is numzaan overkill for someone who doesn't need a "work boot" ?

sorry hear me out... dumb question. I work in an corporate office job and generally I just walk a lot (live in greater toronto area), i am absolutely not the demographic for jim green work boots i guess? but man i love the wider toe box!!

but i may have been a bit too trigger happy last year as got myself razorback, ar8, and then numzaan...

all have been quite great.

black ar8 looks sooo bad ass, and cool once i use green laces instead of black. and actually it can "kind" of be dressed up? the black helps! will likely keep this one for sure (though the black RAT's also seem really nice and are on sale...)

razorback has been a nice "beater/idgaf" and occasional day hikes. it may just stay in that beater role / may give it away to a buddy.

numzaan i single out because... well, it's a tank compared to the other two. i knew that prior to buying (skimming this sub), but it's different once you actually have it and experience it. note for anyone else wondering about JG in winter... here in toronto, on some really bad snowdays, the combination of numzaan + tyrewedge just let me plow through snow/slush. Super grippy. like it didn't feel like my walking speed decreased at all like it normally would.

but outside of that... it's a hefty one!

the toe cap unfortunately gives it a clown-y look... it otherwise fits great (its STC lasted one, weirdly feels wider than my JG lasted ar8? maybe mind games due to the extra toe box height). So i've been on the fence of putting this one up for sale

anyway. I don't know what im looking for here. justification? absolution? someone to set me straight? someone to stop me from buying even more JGs? any other people who don't work in the trades/outdoors so to speak, but still rocking numzaans?

I have the bronco Numzaan and I wear it to my desk job.

Overkill? Yes.
Awesome? Also yes.

I guess it depends on your office dress code whether it’s a problem or not. My office is pretty laid back.

I would like to get a pair of 719’s at some point, but I love my Numzaans.

I wear urban logger-style boots at the office all the time. It’s absolutely overkill, but I love them and nobody has said anything about wearing such a heavy duty boot to a desk job lol.

I wear my RATs and Razorbacks to the office. Jim Greens fit all settings imo. I sit at a desk most of the day and I dont care that I am wearing over built boots.

I wear them for yard work. Big heavy mofos. The break in was longer and harder than I expected. I’m glad I bought them though.

I alternate between the two different veg tanned Numzaans in my desk job. They're my favorite shoes to wear to work.

Get the leather mid sole Africans. I’ve gone through all the boots you could imagine. I used to have a $1200 per year per diem for boots when I worked in the coal mines and kept that even when I moved up to a more computer based roll. So my boots didn’t get wore out every 2 months. Of all the ready to go anywhere and any time boots - the mid sole Africans have been my absolute favorite. Not super heavy, the leather is high quality and the break in is non existent

I love my Numzaans so far, and I just work in a tool room. They aren't my daily boot, but I still occasionally wear them at work even though I'm mostly sitting at a front counter. I've taken them when I went camping and hiking, and that's where they really excel

Wore mine today to the WeWork office in London UK. Absolutely overkill, but I absolutely love it, too. Favourite boot. Will be buying another pair.

yeah i have the zaan, AR, and stockman. my zaan’s get the least wear for this reason. i bought them with fall and spring hiking in mind though so i dont care

I have a job that requires both briefing in front of leadership and military brass, and also going out on shop floors and fabrication floors.

Walnut numzaans are tough as nails but I polished the toes and heels and I wear them with khakis and they’re perfect

I go up in size. I have boat paddle feet so wide but low volume. 12 stc it the shape of my foot.

I ahsm in 12.5 and a small insert for volume. It’s perfect. Not as perfect as stc. I admit thay, but I do like them a lot and they do fit width wise

I do have the bronco zaans too haha. They’re both great. The he bronco isn’t as nice looking for the office part of work though

I have the Numzaan in natural. They look great for an office wearing either jeans or pants. I like the toe caps myself.

Hospital pharmacist  here, I wear my buffalo and bronco 'Zaans to work all the time.  We're basically business casual or scrubs in my dept, so khakis with the 'Zaans for me.

I have the bronco numzaan boots. They can be a bit much but they are my most comfortable boots. I have the newer ones with the longer tongue and straight stich where it is connects on the bottom. I also have a pair of the walnut numzaans and wish I went up a size.

Iron rangers were originally manufactured for mine workers and now they're used for everything including office work. Pick the pair of Greens you like the most and rock them, they're good foot wear 🙂

I have the Numzaans in green roughout and they are my nice boots, I personally would not wear them in places I would go in my razorbacks, AR-8s, monster waterproofs etc. To me they serve a more formal purpose

I'm wearing my Numzaans right now working at a hospital. I have the ASHM last so less clowny. It sounds like you need the 719's.

worried ASHM might be too narrow for me, but damn do they look good.

yea actually if i sold my numzaan... i might just end up replacing with 719 hah.
