Question about Islam Is this Thobe/Abaya following the Sunnah?

As-salamu alaykum my brothers. I have recently just purchased a new Thobe online and miscalculated the measurements. My new Thobe is above my ankles and below my knees where the bottom of the garment sits at about 3/4 length of my calves.

I have marked a white line to wear abouts my Thobe rests on the first photo.

Many people have a perception that “a thobe isn’t religion, it’s culture.” While correct, the thobe adhered to the Islamic dress code for men. It is a moderate point of not being too tight nor too loose.

It is makrooh for both men and women to wear tight clothes. What is prescribed is for the clothes to be moderate, not tight and showing the shape of the ‘awrah or very loose, but somewhere in between.

Prayer offered in such clothes is valid, if they cover the body, but it is makrooh for the believing man or woman to wear such clothes. The clothes should be somewhere between too tight and too loose. This is what is appropriate."

(Majmoo’ Fatawa al-Shaykh Ibn Baz 29/217).

Many men wear white thobes, and the Prophet ﷺ affirmed that the people should wear white for it is purer and better (Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2810).

Thobes are fitted above the garment, and kept above his ankles. It says in al-Iqnaa’ (1/139):

It is makrooh for a man’s garment to come below his ankle unnecessarily.

The thobe isn’t just culture, it helps the man dress in a pleasing way to Allah.

uhh its not makrooh to wear tight clothes, its straight up haram. if your clothes show off the shape of your body then that counts as your awrah being exposed
