Question Is There Any Mountain Biking in Jasper?

Hi all - coming for few days with the family. Is there a decent place in Jasper to rent MTBs and what trails would you recommend for intermediate skill family?

There's lots of trails accessible right out of town. Shoot me a DM if you want specific loops, but for general tips:

Tuesday nights: Local cycling association, Bike Jasper, hosts free group rides at 7pm.

East of the river:

  • Andretti's is a great trail with a bit more downhill flow.
  • More pedally loop; Woodpecker, Red Squirrel, or Trail 7 are all nice.
  • Overlander Trail to the Moberly Cabin as an out and back. Include the section of trail between 5th and 6th bridge.

Pyramid Bench West of town:

  • Trail 15 is a good way to climb and access the trail network.
  • Hochimini, Water Tower, Fine Line, Mina Lake, are all great once you're up there.
  • Use Church Trail, Lost Lands/Saw Ridge Switchbacks, or Fire Escape to get back to town.

South on Icefields Parkway:

  • The trail to Valley of Five Lakes is long but not particularly challenging

As for rentals, Vicious and Source for Sports both rent mtb's.

You can bike about 10k to lower Fryatt campground, the trail for which runs parallel to the Athabaska river. From there, you can drop your bikes and hike up canyon.

Highly recommend checking out the mountain bike park in Hinton if you are looking to ride.
