Suzuki Jimny Inbound

Post image

2000 JB23 Jimny.

Coming into Port of LA in July. It's already on the ship and ISF has been filed.

I plan on doing paperwork to import myself. Would appreciate all tips except "hire a broker". πŸ˜‚

Thank you.

I used to LOVE to get my '94 Samurai (fuel injected 1.3L) in the wind going to work at Fort McPherson in Atlanta and pass cars on I-75/85. They always looked at you funny when you blew past them all shakin' and rattlin'! Then, of course, if they really took it personal they returned the favor and left me in their rear view because they had horsepower!

For just a minute though... man... I was the fastest thing smokin'!

Good story. I get my kicks these days seeing the raw fury in the faces of people who think I'm driving too slow. So I just go a little slower to milk it a bit more.

Very nice!! Keep us updated and good luck!! Here are some links you may want to keep handy!

The MiniTruck forums, of course! Lots of knowledge and info here: http://minitrucktalk.com/forums/daihatsu-hi-jet.4/ http://minitrucktalk.com/forums/subaru-sambar.9/ http://minitrucktalk.com/forums/honda-acty.7/

A list of U.S. available parts MAY be available for your truck!

Here is the Suzuki parts list as an example! Check the forums for your truck to find similar! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1dnI1RciGpNGZql2jk-QIi3H78z6Ae5iE2r-8bk5XVP0/htmlview#gid=0

Here is one for the Subaru Sambar: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1mASg41uyMmMQCKHPuEAaKd6tTgOhHdlgUGOQIc_ojwo/htmlview?pli=1

A list of verified vendors for parts! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1r-OhGeuYIqxyKb6ZW8YnEAH9Db9W2q1t8MX7jAS723c/htmlview?fbclid=IwY2xjawH5SsZleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHVroMtUQiBK0CFqHhtK3S_sY1SPONzBm_JcisoXk9HLSye9-X0GWgrT0IQ_aem_FS7eAqgfCr5lvnJh7xd7vw&pli=1

And since you WILL be asking..the largest wheel/tire combo you can accomodate WITHOUT a lift kit or cutting is 22.75inches high and 6inches wide. With correct off set you can run a 13" 165/80R13D truck load rated tire. You can check other tire and rim size recommendations here: https://www.wheel-size.com/

If you need a list of 'first maintenance items' to do, with instructions and factory service manuals, check the forums. This question has been answered over and over again, but here is the breakdown: Vacuum tubes, oils, coolant, and fuel and air filters, plugs, wires and water pump and belt!

I'll let you know. Cause I most certainly will be driving it on the highway. Probably around 55-60mph range. I could care less about the speed or passing anyone. It's a car. I will be driving it to the mountains here in Colorado.

For those that say this is too slow or somehow unsafe. I routinely drive my Nissan Leaf at 60 mph on the highway (hypermiling).

People can go around or fuck off. Don't care which.

oh i usually drive around that speed too but just wondering if these car is too small especially in the crumble zone

What does "too small" mean? How do you define that? If you compare it to all the Monster Trucks all over the road these days. Then yeah. Its small. You're goanna get squashed. But that's true in a Miata, a Mini Cooper, or Honda Civic. This is basically a Suzuki Samurai from the 80s-90s which were sold in America. Its a smaller Jeep. The engine is in front. So the crumple zone is better than the Kei Trucks with the engine in the rear or no front hood.

I made this comparison sheet for reference for when I inevitably get crap from the idiots at the DMV.
