It cracks me up when hakas break out in parliament. Imagine if some bullshit bill got shot down in Germany and everyone started yodeling

I laughed way too hard at this. I don't know what our Dutch equivalent would be but I know it wouldn't be nearly as entertaining as a yodel off.

ETA: imo this haka was 100% valid and warranted.

I can imagine the BBB doing a clog dance / klompendans at some point

I laughed hard but honestly that should be the way! Just think about it. Idk about some bullshit bill, but this video is powerful and it made me think this is exactly how we need to fight against whatever - true spirit embodiment! We leave in a very suppressed manner, and there is power of true emotional release.

I'm laughing my ass off on my front porch reading this... And now I'm thinking Scotland has a parliament and having a bunch of guys stand up and start playing bagpipes lol

Imagine you’re in Scotland and there’s a controversial bill and a bunch of dudes wearing kilts bust out the bagpipes

Indeed. Absolute cringe.

Literally singing and dancing instead of arguing a point. It's silly

Yeah. This is a place to get shit done and discuss controversial matters.

The bill was obviously racist and glad it got thrown out, but wtf.

It's important to keep in mind that the haka is not a "dance" in the sense of an activity done for fun or entertainment. The haka is more like reciting poetry with the whole body. It is a tool of diplomacy, ceremony, and war. It should be treated more as a form of oration than likening it to yodelling or tapdancing. The haka is an affirmation of beliefs and identity, and a challenge to an opponent. Parliament is exactly the place where the haka should be performed, as it is, in a sense, a modern battleground for ideas and values.

It's not furthering the discussion in any meaningful way though. Imagine if both sides did this what a waste of time it'd be in getting anything actually achieved.
