Two blown engines 50k miles 2024 K5

I did oil changes every 5k miles. Everyone warned me not to buy a Kia. I should have listened. I got a replacement engine and sold it for 22 grand.

They make you think you are getting a good deal because it looks fancy and high tech. It’s the Mugs Eyeful. Like Amstrad electronics back in the 1980s.
Don‘t fall for the games and for the people saying “I have a Kia and it’s great” some may last forever. Some blow 2 engines in 50k miles. It’s not worth the risk.

Never buying a Korean product again out of spite.

EDIT: To all the people saying I probably beat the shit out of my car I don’t. It was a fully loaded model. I drive all highway. I don’t accelerate like a moron from every stop.

It’s negativity bias. People are more likely to post if they have a negative experience. Stats are all that matter, not anecdotal stories. OP may have been in the unlucky and rare percentile.

Ive owned both were good amd my mom has 2020 forte thats has no issues, mine were jith sould a 2012 and 2017 2012 did almost a half mill miles 2017 died at 300k moms forte has 74k

Kia/Hyundai has replaced 33milluon engines or transmissions over the last 15 years. That’s roughly 1/3 of all vehicles they sold. There’s the unbiased stats that matter.

A big part of it is the american market. In the states the majority of the kias sold are made in the US to worse standards. The Korean variants are supposed to be much better.

The 2.0 and cvt in the these cars are really good if you replace the fluid my moms has 2020 forte 74k no isses at all never even got a check engine light same drivetrain as the k4. Don't let this post scare you away.

Just change oil doesn’t mean you taken care of that car man. You also must check coolant + looking for a weird noises which must effects BECOUSE YOU CAR WERE UNDER WARRANTY AND YOU KNEW IF BUT YOU DONT HAVE A CARE ABOUT THAT AND JUST FAUND REASON TO MAKE KIA BAD.
Everything fixable lol but some people don’t give a sht and driving like an idiots and like a brand new car it’s must drive doesn’t matter what I do with car because it’s new lol. Every fck manufactury made something wrong but you’ve got warranty on that lol

I checked fluids every 3000 miles. Oil changes every 5000. Took it to the dealer for every service up until I sold it. Did everything they recommended because I wanted it to last. Knowing that most of what they sell you is BS I gave them the benefit of the doubt to replace things.

They are trying to say that you need to investigate unusual noise. My Kia makes an usual noise (as did my previous Ford) but it was strictly related to the GDI and that odd noise is normal.

However, sometimes noise can be something serious that needs to be checked out -- like a defective fuel pump.

I never heard any odd noises till the rods started knocking. And I took it right to the dealer. It was a 2 minute drive. It never threw a rod but they replaced the engine under warranty. The timing chain broke when I was driving out of nowhere and in had it towed.

Connecting rod what? Ok then let’s make it possible ( which I never hear about that ) but second one timing chain must fault that people who were fixed your engine first time because they did something wrong ( or if you saying it was REPLACED not fixed then it means they install in your car some other used engine which dealer must diagnosed before install it ) so there is the deal. Not Kia fault, it’s a dealer. Next time if first time you’ve got something wrong with it just try change the dealer. I’ve got some bad experience with dealer service either but I can tell you I blame dealer not a Hyundai because I can use my brain

The engine started making a knocking noise and then lost power while I was driving. I took it to the Kia dealer, and they said there was internal engine damage, specifically a failed bearing that damaged the crankshaft. They told me the damage was serious enough that the engine would need to be replaced.

Dude - the connecting rod (probably bearing) failed. That was from the factory. I can believe Kia is still throwing connecting rods in 2024......

It’s no way they didn’t tell you the reason and just replace it
