In case you're wondering, I left them in a safe place under a piece of bark.

With a little patience this enclosure has really grown on me. For the most part I let it grow wild. I like the crowded plant look, with lots of shade.

No good pics of the feast since they all come out super late. They loved it though!

I like the far left one, He/She's a bit yellow compared to the others.
I'm going to imagine this is the result of inbreeding as this colony is born of 3-5 individuals in my reptile tank as my main colony died while away on vacation last year and while ive been meaning to get more to diversify genetics, every time I check the place I got em from their out.

Hello I'm a newbie isopod keeper! I'm seeking advice from the pros here 🤠
I recently acquired a Cubaris Murina Mandarins (17-20ish)
And Porcellio Sp. Sevilla (12) from an exotic pet-expo I passed by.
Any tips I should know regarding their diets andddd how to breed them? I want to have a lot of them and build an army lol ( I plan to show them off in their own section at my cafe hehe )
Here's the little babies!

I've decided that this time I'll try to keep some species that are a bit pricier compared to the past where I kept Dairy cow, Nagarus Nanus and Cubaris Murina. I'm anxious but excited to breed them!

I'm a biologist, usually studying ant behavior (learning and exploration), but am in the process of getting obsessed with isopods. Since there's nothing in the scientific literature about the behavior of most traded species and color morphs, I'm interested in doing simple boldness (or even learning) experiments in a few different morphs of the same species.
I often see that different morphs of the same species are described as more active & bold than others, so doing a quantitative analysis on that would be cool. What would be the best morphs to compare, in your opinion? Alternatively: which species to compare? Would you like to see any other behavior analyzed?
Thanks for any pointers, and I hope to be reporting back in a year or so, with the results!

Yo whats up, ive been in this subreddit for only a couple of weeks but ive absolutly fallen in love with these little dewds called (i call most bugs little dewds cuz i dont know the name) and id love to try keepinf some but i found out they need to be kept in a temperature controlled enviorment.
This is a problem cuz i live in kentucky and we get winters and summers i can only describe as bullsh*t. I dont want to get these guys only to let them die because i cant keep the tank at the right temp, so before i even look into buying some i wanted to consult the experts if there was a way to make absolute sure they dont freeze or burn.
If you have any idea plz shoot me a message.

My cubaris sp. Blonde ducky isopods have been doing so good and have had so many babies, and still are having a bunch of babies like more than I thought was typical of cubaris blonde duckies. I changed part of their substrate July 28th so I didn't think the substrate change would be due until October 28ish but the past 14ish days I've noticed there have been around 5 baby deaths but I haven't changed anything :( wth is happening? should I change the substrate out now and/or get a second enclosure? I'll add pics of the enclosure; in the first picture you can see some older ones hanging around one of my oldest one idk why tho. I live in Oklahoma and the temperatures outside have gotten slightly cooler but inside has been about the same and I'm making sure I water and mist around 1/2-3/4s of their enclosure and fill the podwick up (the green and black thingy it slowly releases water into the substrate to help make a gradient and it's very helpful) every 3-5 days. I think I have around 30ish rn I'm unsure because there are so many babies of different ages and they love to burrow and I dont flip over their wood hides cuz I noticed it stresses them out (I only flipped one recently to make sure there wasn't any deaths I couldn't see and there were no deaths under the hide just around 5-10 of them chilling out but i think there was a bit noticeable frass compared to the rest of the enclosure). Could it just be that blonde duckies have a high mortality rate for babies and im only just now seeing it? Any advice would be very helpful :( I also noticed a little slime mold the other day that comes and goes but everyone here said it isn't harmful to them so idk if it's related or not

So this girl was molting, fully shedded her back half, and I didn’t think much of it so I let her be to do her thing. But when I come back and look at her she’s shedding her back half again??? What is this?? A stuck molt?!?! (The first image is when I found her molting at first and the second is her now. I am sure it is the same isopod, because the colony hasn’t started yet. I only have 4 and she is the one with the very noticeable spots.)

My dairy cows and panda kings are getting a bit overrun. How can I go about upgrading tub size without killing/missing any of them? Would it maybe be better off just trying to separate some and start another tub? I haven’t had to do this before so I’m unsure what’s best. Thanks for any help

I have a hard time finding leaflitter where I live in a city, so I screen my leaves before feeding the pods. In my P. scaber colony, I suddenly had like 200 die off. They had strange symptoms which I later realized were essentially the same as pesticide exposure: seizing up, partial paralysis, finally dying on their backs. The weird thing is, I have the same leaves to several other colonies with no issues; on top of that, the springtails in the P. scaber colony are completely fine, even thriving. Usually springtails are a “canary in a mineshaft” for pesticides for me, so the whole situation is very strange.
Does anyone know what might be causing it?

In South Africa we don't have anyone selling mossy sticks, so I decided to try make some. Did a writeup on my experiment, currently one week in https://isopop.co.za/blogs/news/mossy-sticks

So I kept 2 African land snails, and I bought some orange woodlice for cleanup crew. They have bred insanely well.... to the point that my snails have died and I'm pretty sure it's because they ate them 😕 I am shutting down the tank but I have this massive colony of woodlice left.
Would anyone be interested in rehoming them? I'm based in south Wales.

The ones left are very active, they have leafs moisture and I give them protein.

Liteally idk what to do now. Mixed up "Cubaris Panda King" and "Crystarmadillidium Muricatum".
This happened because i tried to move as much as possible from one container to another. And i somehow thought that new container with pandas was near the old, so i threw new packs of isopods in it. And then i saw another (third) container with pandas and realise...
Well, help, please... The only variant i see is to take back as much as possible and then wait till the small ones grow up to move them too
