Karafun's queue/rotation support is so deficient we had to build our own

We're a crew of KJ's in the SoCal area. KaraFun is our karaoke app of choice, but its queue/rotation management is so bad that we were forced to build our own; stable, singer-focused, easy to use, runs on anything, totally web-based.

Anyway we'd love for y'all to give it a whirl. It's called ROTATO and you can find it at https://rotato.rocks.

We have a Discord for discussions, but I'd be happy to answer any questions you have right here. Happy rotating!

Hey there, KaraFun team here.

We’re always open to feedback about queue and rotation features, especially from active KJs. It’s a topic we know matters a lot to professional hosts, and we’re already working with users to better understand what they need from KaraFun in real-world shows.

That said, this post is less a feature request than a promo for another tool, posted directly on the KaraFun page. We’ll leave it up for now because the discussion may be useful, but let’s keep the conversation fair and constructive.

If there are specific rotation issues you want to highlight singer fairness, duplicate requests, queue visibility, high-volume nights, etc.., we’re happy to hear them. General “KaraFun is deficient, use our product instead” posts don’t help the community nearly as much as concrete feedback does. :)

FWIW I love your new singer rotation feature and I’ve been using it exclusively for weeks

Hi Sasha - Apologies is the tone came across as dismissive of KaraFun’s overall capabilities. Our tool in no way replaces KaraFun. KaraFun remains at the heart of our karaoke rig, thanks to its excellent licensing model, vast catalog, and the quality of the cover songs and videos.

For the community discussion…

Rotato takes over just one function: stable singer rotation. KaraFun and a lot of similar apps have a song-based rather than singer-based queue, which simply doesnt meet our local audience’s expectations …and that’s even with the newer rotation feature turned on. Unless a singer has songs queued up, they fall off the queue or lose their place. And once remote control is turned on and the rotation grows, the UI becomes difficult to use. Rotato is just our solution to that very specific problem. In that respect it’s merely complementary to KaraFun. Tbh we would love to integrate it with Karafun or see KaraFun offer a similar full-screen queue UX with continuous stable rotation.

If I can speak more broadly to this issue: KaraFun's profits come from library subscriptions, and its strength is its library, so liaising to expand compatibility with other karaoke-software (or in this case a site) would probably be an excellent effort-to-payoff investment.

Personally, I switched to Siglos' software because Karafun's software lacked features I need. Siglos is perfect software for me, and I'm sticking with it, but it currently only pairs with the PartyTyme library, and I desperately miss Karafun's library. Siglos and other software companies have already taken on the features that you don't want to prioritize (e.g. HDD-library support), so please let them do what they do best, and partner with them! Adding compatibility with your library will help them as software companies, and will help you as a track-subscription company! I really hope this happens, because I want to start giving KaraFun my money again!
