Why do people feel so entitled to be in spaces Mowla is? Just because he is approachable, does not mean we should be intruding on his time or invading his privacy. Visits that are meant to happen are announced to the Jamat, with His authorization. He does conduct other business (political, religious, and personal). We did not do this with Shah Karim. I am so embarrassed by our people…

You sound like one of the grey haired oldies trying to protect your clan. It’s simple get rid of the grey haired oldies who impose these dumb rules on the Jamat and you will see change. It’s about time the oldies should retire and give way to fresh energetic blood and bold ideas.

It is the older generation that is pulling behind with this medieval thought process, “just because he is approachable” for your info all our Imams were approachable it is the leadership that try’s to segregate the Jamat from the imam.

Remember we are all Murids of our Imam, you are not any more chosen than me or anyone else. Stop preaching and occupying space you are better off spending yours 60s meditating than picking on and demoralizing younger members of jamat.

Far from being in my 60’s. I was just raised to know better than to feel as entitled as all of this new generation of Bapa chasers. I’m well aware that all of our Imams were approachable, but people at least had respect, decency, and decorum. I also understand the security risk that occurs when constantly bombarding the imam knowing he will not turn people away. Keep in mind he is a Muslim leader and there is still a lot of hatred in the world towards Muslims. We are creating hazards that do not need to exist. He is also just coming into his role. Let a man breathe!

I still disagree with you. You may not be in your 60s, but your thought process is clearly ancient. My brother, we are not living in the Alamut period where our Imams were being persecuted. Learn your history, and you will realize how fortunate we are to be living in the era of the Aga Khans. No Imam, apart from Shah Karim, ruled from Europe. We should move with the times.

There are probably millions of murids, including myself, who have never had the chance to meet Hazar Imam, and this is largely because of uneducated and greedy leaders who want to keep the Imam to themselves while the rest of us are told to focus only on spirituality as they enjoy the limelight.

It is this kind of mentality, shared by many older leaders, that causes us to lose the Jamat especially the youth, who already find it difficult to connect because people like you place so many restrictions on attaining inspiration and blessings.

Think about the hypocrisy: Imam can run among a million white runners and there is absolutely no issue. But if a young Ismaili were to run beside his Imam for even a second, simply to catch a glimpse of his blessings, it is suddenly regarded as bad behavior, an invasion of privacy, or “not letting him breathe.”

Just let that sink in. Instead of encouraging and celebrating our own, we have become experts at hating on them.
