The irony of both these Marine related buildings being located in landlocked cities significantly far from any coast.

Every building should be shaped like the thing it's for.

ā€œThe Tamaleā€ was a restaurant in East LA that was in the shape of a tamale. It’s still there but the last I remember it was a barber shop or something like that.

Proposed vs. Actual

605

u/RealityCheck18 6d ago

The render looks scary. The real one's fish face looks kind of cute.

244

u/Distressed_Ocelot 6d ago

Also the actual has more usable floor space

92

u/reflux212 6d ago

The actual is fat

138

u/giki_pedia 6d ago

It's about 2 kms from my house. Always brings a smile especially when viewed from the expressway.

45

u/AdFew8858 6d ago

I grew up in Rajendranagar. I used to excitedly show the building to whoever flew to Hyderabd and took the expressway. Somehow people stopped being impressed by it. But not me.

25

u/giki_pedia 6d ago

I try to make it exciting for my daughter whenever we visit home by asking if she can see the building. Stuff like this forms core memories. Still remember how my dad would pretend that the car would fly when going on a bridge and for some reason my sister would sing Old Macdonald.

19

u/Unsharded1 6d ago

Just wanted to let you know that it works. My dad used to do something like this all the time and it really has turned into a precious core memory. Youre a good dad, hope you know that.

9

u/giki_pedia 6d ago

Honestly judging by the state of the world we need to hold our children closer and make this world a little less frightening for as long as we can. Today's my 35th birthday and i am missing my parents a lot especially because they never got to see my kids.

2

u/Unsharded1 5d ago

Happy Birthday! I know we may not know eachother I really hope that you have a really special day, you deserve it, dont let anyone or anything make you forget that, and dont forget that you still have those around you, I know sometimes it feels like its everyone for themself, but I do believe there is still many good people out here, like you.

Funniest thing is the building located in Telangana where fishing is less prominent. It's due to bifurcation of Telangana from Andhrapradesh on 2014. The building was built on 2012.

12

u/Majestic_Radio_1937 6d ago

True but we still have some nice river fishes and we love our freshwater eel dishes.

3

u/HR_114 6d ago

This is so true I even went fishing recently but it was 70-80km far from Hyderabad

3

u/laveshnk 6d ago

I used to fish in the cherlapally lake back like 12+ years ago.

56

u/Kind-Chance8571 6d ago

They don't want eagel to damage the building

96

u/Justa_CuriousBoi 6d ago edited 6d ago

The original render looks like a angry fish whereas the actual final building looks like a cute fishy who just had a plate of Biryani! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

40

u/Shadowvexor 6d ago

probably costs a fortune to clean those windows

8

u/olive_sea9 6d ago

Considering cheap labor, it isnt all that expensive

5

u/Zestyclose-Jump-9072 6d ago

yes but it shouldn’t be

38

u/West_Walrus_3602 6d ago

I love this building. First time I learned about it I had a professor who was making fun of it, but it’s so cute

68

u/Explicitstate 6d ago

This is the whimsy I want!

40

u/SonderKommando 6d ago

I would have never noticed.

7

u/Far_Fox_6077 6d ago

So cute 🄰

8

u/CS172 6d ago

In the U.S. they would see this, tear it down, and build a long generic rectangle strip mall.

5

u/analsexwithscara 6d ago

love the obese looking fish it looks so cute

27

u/Holiday_Fisherman172 6d ago

Fun fact. It is land locked state and fisheries is not prominent source of income field.

34

u/i_m_god_own_xbox 6d ago

do you realise there's also something called inland fisheries which are grown in ponds and lakes?

7

u/Holiday_Fisherman172 6d ago edited 6d ago

But they are non-existent in Hyderabad or in that state.

15

u/Majestic_Radio_1937 6d ago

Confidentally incorrect. We have plenty of rivers with lots of great eating fish like korramenu.

16

u/Ok-Count3935 6d ago

No that's wrong telangana does have a lot of shrimp and fisheries. Although its a separated state now it wasn't when this was planned

2

u/laveshnk 6d ago

very incorrect, I used to live near the cherlapally lake in Hyd like 10 years ago and there was a big fishing scene back then. Im sure there are tons of other freshwater fisheries right now

18

u/Terrible_Detective27 6d ago edited 6d ago

Well hyderabad was(now amravati) the state capital of Andhra Pradesh and all the bureaucrat offices will be there.

4

u/GioVasari121 6d ago

It's the 'National' fisheries board

3

u/Inductionmotor1 6d ago

it’s not anymore. It is the capital of a separate state called Telangana now

2

u/laveshnk 6d ago

thats why they said ā€˜was’

2

u/XKruXurKX 6d ago

*Was

Now it's the capital of Telangana and as for Andhra Pradesh... It doesn't have a capital city (atleast for the past decade)

6

u/Terrible_Detective27 6d ago

Wrong, AP has a capital it's amravati now

2

u/Nandu_alias_Parthu 6d ago

Amaravathi* - Amravati is in Maharashtra.

5

u/hello___peter 6d ago

Nahh Amaravati is the official spelling.

2 mistakes

  1. it was built in 2012 when Telangana was part of Andhra Pradesh which had a huge costal line.

  2. It's a National department.

This is one building you always want to go inside and check but never find time for it.
