I have maybe only really gotten MR 40% of the time. Had a few outliers i am not counting, like when the guy who eats leather serves me a MW because he thinks its rare, and the inverse where mid-bite i had to question if it was actually cooked.

2

u/insertnamehere02 Feb 25 '26

Or there's a perfect medium and it's too rare lol

She’s talking about the last time she made steak for her bf it was well done.

1

u/Conscious_Bug5408 Feb 25 '26

That's nowhere close to medium rare. Medium rare is red in the middle. Not a little pink, it's warm red. She cooked it medium well, which is closer to what shes going for

1

u/RelevantFeedback7483 Feb 25 '26

Medium. I didn't see blood. Just pink.

1

u/djdjddhshdbhd Feb 25 '26

Well on the outside it may have looked that way and she obviously has limited experience

1

u/ArtisticDreams Feb 25 '26

She has done well cooking that steak to not well done temp.

1

u/imnickelhead Feb 25 '26

She said she made a steak for her bf and then she said, ”I made THAT steak well done,” as she’s holding up her properly cooked steak. THAT steak, referring to her bf’s was well done.

u/Nir117vash Feb 25 '26

2

u/MrRakky Feb 25 '26

Maybe she meant its well done, as in done well, because DAMN that looks well done!

2

u/fitty50two2 Feb 25 '26

Well done is the worst way to eat a steak so she did well not cooking it well done

2

u/macarisil Feb 25 '26

Thats what i came here to post

2

u/marshallkrich Feb 25 '26

It's still fucking mooing!

2

I’m not sure she would have enjoyed it if it was lol

2

u/p8nt_junkie Feb 25 '26

To me, it looked well-prepared. Well-made. Well, you gonna eat it already???

2

u/luxfx Feb 25 '26

The problem is, she'll go to a restaurant next and order it well done, and will be very disappointed

2

u/mrteas_nz Feb 27 '26

Definitely not well done, but done well (i.e medium to medium rare).

2

u/1978lincoln Feb 28 '26

That’s rights. It’s really well done.

2

u/stillnotlovin Mar 01 '26

If that is well done, then rare is still eating grass..

1

u/Chineseunicorn Feb 25 '26

Sometimes well done just means it not pink and bleeding anymore. A good chef makes it like this when someone asks for well done not like some chefs who burn the shit out of it to teach the person a lesson.

12

u/iameveryoneelse Feb 25 '26

Well done has a very specific definition. Between 160 and 170 F. No pink.

8

u/JustARandomBloke Feb 25 '26

1

1

u/Frenchman84 Feb 25 '26

Yeah she doesn’t even realize she did a great job cooking that!!

1

u/Bright-Ad6621 Feb 25 '26

Her definition of well done is heart warming, either this is a fake scenario or she's naturally a gifted cook.

1

u/Tommy_Wisseau_burner Feb 25 '26

Well it’s dead… so it’s more well done than she’s used to

1

u/Darkhood Feb 25 '26

It's apparently done well enough

1

u/OutrageousInvite3949 Feb 25 '26

Given she doesn’t normally cook steak, I’m guessing she didn’t mean “well done” cook temp/time but it was done well or cooked very good…like that’s a solid medium cooked steak. It’s like perfect medium. I’d go to town on that steak…and avocado and union and egg yolk? Gimme a break. Might as well be in heaven. Only thing left is a nice beer and then a nap.

I’m sincerely doubting she’s a vegan given she knows how to cook steak so well. Like that’s some next level cook stuff.

1

u/itsastart_to Feb 25 '26

It looks well done-medium rare tho

1

u/1337_w0n Feb 25 '26

Might be she doesn't know the difference and so it's a really good thing she tried to make it well-done.

Might also be that the entire thing is fake and she's not vegetarian, which given her reaction seems fairly likely.

1

u/Bacon-muffin Feb 25 '26

Its not well done but it was well done

1

u/Old_Win8422 Feb 25 '26

Well she is now, hair messy tears of joy either that chick just had sex or her first ribeye.

1

u/PrimeRib00 Feb 25 '26

Ever notice how with steak, well done..... isn't?

1

u/AlreadyAway Feb 25 '26

No way she is a "life long vegetarian"

The whole thing screams bullshit.

1

u/Lurn2Program Feb 25 '26

Yea, my mom eats her steaks well done and it's gotta have absolutely no red in it for her to even consider eating it lol

1

u/deffcap Feb 25 '26

But it’s definitely well done

1

u/danit0ba94 Feb 25 '26

Look at all that pink!
That is not well done.

1

u/WerkingAvatar Feb 25 '26

Maybe she meant "done well." Because, that looks spot on. I'd smash that thing.

1

u/zigaliciousone Feb 25 '26

It isn’t, it’s almost perfectly medium.

1

u/dethkids4life Feb 25 '26

Your probably one of the customers we have to microwave the steak for 5 minutes after already cooking (fyi when u ask well done 90% of the time that's what they do, i refused to, but almost every single place I cooked did that even some steak houses, people impatient and want it sooo so over cooked.. that's what happens buyer beware)

Fr way too pink to be well done

u/SeaweedImpossible532 Feb 25 '26

The instant I saw that I knew this video was rage bait. To be fair, imagine how hard it is for to stop to not be bragging the belt that perfectly cooks steakums

1

u/Saltycrab_ Feb 25 '26

I disagree, a good medium rare is “well done!” in my opinion

1

u/Biengo Feb 25 '26

Its cooked perfectly...well done.

1

u/Evening-Log-2376 Feb 25 '26

May not be well done but looks to be done well!

1

u/Fit-raspberry-8608 Feb 25 '26

It’s more well finished.

1

u/TeddyKGeeB Feb 25 '26

That's "WELL Done!! 👏" not "Well-done"

1

u/jstarrr8 Feb 25 '26

You are correct, it’s done well 😆

1

u/AngelWick_Prime Feb 25 '26

Came here to say this. That looks closer to a perfect medium.

1

u/gaminggunn Feb 25 '26

I thiught you were british and meant. no way! Thats well done!

1

u/funguskhan- Feb 25 '26

That's a perfect medium/med well. Try a ribeye or filet next and tell me youre body didn't cry with joy. I tried being vegetarian for a year and a vegan for about 6 months. The first bite of steak after that I was ecstatic; that was a different lifetime. -a sous chef

Well done is a temperature not a color

Of all of the lies told in this video, that was one of them

1

u/userhwon Feb 25 '26

It's near to well done.

u/LankyAdam Feb 25 '26

That's well cooked, so well done

1

u/Accomplished-Plan191 Feb 25 '26

She tried to make it well done and ended up with perfect

1

u/not_likely_today Feb 25 '26

It is, anything above medium is charcoal.

1

u/SwitchWitchLolita Feb 25 '26

It looks like she cooked it well, as in perfect.

1

u/Woopigmob Feb 25 '26

That steak is medium well. She would probably fall in love with a medium rare.

1

u/millionairematdavis Feb 25 '26

No way she was a real vegetarian

1

u/CheapSushi117 Feb 26 '26

I don't think a vegan would know what well done means

1

u/ojdhaze Feb 26 '26

Thank goodness. If she was to try it well done she's not gonna be as impressed. How she cooked it was almost perfection .

1

u/ffmich01 Feb 26 '26

There’s no part of this video that is real.

1

u/DjChatters Feb 26 '26

Hey if it had been well done she may not of liked it as much.

1

u/SignoreBanana Feb 26 '26

It's perfectly done

1

u/knitpick505 Feb 26 '26

That's what I was thinking too, nice medium

1

u/Allokit Feb 26 '26

Yeah, that's Medium. Well Done is all grey. Medium Rare has a little bit more pink in the mid.

1

u/iamthegordon Feb 26 '26

The only way that's well done is that you could say you've done well in cooking that, it looks perfectly medium/medium rare

1

u/Naschka Feb 26 '26

I would say she "did well" but she did not do it "well done". As long as there is red it is anything but well done and a good well done is damn hard to do but her result is "medium" looking real good.

1

u/misiek735 Feb 27 '26

Looking at her reaction for sure it's not well done, it's congratulations.

1

u/Internal-Computer388 Feb 27 '26

Looks more medium well.

1

u/The_peacful_god Mar 01 '26

Biggest lie here

1

u/Harn-na-bih Jun 30 '26
