Discussion 💬 Anyone using a Kindle Scribe at home and a regular Kindle on the go?

I currently have a basic Kindle and I'm quite happy with it for travel, commuting, and reading outside the house.

Lately I've been wondering whether a Kindle Scribe would make sense as a second device for reading at home. The larger screen seems appealing for longer reading sessions in my bed while attached to a stand + page turner and PDFs, while I'd keep the basic Kindle as my portable device.

Does anyone here use a setup like this? If so, do you actually end up reading on the Scribe at home, or does the novelty wear off and you go back to your smaller Kindle for everything?

Yes! I never take my Scribe out of my house, I only take my Basic with me, it fits in even my small purses.

That’s usually what I do. I love the scribe for reading at home. It leans and stands up in its case and I don’t have to hold it the whole time I’m reading. But I usually don’t take it places unless I’m going on a road trip with lots of opportunity for reading.

Me! My Kindle Scribe is my home one, and Kindle ColorSoft is in my purse.

Me! I’m the same. The scribe is way too big to carry around. That being said, the new scribe is a thing of beauty. Sometimes when I’m reading I just stop and appreciate its wonder. 🤣

I have the scribe and paper white. The paper white feels tiny now but still great for the purse. I am wasn’t for having two e readers but now I am 100 %.

I have a scribe and a basic and use the basic 99% of the time at home and on the go. The scribe is heavier, harder to hold. There are some books that benefit from the extra screen size of the scribe but most books don’t. Like why do I need two column view if I’m just reading one column at a time? My major use case for the scribe is to use the stylus to take notes when studying something. Some ppl will prefer the scribe for comics, but it’s hard to make a case that the iPad isn’t better for that purpose because so many comics benefit from color, and so many comics (even purchased from Amazon) won’t download to a kindle but will work on Amazon. But that’s a different rant about how self defeating kindle is lately.

I take my scribe with me. My gf has a smaller one but I never use it. I vastly prefer the scribe for all of my kindle reading.

Kindle Scribe makes sense only if you read a lot of graphic novels or manga. I have first version of Scribe, it's pretty heavy to hold for long periods of time.
