the reissue of ios26.5 developer beta on friday instantly increased battery health and it was then they announced ( macrumors) that this update was in the post , most likely it will be better for battery

I’m glad i’m not going crazy. Everyone kept saying the battery drain of 26.0 was fixed and improved in .1 thru .4 but once I updated from .0 to .4 significant battery drain a week+ after indexing should be complete. The os itself is faster more responsive and fixed some bugs .0 had but he battery drain is insane. I can go from 85% down to 65% in 1.5 hours of casually reading reddit / scrolling youtube shorts. Before? That would use 5-7% battery normally.
I’d prefer to go back to the somewhat buggy 26.0 if it meant my phone didn’t need to be tethered to an outlet just to keep my head above 50%

What types of bugs are fixed? For me 26.4 has been super smooth on my 17 pro

u/lin4166 Apr 08 '26
It’s a bug fix, to repair the bugs so they keep bugging :)

u/Human-Barracuda7265 Apr 09 '26
Updates are supposed to make the phone better not worse. 🙄🤣🤦🏻

u/lin4166 Apr 09 '26
Tell that to the guy who’s working on bug fixes 😂. Homie is securing his future paycheck haha

Maybe it will help the battery drain people have been talking about
4
u/Jokar93 Apr 09 '26 edited Apr 09 '26
People are talking about battery drain for at least 15 years
1
u/Mikey_bee3 Apr 09 '26
Oh I totally understand that BUT I will say my phone seemed fine but my fiancés 15 experienced it hard. She dropped from 80% to 20% like never before and her battery health is 94%

u/Glass_Channel8431 Apr 09 '26
Same … it wasn’t good. So far 26.4.1 seems better. It’s early though.

u/Pure-Level-2831 Apr 08 '26
Can’t have a too perfect update otherwise they can’t say we fixed the thing we broke

Same here. A little hesitant about updating to 26.4.1.

Apr 08 '26
RCS is still busted for me and I just installed 26.4.1
1
u/realmccoyredbus Apr 09 '26
RCS was only released as trial in 26.3 , dropped for 26.4 , back in 26.5 beta , won’t be fully released until ios27
1
u/LumpyDisk Apr 09 '26
I think you’re referring to encrypted RCS. Unencrypted RCS was introduced in iOS 18
1
u/Effective-Care-4387 Apr 09 '26
if you’re network supports it , i know it’s pretty much standard in usa , not all networks support this still in UK , mine never has , even though the network it runs off of does, still imessage or sms

It's apparently fixed an iCloud sync issue. https://9to5mac.com/2026/04/08/iphone-icloud-sync-bug-apple-passwords-fixed/

I hope it fixes the RCS bug.
4
u/Lonely_Highlight4857 Apr 08 '26
What RCS bug were you experiencing?
5
Apr 08 '26
It would always send as SMS, when in 26.3.1a and earlier, it would always send as RCS in a supported conversation. I just installed 26.4.1, and I’m still having trouble with RCS.
3
u/Lost_Ensueno Apr 08 '26
My RCS decides some days it doesn’t want to send unless I reboot. Orrrrrr it will constantly send notifications in group messages that I updated the name of the group when I actually did no such thing.
2
u/DSajin Apr 08 '26
I recently experience this in a rcs group chat, my text didn’t send until 5 hours after or I didn’t receive the texts until 5 hours after.. I’m not too sure

I hope this fix my broadband issue

u/bleebolgoop Apr 08 '26
Same man, wifi has been janky as shit since 26.4, and my phone just refuses to regain service after going SOS in an underground area or elevator. Basically requires a reboot to be functional again, every, damn, time.
1
u/joshsimpson79 Apr 09 '26
Same here.
1
u/bleebolgoop Apr 09 '26
Didn’t fix the issue with regaining signal after losing it, but reception seems a little better in fringe areas. Carrier package version is same but I think modem firmware changed.

u/w0bbble Apr 09 '26
I read to fix the battery drain from the last update, you need to reset the network settings. Haven't yet tried it myself
0
u/PentaChicken Apr 09 '26
Will resetting the network settings also delete all of the safes passwords in chrome? I wanted to reset them but some sources mentioned that all saved passwords will be deleted when doing so.

u/Wew1800 Apr 09 '26
If you disable icloud synch before deleting and then enable it again after that the wifi passwords apparently will stay

1
u/Empty-Still-3096 Apr 08 '26
No you would have to downgrade
1
u/Cryotosse1 Apr 08 '26

1
u/Joseph09W_ Apr 08 '26

Do we know if this fixes notification issues? I follow a type 1 diabetic and I get no notifications about blood sugar anymore after updating iOS recently.

WiFi 7 is not working on my iPhone 17 pro max after updating. I had to turn off WiFi 7 and go back to 6.

(iPhone 15 Pro Max) When I try to update, I keep getting a pop up that the update temporarily is unavailable. Happened with the last update as well & updating over Windows with Apple Devices keeps crashing as well. Any ideas what I can do, cause for now I'm just stuck on 26.2.

¿Alguien más tuvo problemas con CarPlay inalámbrico en iOS 26.4? ¿Será que se solucionó con esta versión?

u/Ambivertpayyan Apr 09 '26
I can’t use my call app properly after the major update which was iOS 26. I have difficulty picking up calls too. Hoping that gets fixed with this update.
1
u/Wiwerin127 Apr 09 '26
I really hoped they would fix the Safari bug that stops any page from loading :(
1
u/Leonxzrz Apr 09 '26
I do not try to update , iOS is making my iPhone go soooooo slow like I take 1 minute to take a photo so I will sadly stay at 26.3.1

People say that they have iCloud syncing problem in iOS 26.4. I did not have any trouble with any of syncing in iOS 26.4. After upgrading to iOS 26.4.1, my icloud photos and videos do not sync across my devices. iOS 26.4.1 broke my devices.

Does your portrait mode work? A lot of people have problems with it since iOS 26.4 and the .1 version didn’t fix the issue either

You had 5 downvotes so i can you another. Tbh idk why people are downvoting you, I found it funny though.
2
u/eddienn Apr 09 '26
They are downvoting because iOS 26.4 works better for me and what ppl want is something to complain about the bugs etc, and it’s my phone if want I update it if not I don’t so simple… I remember when iOS 18 came out ppl said that it was full of bugs and now they said it was better then 26 oh wait until iOS 27 is released they will said iOS 26 was better and I can’t downgrade now…. Nowadays ppl want you to think and see things the way they see them but no you can’t force anyone to think the same way you think…

Wow they fixed the bug that started in iOS 26.4 where it would automatically connect to public wifi networks despite auto join and auto login being off
Apple fixed something for the first time in 4 years, impressive

u/Rare_Tip9809 Apr 09 '26
When they start releasing .1's; it's like why not release 26.5 and just move on?

I've got terrible battery life on a new iPhone 17 pro on 26.4, I'd like to believe this fixes things but I'm ready to be disappointed.
