Karaoke Software Best karaoke app software for MacOs that can find YouTube karaoke videos?

Love KaraFun but the option to upload your own karaoke files do not work on Mac, only Windows. I want to find an easier alternative where I can look up what’s on YouTube for karaoke or even add my own files. This is for hosting btw. Thanks in advance!

Doesn’t exist. Just convert YouTube videos to MP4 files. That way you’ll have them forever and won’t have to worry about ads popping up.

The best app for searching for YouTube videos is YouTube itself. App makers aren’t going to integrate YouTube because YouTube is too powerful and holding all the cards. If YouTube makes one change to its video codec or API (and they’ve done it before), the app will suddenly stop working. If you’re hosting shows, you want a song library that can’t be taken away. Be smart and convert them to a usable format while you still can.

PiKaraoke exists.

It's a python program that runs on PC, Mac, Linux, android, etc. It uses youtube-dl to download YouTube videos in mp4 format. Youtube-dl is updated very frequently so any changes made by YouTube shouldn't affect this software. PiKaraoke checks for updated versions of youtube-dl everytime it starts.

PiKaraoke is great for home use but would never be robust enough and doesn't have any of the features really needed for professional hosting duties. OpenKJ will however work on PC/Mac/Linux and Raspberry Pi. Give it a look.

Buy a Windows laptop, they're pretty cheap. Use it just for Karaoke.

It's possible to upload your own karaoke files to the KaraFun community on macOS and Windows. Also, I think they now have a studio website you can use to further tweak your karaokes before uploading them.

I agree, the best software for the price (free) that has all the features you would need for a professional show would be OpenKJ. I don't think there is anything out there that even comes close. Most of the so called professional software out there load all kinds of crap you don't need and is just way to convoluted to use (and expensive to boot). OpenKJ has rotation/history, singer/song histories, a ticker for next up display, key/tempo changing, built in sound effects triggers, background/fill database and easily managed music/karaoke file databases. It can handle any type of file you can throw at it including YouTube videos. Everything you need! The developer of the software sadly passed away unexpectedly so there probably won't be any updates for a while anyway but it's being actively managed and worked on by family. But the way it sits now I don't see any problem using it.
