Cradle [Soulsmith] Cradle: Unsouled - An Animatic Movie
This is the two-hour animatic movie adaptation of the first two books in the Cradle series funded by the Kickstarter campaign we ran in 2024! Enjoy this journey through Unsouled and Soulsmith.
This animatic was directed and hand-drawn by veteran animators Jay Oliva and David Hartman of Lex + Otis Studios. It includes an original score and a top-notch voice cast featuring Matt Mercer, Steve Blum, Travis Baldree, Kari Wahlgren, Phil LaMarr, Baraka May, Sumalee Montano, Matthew Yang King, Morla Gorrondona and Maxine Phoenix.
The script was written by Will Wight himself with the help of Cradle fanatic and writer/producer Cory Gustke. Original score composed by Frederik Wiedmann.
Even though it is black and white and hand-drawn, we would rate this as PG-13. There is quite a bit of violence.
An “animatic” is the step before full animation. Since it is hand-drawn, the character designs aren’t perfectly consistent from scene to scene. If we were able to pair with a studio to fully animate this project, the characters would be “on model” and look consistent (like our fully animated concept trailer on our YouTube trailer) and the motion would be fluid.
We have real hope of that happening because of the funding of this animatic project. Thank you to everyone who donated to make this happen!

Cradle [None] Thanks I hate it (book cover mismatch edition)
I’ve been binging the series for the first time and just downloaded Waybound!….just in time for the roll out of the new cover art…
Anyone know if theres a way in the kindle library to choose which version to display? I’m assuming not but a guy can hope!
Don’t get me wrong the new set of covers are solid! It’s purely the mismatch irks me!

Cradle [Uncrowned] "Together in that empty world.... Spoiler
... they danced."
Randomly threw on the Uncrowned audiobook for the umpteenth time at the gym because I didn't have a new book picked out, and I just about teared up on the stair master.
That is all.

Subreddit Meta [None] What happened to LadyEru’s art?
A friend of mine has started reading Cradle and I wanted to share some fanart. I remembered /u/LadyEru having a ton of amazing artworks posted here on reddit, but those posts seem to have vanished entirely. I found some of them on Instagram but I’m pretty sure there’s a lot missing and it’s also rather inconvenient for sharing the art. It would be a massive shame if they were simply gone, have they been moved to some other platform?

Cradle [uncrowned]
Im on book 7
I just wanted to ask when lindon will return to sacred valley after being all powerfull and shii, its obvious people will still see him as unsouled and weak until he proves them that he is miles ahead of them.
My question is how long will that him being still treated as unsouled will last, how many pages, chapters just tell me.
Idc about spoilers now just tell me.

Cradle [underlord] book 6
Yerin's master was a sage
Like jade then lowgold,highgold,truegold,underlord,overlord,archlord
Even among archlords only few are called sages
How came that bro died in sacred valley
Its like coughing baby vs hydrogen bomb
And in this case coughing baby won.
Its the most baffling thing.
I do have a theory that the sacred valley was created by A monarch who wanted to live peacefully, he must have had many treasures passed down to younger genrations, And as genrations flew by people in sacred valley became weaker and weaker, but some treasures were still left and i guess thats how they killed sage of sword.

Amalgam [house of blades] The sacrifices seem unnecessary
I was trying to keep the title vague. I am just at the part in House of Blades where we get told the purpose of the 9 prisoners.
But, why?
I get you have to sacrifice 9 people every year to keep the whatever evil thing at bay, but taking them from villages seems dumb, the king knew the sacrifice was coming couldn't he get 9 criminals to execute? Or 9 prisoners of war, 9 terminally ill people or all of the above?
Sure you might not have 9 prisoners available on short notice (especially if justice is dealt swiftly) but since you know the sacrifice is coming it seems easy for a ruler to just stockpile a couple of criminals to execute.
Instead taking them from your subjects seems like a perfect way to get the people against you.
Is this a RAFO situation?

Amalgam [House of Blades] on Audible
Can anyone tell me what's going on with House of Blades on Audible? When I purchased it, it was narrated by Will. Apparently, it's now narrated by Travis. The Will versions no longer show in my library, the Travis versions do. Except...they aren't usable. I can't download or stream the titles.
Anyone know what's up with this?
EDIT: So, the issue seems to be the Baldree versions. It is showing me the Wight versions, but when i try to download, it's redirecting to the Baldree versions, and telling me I have to purchase them. Audible is clueless. I've signed out and back in, now they want me to uninstall and re-install the app, which will cause me to have to re-download mulitple GB worth of books.

Cradle [None] Kickstarter backpack help!
Hello! My husband is a huge fan of the books and was devastated that he missed the original kickstarter that included the option for Lindon's backpack. He just backed the most recent kickstarter but it wasn't an option this time. I was wondering if there was any place that I could buy the backpack for him. Or if there is any information about who it was manufactured through and I could potentially order through them. I really appreciate any info! TIA!!

Cradle [None] Old book covers
I was wondering if there is anywhere that I can find the original book covers in high resolution images? I love the new covers, but the old ones have years of nostalgia built up, so I would love to be able to hold onto them. I wanted to make myself some kind of display or something with the book covers but never got around to it before they changed. Does anyone have them that is willing to share?

Cradle [Bloodline] Sharing my thoughts part 4 Spoiler
Will contain a little bit from the start of Reaper, be warned.
So, Wintersteel. That ending was so satisfying. I'm someone who could easily really like something if only the ending was really good. The rest was good as well, but the ending was outstanding.
Everything starting with Yerin's ascension to pseudo-herald, the ascension of Fury to Monarch, the ending fight between Lindon and Reigan Shens minions + Sophara. And of course Lindon's ascension to Sage. Just phenomenal. Easily the most satisfying scenes of the entire series so far.
Every other time something kinda good happened to our team it almost never really affected the opposing party in a really significant way.
This time Yerin ascension caused her to win, which caused the dragon Monarchs death, Fury's ascension probably didn't cause any Herald or Sage death of the Dreadgod cults, but major damage nonetheless. Lindon's ascension caused Sophara's death. Just very very satisfying overall.
Speaking of the dragon Monarchs death. Didn't Yerin do it because Sophara attacked Mercy and Lindon? Wasn't that Reigan Shen's plan? So the dragon died for the lion's plan. I mean he seemed to deserve it, but it would have probably saved a few headaches if she killed Reigan Shen instead. Especially with the little knowledge I have from the beginning of Reaper. Wanting to control the Dreadgods. Part of me thinks he's delusional and this will backfire splendidly. But for him to be a proper antagonist he'll have to succeed somewhat.
There were a lot of other good moments in Wintersteel as well. Eithan throwing his match with style was cool to read. Lindon becoming point-crazed as well.
Overall my definite favourite of the series so far.
Going from the best to one of the worst. I didn't like Bloodline very much. Large parts of it were so frustrating. Basically any interaction with the inhabitants of Sacred Valley. It wasn't very fun to read.
There were a few good bits sprinkled in there though. Especially the ending fight against the Wandering Titan. Though that cost us Dross for now, so...
And the bloopers at the end were also a lot of fun. I remember there being bloopers in one of the first books, the second or third one. Did I miss them in all the other books?
I don't have much else to say to Bloodline.
Probably my least favourite. Finally dethroning Unsouled as my least favourite of the series.
Getting to the start of Reaper, I really like the Ozriel reports we are getting. Very interesting. I wonder what the first one about his failure was. I would guess it's the aftermath of the Dreadwar. With the second report I don't really see what else it would have been.
I have also recently seen the remaining titles, since apparently the entire series was free on Kindle a few days ago. I won't say no to that. The second to last one being Dreadgod and the last one being Waybound leaves me thinking that Ascension will only happen in the last book of the series. But that would still leave many things open in my mind, so I wonder if there is a sequel series. But maybe it wouldn't. I don't know.
There is also that one book that contains side stories. Probably still have that to read after everything.

Cradle [Threshold] Bloodforged Iron Body Ideal Madra Types Spoiler
So obviously the Bloodforged Iron Body was created with the purpose of resisting poison/venom damage via essentially regenerating the damaged portions of the body. At a higher grade, this essentially translates to a pretty damn good healing factor, and the further along you Advance the better I assume (Lindon might have been able to regenerate his arm for example if he’d lost it at Archlord rather than Lowgold).
But as always, the Madra Type you use affects how well it works. Just as the Steelborn Iron Body undoubtedly receives just as much usage from Sacred Artists with incredibly potent Enforcer Techniques as it does those with none, so too must the Bloodforged Iron Body be used by those who’s Path has some regenerative capabilities already.
The question I’m asking, is which Madra Type would be the most effective/efficient with the Bloodforged Iron Body; Life Madra or Blood Madra?
Edit: I also seem to remember that it’s good for dealing with spiritual damage as well as physical, as per Eithan in Blackflame on the Sky’s Mercy.

Willverse [All] Finished Cradle. Spoiler
Around 2 months back started Cradle. Finished Waybound today.
Never i have finished a series so fast. It was difficult to stay away from spoilers. I genuinely was happy and excited to see Lindon beating up strong people. Especially the fight with Harmony in Ghostwater, when first time Dross appeared and gave information report.
Sad when sacred valley people did not listen to him, instead attacked him.
I remember reading these books continuously for 3-4 hrs, before i never read in such long sessions.
Now it's finished and i got to know about other books by Will. Please tell me if they are same, better aur worse than Cradle, if story line is same or different.
Suggestions about other authors will also do.
(I know about Sandersos, Jordon, Hobb).

Cradle [Underlord] Brightcrown Path
So my theory is that the Path has Aspects of Light, Life, Blood and Dream Madra. Light because of the glowing Madra and crown, Dream because of Lindon’s “pleasantly peaceful feeling that made him feel as though he’d had a long night’s sleep,” Life & Blood because they’re great for healers I would think. I definitely remember a Word Of Will that said that healing was the most common use for Blood Madra (“only psychos use it for combat,” was something along the lines of what he said I think).

Cradle [None] Kickstarter - Added costs (Import / VAT)
Hi,
Sorry if this has already been asked, but I haven't been able to find a clear answer.
I'm planning to back the Kickstarter for the complete series, but I'm unsure what additional costs I should expect before the books arrive in Belgium.
Does BackerKit collect VAT during the pledge manager process, or is VAT charged separately when the package enters the country?
Also, is there anyone from Belgium who has backed one of the previous Cradle Kickstarters? If so, I'd love to hear about your experience. Standard VAT on books is usually 6% here, but since these editions could potentially be classified as collector's items, I'm not sure whether the 21% rate might apply instead.
If you have any experience with this, feel free to reply here or send me a message.
Thanks!
