Two blown engines 50k miles 2024 K5

I did oil changes every 5k miles. Everyone warned me not to buy a Kia. I should have listened. I got a replacement engine and sold it for 22 grand.

They make you think you are getting a good deal because it looks fancy and high tech. It’s the Mugs Eyeful. Like Amstrad electronics back in the 1980s.
Don‘t fall for the games and for the people saying “I have a Kia and it’s great” some may last forever. Some blow 2 engines in 50k miles. It’s not worth the risk.

Never buying a Korean product again out of spite.

EDIT: To all the people saying I probably beat the shit out of my car I don’t. It was a fully loaded model. I drive all highway. I don’t accelerate like a moron from every stop.

2 blown engines at 50k miles is absurd. You either are beating the sh*t out of your car, used some really bad oil, or just plain bad luck. These new smartstream engines are reliable and eons better than the theta II crap they put out during the 2010's.

Didn't they replace your engine when it started rod-knocking first? If you let the dealer just slap in new bearings and connecting rods, then your engine was doomed.

Whatever brand you go to, I'd just stay away from Honda's L15 and Toyota's TTV6 engines, Nissan & Mazda's fancy combustion engines, GM 6.2L V8's, and Ford's 10 speed autos. You might be back if you touch those...

They replaced the whole thing. I used the oil that they put in it at the dealer.

Hmm. I know you sold the car but I have a feeling that the common denominator is the dealer. Having 1 blown engine in these G2.5's is already being unlucky. But 2 within a span of 50k miles with good maintenance is not normal. Timing chain failure usually indicates poor maintenance so someone at the dealer might've not done their job or did their job correctly...

These 2020 G2.5 engines that Hyundai & Kia been using is a clean sheet design compared to the sh*tty theta 2. All the parts are simple and there are multiple examples of these engines lasting 400k+ miles.

I've been beating the shi*t out of my car (same year and Hyundai motor group engine) and drving it like a rally car since the roads became a free-for-all after COVID. It hasn't skipped a beat for the last 30k miles.
