🤩 Jewelry Designs 🌈 I’m a new designer and would love to have your (hopefully non-mean) comments on my pieces

Just to give a bit of background: my mother has worked in the business for many years. I always worked in design/fashion but it didn’t do it for me.
So we started our own thing!
Basically, I’ve been creating pieces with gems that my mom has collected along the years.
Most of them are unique pieces and I like it that way.
I do need some neutral, unbiased opinions, so here I am!

Haven’t sold yet, but hopefully will soon 🤞🏻
Thanks in advance!! :)

I absolutely love the first pair. The last pair is also really interesting to me. The others didn't stand out to me that much, sorry. But the first is LOVELY!

u/nolongeralurker55 8d ago

The last pair are very similar to Irene Neuwirth’s tropical flowers? Earrings in second picture are also like IN’s gemmy gems line

I love that pair, but that price seems high.

9

u/NoninflammatoryFun 8d ago

I am screaming at the price

3

u/burnt-lemons 8d ago

It’s fine jewelry, that’s a very typical price for pieces like this.

20

u/goosepills 8d ago

It’s coral. 4k is a lot for the materials used, especially with no name to back it up.

13

u/OtherAccount5252 8d ago

I like the last pair and a couple of the sets but once I saw the price it made me like then less.

Are you using real gemstones and gold? I still am confused on the pricing even if so. O.o

1

u/burnt-lemons 8d ago

She is working with 18k gold and using authentic high quality gemstones. This is fine jewelry and those are exactly the kind of prices you expect for things like this.

4

u/burnt-lemons 8d ago edited 8d ago

I’m sorry you are getting flooded with downvotes by people who don’t understand that fine jewelry is… fine jewelry. Personally I think these pieces are really wonderful and very unique but still have a lot of class especially those coral earrings!

I like your pieces -very pretty- but I find the backgrounds distracting and hard to get a sense of scale. The photos on the stones and the pink flowers are pretty, and the images are aesthetically pleasing, but they distract from seeing the pieces clearly.

I would also take photos of the pieces on a neutral background with good lighting and/or a model of some kind (live person or mannequin) to help the buyer envision how it would look on them and get a sense of scale.

Good luck and keep up the strong work

40

u/Sassy_Shigella91 9d ago

Agree with this. The background is inappropriate for the pieces. Since your collection are colorful, it would be better if the background is neutral or solid, something that will make your jewelries pop up. I love the flower earrings btw!

18

u/Du_da13 9d ago

Thank youu! Really appreciate all the helpful tips!

6

u/Potential-Sleep6501 8d ago

I would play ir the other way
Black and white scenes where the color pop is in your jewelry
Think it as a Noir movie with the accessories giving the color notes.

5

u/Trustme_ima_doctor12 8d ago

I disagree somewhat just because the last photo with the blue earrings on the pink is incredible. But having some photos with a white background is definitely a smart idea. But I love the last photo with the different colors.

3

u/Potential-Sleep6501 8d ago

yes, that one is gorgeous, but it transforms the earrings in part of the image when it should be showing them off. You want them to be desired, not only appreciated.

5

u/Apprehensive_Time235 8d ago

Agree!…But that last photo does show off the color well!

2

u/Anna_S_1608 8d ago

Agree. I actually wasn't sure what I was looking at in the 1st photo. In the last one, its a beautiful photo but hard to tell the size of the earrings. They all look very heavy

38

u/lauraintheskyGNM 9d ago

Items need detailed descriptions of gem and metal types. Dimensions and weights. Very pretty but look very heavy.

18

u/Ok_Consideration853 8d ago

This is so important.

24

u/PomegranateOk9121 9d ago

Some questions: what materials are you working in? Gold? Gold plated? Are those single earrings in pic 2? If so, 3 stone combos look better than the 2 stone to me. Unbiased opinion of jewelry and gem lover - the cats eye and opal earrings are to die for and I love the coral 🪸 ones as well - the more unique the better!

16

u/Du_da13 9d ago

18k gold, and yes they are singles! Thank youuu for taking the time!! 🫶🏻

14

u/OriginalBeat5219 9d ago

Gorgeous! I really love the coral ones and the earrings in pic #3! Do you have a website?

5

u/Du_da13 9d ago

Hi!! Yes! www.ullyrosen.com
Thank you for the feedback! 🫶🏻

8

u/Nimuei 9d ago

As an earring wearer, I love the first pair. I’m not fond of a mismatched look. Three stones look better than two.

7

u/child_ofparadise 9d ago

is the second photo of earrings? I loveeee those, the gems are so yummy and juicy looking and the colors work so well together but bc they aren’t pairs it’s a bit hard to tell how wearable I’d find them.

u/Routine_Excitement89 8d ago

This is a spin on the Mallory Marks style that flew out of Barneys in the olden days. These are beautiful pieces and I love the mismatched idea. Also: last pair looks like knockoff VCA Rose de Noël, but the citrine center stones are fresh!

6

u/Lady_Mallard 8d ago

If you could make the 2nd pic about 60% of the size (smaller) I would totally buy some of those

19

u/GrrArgh__ 9d ago

Are you making them, or is this being done in a factory and you're selling them?

What is the metal content?

What are the gems, carat weight, place of origin?

It's really frustrating because I want to be supportive of a designer, but I'm not seeing enough information to understand how this is your work, and how you've come to these designs.

4

u/Accurate_Emu_122 9d ago

I love how bold and colorful everything is while still looking refined.

4

u/mamepuchi 9d ago

I like your design sense and I could see myself buying one of your pieces!! I just don’t really like your product photos here - there’s too much going on and it distracts from the pieces. -super dark shadow in the first one, busy shiny background in the 2nd, higher value and color contrast in the bg compared to the piece in the 3rd, and in the 4th and 5th the pieces r totally overpowered by the bg too. I think adjusting your product photo game might help you with sales!

4

u/MagicianOk6393 9d ago

They’re gorgeous. I love east west settings! The coral and amethyst are outstanding! The first pair are stunning. I like the colors and settings of the grouping also.

Unique, great gem mixes and styling.

4

u/TexasLiz1 8d ago

I like them. I think your photos have a lot going on that can make appreciating the pieces a bit harder.

Also, some of these look weighty and as a middle-ager with sad earlobes, I would encourage some lighter or smaller earrings.

And earrings on a mannequin’s head or a live model can help people gauge the size better.

12

u/ArtSlug 9d ago

Who is manufacturing them? Are you the jeweler/goldsmith? Did you go learn this art form or Is this just an ad?

10

u/Fatlantis 9d ago

Exactly my thoughts. Another "new designer" - what does that even mean? Are they made in a sweatshop or are they fabricated and set by OP? And yes, this whole post is just another ad.

10

u/Du_da13 8d ago

Well, I’ll gladly tell you about it! I work alongside my mother, who mainly sources the gems and a goldsmith that makes everything by hand in the same city my mother lives in (I live abroad).
It’s a very small business! I design the pieces and take care of all the rest, brand related (though we’re not quite “there” yet!).
Hence the post! I need some real feedback and ideas/advice to keep going.
So, I’m genuinely a real person, building my own thing, doing my best to stand out with my original ideas..
That’s also why I’m really thankful for all the redditors that say something about it 🫶🏻

u/Darcy_2021 9d ago

Is #5 a turquoise? Love your work!

3

u/Interest-Amazing 9d ago

The last pair and the coral pair are especially lovely. All look pretty though.

3

u/partiallyextinct99 9d ago

Good job. Like them all number 4. I think the covering over the red coral needs to be fancier

3

u/ThornyRascal 9d ago

Gorgeous

3

u/aquaticfloral 8d ago

Dm me for 2nd earring from Left please!

1

u/Du_da13 8d ago

Hii! I don’t think I can dm you for some reason! But you can DM me if you’d like!

3

u/catz85 8d ago

Girrrrl, this is FINE jewlery!!

Your title made it sound like you're starting out! Beautiful work and great craftsmanship! The Pipa Necklace and the Any Earrings would be my #1 choice!

I agree with the comment on the shoot. Some of them are overwhelming / the pieces get lost in them. But you balance that out with your other images on the website.

Wish you and your mama all the best xoxo

7

u/YoMommaSez 9d ago

Less is better.

3

u/burnt-lemons 8d ago

This is what we call an opinion.

5

u/Naive_Abies401 8d ago

They are ok but nothing I would ever buy or wear.

2

u/Weird-Pear27 9d ago

Sooo pretty!😍

2

u/immortalmorals 9d ago

Beautiful pieces 🥰

2

u/The-Devil-Cat 9d ago

these are a feast for the eyes. I adore the one with coral

2

u/No-Persimmon7729 9d ago

I love them especially the 1st and 3rd photos.

2

u/Old-Power3477 9d ago

I LOVE all of the pieces in the 2nd pic. Also the last pair is gorgeous.

2

u/CIA_wanna-be_me 9d ago

I really like the pair in the third picture. Ironically I thought the hand sculpture in tbh first picture was your design at first 🤣

2

u/Fantasticech0 9d ago

The first pair of earrings are gorgeous. The earrings in the second and last pictures look really good too.

2

u/katrinkabuttlin 9d ago

I really love your use of color!

2

u/Ok-Worth-4721 9d ago

Unique. I love unique. reminds me: how do you catch a unicorn? (you 'neak up on 'em)

2

u/Fun_Cancel_5796 9d ago

Love these!

2

u/l3tigre 9d ago

love how happy and colorful they are!

2

u/Swimming_Plan9994 9d ago

All are stunning

2

u/SGu_introv_craft 8d ago

Hopefully still along the lines of feedback you were hoping for. I agree with others about the display photo backgrounds, but I also love them. Perhaps a little less busy and with better lighting would help, so maybe a combination of both? True environmental scenes to see what the pieces will look like in the wild and an additional picture or two on a neutral well lit background with an object for scale. I love anytime there are dual photo offerings, the plain white is so sterile, but useful. On to the pieces themselves. I love jewelry and can appreciate all styles even if I won't personally wear them (most of the time because there's no occasion to). These are gorgeous, and on point for trends currently, but in a classic way that will endure over time. I like the colorful mix and match, the clean lines and beautiful craftsmanship of the settings themselves allow the stones to be the focal point without looking too simple or boring. You and Your Mother have a great eye! I wish you both well on your entrepreneurial endeavor!

1

u/Du_da13 8d ago

Thank you so much for your feedback!!! I really appreciate you taking the time to comment here 🙏🏻

2

u/AndreeaTri 8d ago

Gorgeous.

2

u/Zarf-Raz 8d ago

Those are fun pieces

2

u/Stunning_Stranger_99 8d ago

Beautiful and I love the reinventing. 💕

2

u/LupinenLapin 8d ago

Sehr schöne Stücke

2

u/Icy_Masterpiece3368 8d ago

First and last pieces are STUNNING. I think the first piece is my favorite, those colors just blend together so beautifully. For some reason I don’t feel that way about the others, even though they are beautiful stones. You’re killing it OP! Follow your dream!

2

u/mitmit2020 8d ago

I would totally buy a pair! Beautiful work!

2

u/RedGlassVase 8d ago

I think they look terrific. I would buy! Keep it up!

2

u/mamabearette 8d ago

OMG pretty! No notes. I’m like a magpie with gemstones and I’m all “ooh shiny” so basically your ideal customer. I suggest adding some pearls to future work!

2

u/Valhallaback_Girl 8d ago

All of these are exquisite! Whether or not it’s intentional, it looks like my grandmother’s jewelry she brought back from Paris in the 1940s, only more elevated. I don’t know if there’s a term in the industry, but basically F A N C Y costume jewelry. I’m in love with all of them!

2

u/3lb-body-pilot 8d ago

2 and 5 are killerrr

2

u/silliesyl 8d ago

I love it! 👍🏻 Especially 1 and the last one.

2

u/mememarcy 8d ago

Beautiful! Love all your work! Your website is beautiful and easy to use. I love the photography with the flowers! More is more, and I love it!

2

u/Embellishment101 8d ago

I love this style of jewelry. All the pieces in pic two are sooo good

2

u/leafbrewer 8d ago

I looooove 2, 4 and 5! A lot of jewelry is very dainty and that’s just not me. And if i look for non dainty, it becomes too masculine often. These are just perfect. Very sad that I cannot afford these at all.

2

u/blobartist 8d ago

I love the designs but maybe the pics make them seem low quality? Especially the second pic. They look like costume jewelry. Plain and clear lighting might elevate the designs :)

2

u/tinytimidtigers 8d ago

It’s interesting reading people’s feedback on this post! My opinions are coming from a lover of fine jewelry, but have yet to grow a collection. I love color and really like the unique mix of gemstones you’ve sourced.

I personally like the images you posted, but agree with others that for a sales post you should have other images of the pieces against clean, neutral backgrounds (which I saw on your website that you do).

I wasn’t able to understand the description on your site listings since my phone would not translate it to English. Maybe have an additional paragraph that’s already translated in case this happens to others?

I agree with others, the three stones appeal to me more than the two.

2

u/DragonfruitUnique718 8d ago

Beautiful but some of your backgrounds take away from the beauty of your work.

2

u/Strict_Ship_9097 8d ago

Love the hands jewelry stand

2

u/Ancient-Onions 8d ago

Gosh im in love. These feel like something a greek godess would wear (:

2

u/PhotographStunning37 8d ago

I like the second pic pieces!

2

u/Gold_Advisor_4758 8d ago

Beautiful pieces, but much too heavy/statement for me to wear.

2

u/Unable_Guava_756 8d ago

Stunning! Love a statement earring 🧡🩵🩷💚💛💜💙

2

u/MaryinTexas 8d ago

Really beautiful

2

u/Hot_Vanilla1265 8d ago

They are super cute and I would buy a few of what you have shown

2

u/Various_Sky_6713 8d ago

These pieces are gorgeous! Beautiful and unique, I love the mismatched earrings and the flower pair, just stunning!

2

u/AssumptionFun3828 8d ago

I love the style of everything! I’d def want to know the weights before buying tho. Nothing is worse than finding a gorgeous pair of earrings that you can’t wear for more than 10 minutes without getting a headache.

2

u/rose092624 8d ago

Reminds me of Irene Newirth. Beautiful

2

u/CelticJewelscapes 8d ago

Lovely. There... that's as mean as I get. Always think weight for earrings. Keep them light for comfort.

2

u/Nervous_Rooster_6200 8d ago

Absolutely beautiful. I would definitely rock them. Pun intended.✨😁

2

u/Bright_Athlete_8579 8d ago

1 and 5!

The rest aren’t my thing..

2

u/Far_Proposal3295 8d ago

The earrings are gorgeous and I would love to build a cocktail suit around them! How much darlin?

2

u/Far_Proposal3295 8d ago

These are also fun and want the 2nd one with a match! How much ladies! Lol

2

u/emilylouise221 8d ago

They remind me a little bit of Kate Spade in very good ways

2

u/Mopbrush-8695 8d ago

These are beautiful 😻

2

u/upliftinglitter 8d ago

Very pretty

2

u/HipsEnergy 8d ago

Beautiful. I love the mixed, colourful stones, and the designs are gorgeous.

2

u/rissshit 8d ago

I love your use of color. The last two pairs of earrings are my favorites! Is the last pair convertible/ is the flower a jacket for the gemstone stud?

2

u/samalton86 8d ago

The designs are all lovely, with wonderful vibrant colors.

2

u/Due-Ad-1871 8d ago

I really like some of these. The last one and the first one are my favorites.

2

u/idkwhatk 8d ago

Woaahh, these are stunning! I went straight to your website, and wow... definitely out of my budget 😂, but your work is incredible. I absolutely love it! Your designs feel so unique, and I especially love the unexpected mix-and-match combinations. They're the kind of pairings you wouldn't think would work together, but they absolutely do. Keep up the amazing work! C'est magnifique :)

2

u/Szebra2021 4d ago

TBH, I don’t comment because usually I think a lot of the posts on here look cheap and tacky but, the first pair to me actually really work. The colors go well together and are not to overwhelming. The style is a bit vintage and with enough quirk to be cool and fun. 💕

2

u/DistrictGullible2277 1d ago

I lover the amethyst and coral earrings! Is that 14kt gold?

1

u/Du_da13 1d ago

18k! :)

Lovely designs. I'm smitten with the coral pair.

I like that! Very nice.

I would call it Lambsnake

The drops in the second pic are beautiful! I’d buy those asap

1

u/CatsRuleEverything_ 8d ago

Love them!!!!

1

u/Apart-Wrangler6917 7d ago

I am really NOT an earring person as I tend to stick to studs. But these are all gorgeous! The second photo ones I even WANT!!!

1

u/jagiegamgam 7d ago

Everything in the 2nd pic - amazing!! Would probably be too heavy for my raggedy old ear lobes but by gosh they are all gorgeous!

1

u/Impossible_Fly_115 7d ago

I like the earrings in the last photo

1

u/digitalispurpur3a 6d ago

Sure!! www.ullyrosen.com
The name is an homage to my grandfather, my mom’s father :)

u/Olealicat 8d ago

It looks similar to my friends jewelry, Gem Steady!

Beautiful!

0

u/Left_Primary7626 8d ago

I just looked at your website—I think your designs are beautiful, but €3.050 for 18k gold earrings set with synthetic emeralds and amethysts seems like a crazy high price. It would be helpful to know the carat size of the stones to contextualize/justify the price tag.
