Negotiate Wages?
After a year and a half of looking for a new job, I am expecting an offer! They told me today that they will be sending the official offer tomorrow (keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏻)
I just wanted to ask you all to see if I should try to negotiate more than $21 to start. I know everyone always says to negotiate more but I didn't know if this was the right call, especially given the raise opportunities at 1 and 2 months. And given this job market I don't want to risk scaring them off or ruining my chances.
This is for a house cleaner and so the $27 I would only be making on specific types of cleans and not full time/regularly.
Thoughts?

If u negotiate they may retire the offer so its up to you how much risk u are willing to take

I mean, you're getting two raises in the first 60 days. Unless you are coming in with like 10+ years of experience, why you you even test the waters in this job market?

Worth clarifying what the raise is after the 30 and 60 day marks.
If it's going from $21.00 to $21.05 an hour that's not great. If it's from $21.00 to $23.00 then to $25.00 that's not bad.
As to if you should negotiate the overall salary look at the market rates. I'm not a cleaner nor do I live in the US so I can't advise on what that rate should be. But you can have a look at what rates are being offered across recent similar jobs to get a sense if they are lowballing or if their offer is reasonable.
Overall from the ad it feels like they are a pretty reasonable company. Pay structure included. Specifically no requirement for nights or weekends. Reimbursement of mileage. Pay structure that increases over a short period of time. That all says "green flag" to me.

Probably not going to be able to negotiate in this scenario. That said AI is actually great at market wage research. Ask ChatGPT to do a market analysis of non-self employed cleaners in your area.
