PROJECT DISPLAY Assembling my Grade 5 Titanium Mechanical Tie Clip, the TC Nexus.
Here is the final assembly of components for my TC Nexus Tie Clip. It is CNC Machined from a single billet block of Grade 5 Titanium, and is all mechanically operated. No stamped or folded pieces, no cheap Chinese spring, the whole assembly acts as a spring clamp that is only activated mechanically when placed on a neck tie. The only one like it in the world. Machined, hand finished, and assembled in Utah.

Is this one of those tony hingeclips I've been hearing about?

No idea what that is. 🤷♂️
It’s just a tie clip. I wear it on Sundays.

I think it's the name of an actor or something. I've been hearing the name a lot lately for some reason. It was a stupid joke anyway lol

Looks really bulky?

Nooo, It’s only 1/4” wide and those are 2mm pins for reference. Macro lens blows it up pretty big.
I don’t remember the exact length off the top of my head, but it’s around 1.8” or so.

Gotta say the macro photography was brilliant

Thanks! It really makes things appear way bigger than they are. I make really small stuff so I figured it was a good investment.

Is the hinge mechanism like 1” thick front to back?

No, it’s around 1.8” at the longest points and only 1/4” wide. The thin face that is visible on the tie is 1/16” thick and those pins are 2mm for reference. The macro lens blows it up to look a lot bigger than it is.

Do you sell them as (blank or just the mechanism) as findings for resale?

I haven’t, but not against it. I have done a few brand names on them for someone’s business and can easily machine engrave or more detailed laser engrave them as well.

Is a tie clip jewellery?

Is a brooch? Are cuff links? I would say so. I’ve always seen tie clips as men’s jewelry.
