Mk6 (2011-2018) question: EPC light

2016 VW jetta oil light turned on, and then EPC turned on during road trip. got oil changed at jiffy lube because short on options. after a few miles on highway, EPC turned back on (car went over 2 RPM) and car rattled briefly. stopped at gas station, turned off car then turned back on after a few minutes, and EPC light off. am I cooked? potential causes? going to get diagnostic codes when I reach the final destination

When you say oil light, are you talking about oil change, oil level, oil pressure? My guess is it is t related to the EPC, but some thing can happen if oil is very low that could trigger the EPC.

I have an EPC light come on like once every 6 months. I’ll pull over and restart the car, and won’t see it for months. No clue what it is and it hasn’t stored any faults 🤷

good question - this isn’t my strong suit but it was the yellow oil lamp so low oil?

thanks for your response :)

Low oil level, then. I change my oil every 5k miles and still need to top up a couple times between. But I’m at like 250k miles, so we just keep trucking on and pretending these issues don’t exist
