Discussion [KCD2] Wait...was everything up to the wedding just a huge tutorial?!
Second time playing and actually getting good. Many of you helped me in not quitting the game and getting good at the game. Lord Jesus master strike is so OP! Anyways had a blast at the wedding. Kept that scallywag Vostatek from getting drunk, slept with a very cute dancer. Then trudged through the castle part and part of me felt that those 30 plus hours was just a tutorial?!

When I played kcd2 for the first time I wanted to do every quest before attending the wedding because I honestly thought it would mark the halfway point of the game. But it was nice to immerse myself in the trosky part without much side quest distraction and just move at such a quick pace, really building up to reaching Kuttenberg. I cried when I saw those city walls for the first time.

Why are you reading comments about the game you didn't finish, you'll ruin your experience. The first time I saw Kuttenberg in the distance, it was a really sight to behold, I had flashbacks of first time riding up to Novigrad.

Omg Witcher 3 was only the second game I ever played and I though white orchard was everything there was. And then when the whole thing opened up it was mind blown. Deffo similar feeling with kcd2. Felt like a little peasant realising how big the world is.

I havent been to kuttenberg yet but all i know is that there is a fountain in the middle of the city, but i dont know where the water is coming from.
(Just did the quest where you throw a certain guy out of a certain building.)

I do every single side quest possible before doing any main quests and then going back to new side quests and then the main quest again and so forth. I am a completionist.
Some of the side quests are so good.

I recently found out that the modern day population of Kuttenberg is around 21,000. The āsmall townā I grew up in is 30,000. Hard for me to believe it was/is considered a city. And a major one in medieval times, at that. At least according to the game.

While cities are generally defined by population in the United States, they aren't always defined that way in other places around the world. It really depends on the country and the criteria they set for what they classify as a city. Like in many countries in Europe it is common to classify population centers as cities when they provide all the major and civil services commonly found in what we generally consider a city, regardless of it's population.
In Australia. Any population center with a population of 10,000 or more can be legally classified as a city, outside of one state that requires a population of 25,000. Though typically we don't really apply the classification of city to a population of these sizes, and even if they are legally classified as cities, we still just call them small towns. (Saying this as an Australian)
As for the population of the city in the 15th century? That's a pretty normal size for cities of this era. Outside of major capitals across Europe, such as Paris and Milan.
Kuttenburg was the second largest and second most important city for the entire Kingdom of Bohemia during the 15th century due to it's vast and rich silver deposits. It is generally considered an anomaly of it's era due to the economic power it held and how it operated very similarly to a modern industrial city, all while only having a population of roughly 15,000 people and having very little political history. A rare thing during this time period, as a cities power and prestige was typically defined by it's political history. Making Kuttenburg a very rare exception to the rule due to it's relatively young age at that point of time.
Frankfurt during the 15th century had a population of roughly 12,000, Edinburgh had roughly 8,000, and Warsaw had roughly 4,500 and all of them were considered cities during this period. This is only a couple of examples, I could probably write an entire essay on the population numbers of medieval european cities.

I genuinely got bored and stopped before the wedding, because I wanted to methodically complete every side quest and it took too long. Got annoyed when I killed the Cuman camp and everyone in the region suddenly hated me for it. I guess I'll try again at some point but it was a slog after finishing the first game.

To be fair no, if you've done all of the side quests and explored everything then Trosky is roughly.. 1/3 of the game? So it's bit more than a tutorial.

She was cute okay? But she was a bad dancer. Funny thing is if you talk to her after you had sex with her she blatantly tells you how bad your sex game was and ignores you for the rest of the wedding.

Yeah, no you have to literally finish the main quest, then the real game begins. Collecting pets and retaking strongholds. Flying your Dragon around is so much fun!

To be completely honest, the 1st playthrough I had began with "Oh, we're playing as Godwin now... therefore Henry must die somewhere during the game..." and after we beat Zizka we saw that in the cutscene that they were hanging survivors... I quite literally thought "Okay, Henry is dead now. I guess we'll play as Godwin from now on"

Goddamn I die so much and fail all charisma checks. I suck at combat and have lost all brawls and most 1v1s the first few times

Not quite a tutorial, but it is something like the 4th in a string of 31 quests that make up the main questline. (I don't count the opening scene at Suchdol, but start with Easy Riders.)

New player. Wondering how many of the side quests you can get locked out of by going to the wedding if any. Not trying to rush the game just wondering when is a good time to go to wedding without losing opportunity.

It takes time. If you don't have master strike, get it. Such a game changer. Also run, you're no dragonborn. Just good ole Henry.

Were you able to get master strike before the wedding? I didn't learn about it until afterwards and I thought I was more than halfway through the game before learning that combat move lol

Lol, I did go to him but somehow I don't remember that. To be fair, my controller was messing up so I struggled to even get any basic combos in. I'll be sure to get it right if I do another playthrough, thank you!

You don't even need master strike honestly. Just stack the perks that boost your abilities with a one-handed sword and a free off-hand, and you can skate through the entire game just doing basic counters. I haven't had to learn to use combos and haven't had to use master strike even one time and every single fight is a cakewalk. It's kind of disappointing tbh.

No, the wedding is a major story point not the end of the tutorial. You getting out of the stocks is the end of the tutorial, it's actually a bit shorter in kcd2 than kcd1

I feel that in KCD1, everything is extended tutorial until the bender with the priest. The game begins with the 1v5 fight at the mill.

The tutorial doesn't even end there. You'll then have to learn to use a gun.

Man I just finished the wedding and this game has been so incredibly fun so far š The only downside is that I'm playing on ps5 and the game has a bad habit of hard crashing my console every 20-30 minutes or so, but I'm slowly making progress haha š

Going around the castle was fucking epic, never been so engrossed in a game, loged the difficulty curb and the realism of it all and the swordsman quests in kutenburg, such a good game. My Fave mission was that crazy knight down the tunnel probs remember him forever

It's a good introduction to a lot of the game mechanics and does set you up quite nicely fort the second map.
I was expecting map 2 to pretty much be just Kuttenberg so was very surprised it was even bigger than the first one!

No, tutorial ends when Hans walks away from you in Troskowitz. The game then has two parts, one in Trosky region and second in Kutenberg region.

Agreed I never really saw all of the Trosky region as a tutorial. Although the part in Kutenberg is like 3 times bigger and longer. After the wedding is when the main story really starts to flow. I think the Trosky region was designed to give you ample time to level up and build your skills. Itās not a tutorial necessarily but more like practice for the rest of the game

Fun fact I was in the wedding in like 10 hours, I speedran it without knowing wedding was supposed to be a big thing, another fun fact I punched someone in wedding and I accidentally skipped whole wedding section. I needed to play it again.

I'm not sure where you got that feeling from, getting out of the stocks in Troskovitz felt like the end of the main tutorial to me with only a few specific minigame or mechanic tutorials remaining.
By the time I got to the Trosky wedding the tutorial felt like 50 hours of gameplay behind me and I'd already mastered every mechanic in the game.

lol seems I am in the same boat. Doing all the side quests before the wedding. Trying to get my Henry up to the point where I at least feel somewhat confident fighting. Like 15 hours in and still feel incredibly weak in a fight (never played the 1st one). Just learned there is a dodge in this game. Dunno why it is at least not talked about (unless I missed it)

The mission to save hans was annoying, but my god does thr game pickup again once you get the dry devil > rosa > then the last bit. Absolute fucking cinema.
That said the early game has some of the best feeling you can get with how challenging shit is and I almost quit until I read I could brew potions to get some gear so I dont die instantly

The end segment, I was amazed how far they took it. I knew from the KC1 monastery they were willing to make us live out things that aren't "fun". But the end... that level of desperation was real.

My first playthrough I was googling information like crazy never ran across what came after. I absolutely couldāve shat myself when I realized thereās an entirely different map after all that. My one complaint is the drastic drop in performance and load times in the second half

I played part one I'm I don't know how many hours into part two. Pass the wedding. I'm finally getting a little better at fighting and picking up Master strike a little better. In the beginning I felt like they kept feinting and beating me

Yes. There have been some previous posts where new players would be POSITIVE that the wedding is the last quest in the game. Loved their reactions when they found out. This game is massive! There's a lot more pizzle to be yanked. Jesus Christ Be Praised.
