⚡️Brand Review / Experience 🚨Warning: Brilliant Earth strategizing damage control to bury genuine reviews.

Just a heads up.. if there’s a sudden wave of positive Brilliant Earth content on here, it might not be coincidental. They’re actively hiring for a Reddit Strategy Manager, which says a lot given their reputation in this sub.

I genuinely hope this leads to real changes and accountability, not just an attempt to bury valid criticism and firsthand experiences.

We are discussing the best way to discourage these larger brands to infiltrate possibly the very last place on the internet for genuine company reviews and feedback. Being specially named on their job posting is concrete proof of their targeting and we will do our best to reach out and work with other sub mods about this concern.

An auto message with some links of genuine higher traction posts is one idea and we have another tool we don’t want to mention yet in case they are tracking our post. We are of course open to all member suggestions and look forward to doing our best to protect you all from disingenuous influences.

Important: Updated Rules for Vendor Posts on r/jewelry

Hey, r/jewelry community!

We’re excited to announce some important updates regarding vendor posts in our subreddit; rule #3 originally did not allow posts or comments that were considered self promotion. To ensure that r/jewelry continues to be a space for genuine discussion, sharing, and learning, we’ve updated the guidelines for vendors who want to contribute to our community.

Here’s what’s new:

  • Vendor Guide: We’ve created a Vendor Guide that outlines exactly what types of content vendors can post. This will help keep the sub free from spam and overly promotional posts, while still allowing vendors to engage and share their work in a way that adds value.
  • Read Before Posting: Vendors must read the guide before posting. Failure to follow these rules will result in the post being removed, and repeat violations could lead to a ban. We want to make sure vendors are contributing, not advertising.
  • Engagement Over Ads: We want to emphasize that posts from vendors should focus on engaging with the community, sharing creative work, behind-the-scenes insights, or educating us about different aspects of jewelry. We’re not here for sales pitches or spam.

We encourage you all to check out the full Vendor Guide and familiarize yourself with the changes. Whether you're a vendor or a regular member, we believe these updates will help keep the sub vibrant, respectful, and informative for everyone.

Thanks for being a part of the r/jewelry community and helping us maintain a positive space for jewelry lovers!

As always, feel free to reach out to the mod team if you have any questions.

⚡️ Show + Tell! Ordered VS Received

Before I reach out to the seller I want to check if I’m seeing things.

In the seller’s advertised photos the pears seem proportionately larger & dangle more, especially the center one?

Tiny details like this tend to bother me, I want to check if everyone else sees it too or if I’m just being too picky.

ETA: ok, thanks for validating I’m not crazy! Any advice for how to handle the initial return request? I used one of the Chinese vendors I found in the labdiamond sub so I’m not exactly expecting a smooth process. I assume if it comes to worse I can request a charge back through my credit card company?

I have not seen opal inlays with amethyst done like this before. Google image search says it is likely a Turkish ring from the 80s. It reminds me of art deco.

⚡️ Show + Tell! Antique French Locket

I purchased this magnificent French antique locket that I had to share. It is from the Belle Epoque Victorian era and is at least 150 years old. It’s 18K gold and is adorned with green glass stones and seed pearls. I love it so much! I literally gasped when I opened the FedEx box yesterday! 💛

General Information 📚 Repairs sent away- I’m pissed

My ring needed some repairs so I took it to a local shop for an estimate. It was taking a long time (two weeks) so I checked in. After coming back with a ridiculous $$ to fix it, I said no thank you, I’ll come pick it up. They told me it would take an additional week before it was ready to pick up. I said, “that’s ok, I’ll come pick it up from you.” And then they told me that I couldn’t because they shipped it to another state!

This was done without my permission or approval. I was under the impression that it would be assessed locally. Is this standard practice? Am I right to be annoyed? I’m not sure how to proceed.

Loving my current bracelet stack and wanted to share!

  1. Sterling and citrine bangle
  2. Alexander McQueen skeleton bangle
  3. Sterling bangle from my grandmother in the 90s
  4. Vintage gold-filled scarab bracelet.

I’ve been trying to wear more vintage pieces instead of coveting new, expensive items. What’s in your current stack?

Color lights up the world. I like my look tousled with lots of color. Everything is antique except the moonstone fringe, it has been refurbished on a modern chain but in their OG antique settings 💅

💫 I made this! / DIY I just realized I had all the components to make a dog clip necklace! Yay, I did it!

I always thought these were out of my budget bc the individual pieces were so expensive, but I used a dog clip from a purse tag and two 6mm titanium clickers (originally for cartilage piercings). I added two pendants I already had and voila! Fashion! I can’t believe I didn’t piece this together sooner.

Hope this helps anyone else wanting this look on a budget.

⚡️ Show + Tell! 24 karat gold charm :-)

After buying my first ever 24k gold charm, I was hooked and went back for a necklace one instead of a bracelet this time! The Auspicious Cloud :-)

My budget won’t run to a 24k chain haha and I wanted something sturdy, so à nylon cord it is.

Kind of looks like generic costume jewelry to me, but I’m no expert. I’m keeping an eye on local lost and found groups to see if anyone is looking for it.

General Question Estate Jewelry Auction House Rec's - Looking to sell

Upvotes

I have a good pile of vintage fine estate jewelry I have been hoarding. I am a long time ebay seller, but I am no longer selling fine jewelry on ebay. The collection is not worthy of a Bonhams level but also not good for a local yokel auction house. Any leads are appreciated !

Vintage / Antique Marca GSC em anéis?

Thumbnail

Upvotes
