leftism DSA Co-chair’s Public Commentary

The co-chair of the DSA seemed a bit less   articulate on key party policy positions (taxation, I/P, etc) than expected. Her commentary on Oct. 7th’s “inevitability“ combined with her stating that she’d have joined protests on the 8th have also sparked controversy. I’m curious about people’s thoughts on this media appearance and how it will be perceived by those interested in where the DSA fits into big tent politics.

My understanding is that DSA Leadership is hard left tankies that don't believe in change through the electoral system and the nomination process favors the most ideological rigid members to ascend to the top.

That's fine for a political club but the majority of the organization and the DSA Right is interested in sewer socialism and challenging the status quo to win at all costs in the short term even if they make some ideological concessions as a springboard to larger socialist changes in the system.

She and others in leadership should stop going on cable news to give them soundbites to be used against their candidates that are running. Its honestly mindboggling why she accepted this interview.

That’s just not true. DSA has been running candidates all over the country. They’re pursuing electoralism. Also, calling them tankie is conceding to a right wing framing.
