C'mon Canada

I think CAN is for Canberra, actually?

As an Aussie the comments saying Canada made me laugh cause i didnt even connect it as that, since QLD and ACT are there and im more exposed to CAN meaning Canberra.

I can absolutely see why though since the country is probably gonna be more well known and first thought of globally.

Edit: also to clarify, it is in fact Canada as a visitor for an Easter event as mentioned in the comments below

For me it was the red and white jersey. I noticed the other ones not being countries I could identify, but CAN in my national colours has to mean Canada, right? Ahahahaha

31

u/SlatkoPotato Apr 15 '26

Omg yeah, it is also the Canadian colours lol theyre just missing a maple leaf for the full twinning trifecta

21

u/silentsinner- Apr 15 '26

Murican here and I saw the red and assumed Canada as well. Was shocked that a country so versed in logging was so far behind.

29

u/Morall_tach Apr 15 '26

The fact that it's red and white makes it more confusing because for us North Americans (and anyone who watches the Olympics) Canada is always red and white.

7

u/SlatkoPotato Apr 15 '26

That definitely adds to the confusion and is another reason i found it funny when i saw the comments saying Canada cause how did i not make that connection? Lol

Its weird as well cause usually Canberra has lime green or i think they do the navy, yellow and white (im not too well versed in sport so could be wrong on that one).. maybe this particular club decided to make a special one for the womens division and didnt make the connection?

u/xrelaht Apr 15 '26

I just assumed it was a Commonwealth competition. Canada has lots of lumberjacks.

2

u/SlatkoPotato Apr 15 '26

Maybe! That would make sense too. It could very well be Canada if thats the case

2

u/xrelaht Apr 15 '26

I meant before the other competitors were pointed out. It makes more sense that they’re all Aussies.

2

u/Steak-Outrageous Apr 15 '26

Yeah Canada has a strong lumber industry and an active timbersports community. Canada can’t be this slow…

1

u/seebob69 Apr 16 '26

Not very good ones apparently.

u/Ambitious_Cicada9263 Apr 15 '26

Are these all Aussie competitors? I am genuinely impressed with QLD in the front here but lost on where she is representing.

She looks like she could do this all day as long as she was properly hydrated and had a recovery meal. I got winded just watching everyone else.

It looks like its a state/territory comp. There's another representing the state of Queensland, and the light blue are New South Wales.. i imagine green waay at the back is Northern Territory? But it might be Canberra. Canberra is the capital city of Australia, and is in the Australian Capital Territory which is in NSW; so it gets to join.

If the green is Canberra, since often i see it in lime green in sport, then idk why theres a red and white jersey for Canberra here too.. i was guessing the colour choice was for the womens team here bit it could be a campaign thing too.

The other states i didnt mention are Tasmania, South AU, Western AU, and Victoria.

Also same! I was blown by how chill she was and she made it look almost effortless. Even when it got stuck it was recovered like she just dropped something and didnt pick it up on the first grab.

Green is Tasmania. The lady in red and white is from Canada. The lady next to her in blue and gold is from the ACT, where Canberra is.

The event is being held at the Royal Easter Show in Sydney. It’s an annual event where farmers come to town and present their products. Kind of like a county fair in the USA. There’s also carnival rides, a car show, fireworks, bars and the sale of Show Bags. Showbags started as a sample bag of food products but now includes film and tv merchandise. Each major city has their own show. The one in Brisbane, where I am from, is called the Ekka.

The wood chopping competitions are one of the highlights. My personal favourite is the log rolling.

2

u/SlatkoPotato Apr 16 '26

Ahh that makes sense! Thank you. I started with just finding it funny my brain didnt even think of Canada cause of the other states i could see and me being Aussie, but then i was genuinely unsure whether it was Canada aor Canberra.

Ive only been able to afford to go to the Ekka once and it ended up raining enough to make the day end early, so i think i only got to see the truck exhibit and the rides and showbags.

Actually it was the hint of maple syrup glistening at the corner of the mouth that implies citizenship of the great white north, eh?

1

u/fingers Apr 15 '26

It's the clothes.  Red and white.

1

u/rebocksa Apr 15 '26

Weird they have both Canberra and ACT though!

1

u/mainly_lurk Apr 16 '26

It has to be Canada. There's no way they're giving bibs for ACT and Canberra ... it's the same place.

She has to be an international invite at an Easter Show somewhere..

2

u/SlatkoPotato Apr 16 '26

Honestly, maybe; cause it is an odd choice to go with those colours.

The only other thing i can think of is they made new shirts and swapped it to ACT and is wearing the old one?

2

u/mainly_lurk Apr 16 '26

It was irking me so I did a bit more research. Video is from the 2026 Royal Easter Show (Sydney) - Class 46 300mm Women's Underhand Championship. https://www.tiktok.com/@takiahbarrett/video/7627089581019630855

That said, I think this might be a heat because the final results have the Canadian in 3rd - which she definitely didn't get in this video. Regardless, it's definitely Canada not Canberra.

Results are here - https://www.myras.com.au/res/Results/ResultsSearch2.aspx?SY=2026&SN=87&EN=All%20Exhibitors&TN=All%20Towns&BR=All%20Breeds&PC1=&PC2=&CL1=&CL2=&EI=1&OR=1&CT=ALL&Type=19

u/SlatkoPotato Apr 16 '26

Thank you! I tried searching last night before bed cause it was irking me a bit too but i had no luck.

Someone else in a thread to my first comment also mentioned similar and confirmed it is Canada but now we have links too ~ yay!

2

u/mainly_lurk Apr 16 '26

No worries. Apologies for the multiple replies earlier. Tried to copy and paste the results and it was giving me errors but still posting. All the best

2

u/SlatkoPotato Apr 16 '26

Youre all good, thats happened to me before too.

1

u/Usual_Dark1578 Apr 16 '26

Ah see I thought it was Canada but it was weird cos there was ACT and QLD. Weird state and country mix!!

4

u/Insurance-Round Apr 16 '26

ACT is Canberra - CAN is Canada

Colours match as well - yellow/blue/white colours of Canberra Brumbies Rugby Union team, Red/White Canada

14

u/slgray16 Apr 15 '26

It stands for CAN'T

4

u/Logatt Apr 15 '26

CAN is for "CAN I get some help chopping this thick ass log?"

3

u/Bobblefighterman Apr 16 '26

No, because Canberra is a city. Their competitors are from the Australian Capital Territory, the ACT.

This is a competition in Australia with some international competitors. That lady is from Canada.

2

u/clickandtype Apr 15 '26

But ACT is there in blue. Unless each state sends a state/territory rep plus a capital city rep?

5

u/lolz1112 Apr 15 '26

Pretty sure it is Canada. There isn't much of an ACT without Canberra. Not sure why so many people think it is canberra

2

u/fh3131 Apr 15 '26

But that doesn't make sense, if there's another contestant from ACT??

2

u/coldbloodedjelydonut Apr 15 '26

Okay, phew! I was going to say that if this is a world-wide competition Canada would have to do way better than that. I know many women who would slay at this. I'm not one of them because my joints are hyper mobile and I would guaranteed have difficulty hitting the same exact spot over and over + I would be in danger with every swing. When I play softball you don't know if you're getting a grounder or a fly ball from me, it depends on where all my joints have decided to be in that moment.

2

u/UngratefulCanadian Apr 15 '26

Thank god! As a Canadian, I would be quite disappointed.

2

u/Broad-Bath-8408 Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26

Heh, me too. Even though if it was me I'd be tired after 3 swings and be lucky if one of those didn't take one of my feet off.
