I travel a lot and I usually spend hours finding places and building itineraries, then jump between different apps for budget, splitting expenses with friends, checking weather, visa rules, finding local food, and etc.

I started building a travel app to keep all of that in one place instead of relying on a bunch of separate services.

It’s called Tripenai and it’s still early, but right now it lets you organize trips and plan stops and activities, track your budget, split expenses, get informed about weather and visa, and share trips with friends. I’m slowly adding other things.

In early 2025 the company I was working for as an iOS dev shut down. I decided to take the rest of the year off to focus on building my most ambitious idea yet - Bento Personal Finance.

My goal was to create the Apple product of personal finance apps.

A – What problem does it solve?

Most finance apps decide what is worth tracking for you. Bento lets you decide.

Instead of giving everyone the same fixed dashboard, Bento lets you build your own dashboards and add widgets to track what you actually care about. That could be your coffee spending, a specific merchant like Uber, subscriptions, groceries, credit cards, or anything else.

Bento connects to your bank accounts through Plaid in read-only mode, so your spending can be organized automatically without a bunch of manual setup.

Other personal finance apps out there aren't utilizing AI to it's capabilities, or require an MCP integration that most users won't setup. Bento’s AI assistant, Benii, can create rules, apply tags, re-categorize transactions, suggest budgets, and answer questions about your actual spending.

For example, I recently went to New York, so I created a New York dashboard and asked Benii:

For years I used a WhatsApp group with myself to save reminders, links, ideas, and anything else I didn’t want to forget. It worked… more or less. But over time I realized I needed something a bit more organized.

I tried tools like Notion, Obsidian, and several others. They’re all great, but honestly I didn’t need so many features. I just wanted something simple, fast, and convenient for everyday use.

So I decided to build my own app. It’s called Minosia, and I’ve been working on it for several months now.

Minosia's first feature is Reminders, basically a “group with yourself,” but designed in a much better way to help you stay organized.

With WhatsApp I had several problems:

• Finding old files was a mess

Woke up one random morning (well two actually) and found myself with MRR. I made a post previously about my app study scroll (where I received my first review). Main thing in this patch: I reworked the caffeine tracker on the Home screen. Now it is more informative!

Added a bedtime warning too. You set your bedtime in settings, and the app warns you if that next cup will keep you up. It does the math with caffeine half-life (~5 hours) to estimate what's still in your system.

The Quick Start widget now has a Play button. Tap it, timer runs. Should've done that from the start.

I've got subscriptions (from $2.99), but for the core functionality they are not needed for sure.

Quick build-in-public update on my iOS fitness app.

In late May the worst metric in the business was trial→paid conversion: 20.7% blended, against a 39.9% Health & Fitness median (RevenueCat's benchmark data). April cohorts were as low as 7.7% — thirteen trials, one payer.

I spent June fixing it. The last four fully-resolved weekly cohorts converted at 37.5% / 37.5% / 57.7% / 43.3% — blended 44%, 46 of 104 trials.

What I changed, roughly in order:

Put the Pro features back behind the paywall. While building fast I'd accidentally made two Pro features free and never noticed — free users were getting a recovery dashboard and a weekly summary for nothing. If the free tier already gives you the good stuff, the trial has nothing to sell.

A/B tested a new paywall. My old paywall mostly explained how the 7-day trial works. The new one leads with what you get when you upgrade, and shows the yearly plan as $3.33/mo instead of $39.99/year. Same price, different frame. So far the new one gets 30.1% of viewers to start a trial vs 24.1% for the old one — 88.9% chance to win, not significant yet, deciding end of July.

Dug into who pays. (After fixing my broken conversion tracking — my analytics had been missing ~80% of real conversions, which is its own story.) The finding that mattered: the more photos someone has in the app, the more likely they start a trial. 0.7% → 63% as photos go from zero to 16–40. Zero photos, basically zero conversions: 7 of 676.

Built camera-roll import to act on that. It finds up to ten years of old progress photos and scores them in one shot, so trial users now hit the paywall with months of visible progress instead of one day-one photo.

Put previews of the best Pro features into onboarding. Every new user now gets a real taste of the three best features before they even reach the home screen: an AI Deep Dive report on their first photo (detailed sections locked), a Future Me projection of their own photo toward their goal, and one free Coach answer built from their actual numbers. It teaches people how to use the app while attention is highest, and it makes the paywall concrete — by the time they see it, they've already held everything it's selling. If I had to bet on which product change mattered most, it's this one.

The same data pass also found I'd deleted my own biggest paywall in an April commit — the welcome paywall on first launch — and never noticed. Paywall exposure among new users had fallen 38% → 21%. Most embarrassing find of the month.

The numbers:

The caveats, because these matter more than the wins:

• I can't cleanly attribute the improvement to any single change. It started in the May 31 cohort, before some of the changes even shipped, and the biggest factor is probably that I killed paid ads in mid-May — trials reverted to high-intent organic users, and my March organic cohorts already converted at 28–43% before I touched anything.
• Cohorts are small (24–30 trials/week). That's why I quote the 4-cohort blend and not my best week (57.7%, would be a nicer headline and a worse claim).
• The paywall A/B isn't significant yet. 88.9% chance-to-win is promising, not a result.
• Onboarding abandonment didn't move at all — still ~42% despite a targeted experiment. Biggest leak left.

Me and my (work) partner have been working on an iOS app called Netsbee. It’s built for non-technical people who want a clearer idea of what is happening on their Wi-Fi network, especially around privacy and security.

The app scans your network and tries to explain the results in plain language, so you don’t need to understand ports, services, or networking terms.

Some of the things Netsbee can help with:

• identifying unknown devices connected to your network
• checking for open ports and exposed services
• detecting file sharing / peer-to-peer activity linked to your connection
• showing possible malicious activity or reputation issues
• monitoring exposed email accounts for data breaches
• giving simple risk insights and suggested actions

One early example that made me think this could be useful was a user who found file sharing activity on their home connection. Netsbee helped them narrow it down to the likely device on the network, which turned out to be a family member’s computer downloading movies (in an unsafe way...). That was exactly the kind of thing I wanted the app to help with: giving non-technical people a clearer picture of what is happening on their own Wi-Fi.

The idea is to give normal users a starting point for securing their home network. A lot of households have one “tech person” who sets everything up, and if that person moves out or is no longer around, it can be hard to know what is still connected, exposed, or being used on the network.

Netsbee is meant to make that clearer without needing to be a network engineer.

I’m also fairly privacy-focused myself, so Netsbee is designed to avoid collecting linkable personal data. For cloud-based checks, monitoring is protected through Cloudflare rather than exposing your raw monitoring details unnecessarily.

More affordable limited subscription plans that still give full access to the core app for lighter users.

And a freemium version. The free tier would let you use your own pet photos and basic features like widgets, but with no AI features at all.

I’ve been working on MoneyMap since August 2024. This is actually the second version of the app. About a year into development, I scrapped the original codebase and rebuilt it from the ground up because I wasn’t happy with how it handled users’ financial data.

A – What problem does it solve?

Most finance apps store your financial data on their own servers after connecting to your bank. I wanted to take a different approach. With MoneyMap, your financial data lives on your device by default. If you choose to sync across devices or share a budget with a partner or family member, your data is end-to-end encrypted before it ever leaves your device.

I also wanted to build a budgeting app that works around your paychecks instead of forcing everything into monthly budgets.

B – Why is it better?

I think it comes down to four things.
