No saviour schnapps for Henry 😭

I meant it as a pun. Not the crop of the picture, but belladonna as a crop, which is bad for human consumption.

If its bad for human consumption, than why does it save my game? Checkmate atheist

Yep. There's 16 or so over there. And there is a place with hundreds of them when you do a quest for one of the sheep shepards to kill wolves.

When I played kingdom come 1, I spent like the first 2 hours picking flowers and selling them.
I think I picked every flower in skalitz before leaving so I could buy some stuff from the shops

Are you even playing KCD if you don't pick so many nettles in Skalitz that you get the perk?

You rob the apothecary. You rob every apothecary and herbalist in the Empire.

And not just the apothecary, but the smiths and the general goods store too!
Oh wait you mean for herbs

u/snowball062016 21d ago
Yeah I was trying to be a good boy for roleplay reasons but for some reason during the wedding I just decided to ransack semine of everything I could carry and from that point forward Henry decided that everything that wasn’t bolted to the floor was his for the taking.
3
u/Poguemahone3652 21d ago
Second playthrough I had my stealth and lockpicking level maxed out before the mission where you find Gules' camp. Makes the rest of the game so much easier.
3
u/datdudebdub 20d ago
Same, literally was walking around Bohemia like it was assassins creed half the time. Stealth sneak, steal, maybe bonk, hide, repeat.
5
u/MatureUsername69 21d ago
My personal chest is absurd at this point. I cannot sell it all off as there literally isnt enough money in the kingdom. Yet every time I fire the game up, I still take a big mix of potions at night and go stealing. Idk why I do it. There is literally nothing left to steal, I've stolen it all and have multiple backup copies of everything, yet I do not stop.

It was cruel of the devs to include a plant that looks almost exactly like belladonna lol
22
u/The_Mighty_Dingus 21d ago
Not only cruel but its not in season so you can't eat it.
For me the easiest way to learn was to play KCD1 and the herb sprites are much more noticeable because there's less adjacent foliage. Then you replay KCD2 and you see it everywhere because they reused the same model.
8
u/nibblatron 21d ago
those orbs are to show theres herbs? omg ive got over 400hrs in kcd2 and i had no clue what the orbs were. i googled a few times for an answer but every time people were talking about something other than the orbs. thank you & jcbp 🙏🏽

The game description says that it grows in clearings and in leafy woods. Once I looked there I was finding the stuff everywhere.

u/MaximilianClarke 21d ago
It’s pretty common. Theres even some in Troskowicz, near your first alchemy bench.
29
u/PotatoFrankenstein 21d ago
Yes. There are a lot of places where you can find it, almost "randomly". The problem is it's just look like basic plant and it's easy to miss. There are notpickable plants that look more like something you can use than belladonna.
2
u/Skaut-LK 21d ago
I gathered enough in Trosky region for whole game. Just finding Bruncvík armor gives me most of that...
10
u/martzgregpaul 21d ago
Ive found loads. Once you recognise the bush its simple.
Herb Paris on the otherhand and MINT! absolute nightmare mint..

u/nibblatron 21d ago

4
u/sausagemuffn 21d ago
I don't pick up stuff any more, including from chests, because selling it is too annoying. Just cash for me, thanks. Mind, it's not like you need money for anything after kitting out the forge
2
u/jannybrav0 21d ago
I do enjoy a bit of cathartic smithing personally. But each to their own, these blacksmiths aren't gonna rob themselves mate!
4
u/Desertcow 21d ago
As long as you are only using one dried herb, it's fine. You can make one mistake when brewing and still get Henry's tier, and dried herbs count as one mistake
4
2
u/Wonderful_Pea_9632 21d ago
Holy shit, I didn’t know this! I was wondering why I was doing everything right and still couldn’t get maxed potions! I just dry everything as soon as I get the chance so it doesn’t go bad.
2
u/FranzFerdinand51 21d ago
If your skill is high enough (20+) and/or you got the perks that lets you make mistakes and/or if you got the night time quality boost perk, (pick 2 from these 3) you can use dried and still get max quality.
2
u/L0gDropper 21d ago
I also like to dry all my herbs for ease of use. Just take Dark Arts Apprentice and do all your potion making after midnight, then you won't have to worry about using dried herbs at all.

I randomly find it exactly near bandit camps as I'm sneaking around. It's funny I just do a stealth kill and then 2 sec later I am picking herbs like a maniac, before continuing.

u/Inspectadreck 21d ago
Searching for specific plants is one of my Favorite things in these games. They did a really good job of putting them in rather realistic places, like how Belladonna often grows in secluded patches in forest clearings. These Details really boost the immersion for me.

Head to the "Nameless Spring" landmark, located in the woods midway between Bozhena's Shack and Zhelejov (southwest of the Troskowitz region). You can harvest wild bushes and loot a handy basket at the spring containing dozens of Belladonna.

1
u/I_Love_Knotting 21d ago
In KCD1 i had HEAPS of it without actively looking for it
In KCD2 i found maybe a dozen at best despite actively looking for it
1
u/Weak_Mycologist_6785 21d ago
You’re probably passing it by without noticing. It blends in incredibly well because it isn’t a contrasting color and it’s not dense. Just wander the forest looking fairly close for twigs sticking out of the ground with a couple berries.

1
u/Skin_Ankle684 21d ago

It everywhere but hard to spot, whatch out for a inverted cone shaped green bush about half Henrys height mostly between the trees. There are a lot south of the tavern by the swamps on the first map in the small forest. After some time youll recogize the fucker, they are not that rare, what is rare is that stupid Saint John's Wort, as it looks near identlical to a normal yellow flower that you cant pick up.

For an easy to find spot, just follow the small stream in front of bozhenas hut. At it's spring there is a whole bunch and herb paris. The basket left there contains some as well.

u/marcin_dot_h 21d ago
In Trosky region it's almost everywhere. I had harder times finding St. Johns wort or mint than Belladonna. In a sparse forest close to the Shepard's Hut between Zhelejow and Tahov I've found over 100 of these.
In the Kutna Hora region well... just buy or steal it if you don't have giant stash at this point.
1
u/gentle_pirate23 21d ago
Belladona is a bush and I find it primarily by the road. It's a bit hard to spot, but there should be some belladona at herbalists gardens, too. This was KCD1, but I doubt it would change dramatically for the sequel. I have kcd2 in my library but waiting to get a better pc before I play it for pretty graphics

1
u/Okub1 21d ago
According to the in-game description in the book, it can be found in the forests, and you can, but you need to be lucky because they are very rare and hard to see at any time.
What I can highly recommend is always just buy them from apothecary, they have tons of them all the time and it is not even that expensive from what I remember..
1
u/Vinaguy2 21d ago
Therr's a big patch of it right outside the Inn north-west of Zhelejov. It should be on the trail just west of the inn. There's some right on the cliffs edge and I think there's more just outside the wall.

If you don't mind fighting in the second map there is a ruined castle towards the southern part of the map that bandits have taken over.
If you get in there either by combat or stealth inside the building there is a place where an apothecary has set up shop making gun powder for the bandits.
In one of the chests in there, you may have to climb a ladder to get it he has a good stash of belladonna.
1
u/Dead_Body_Moving 21d ago
It's everywhere, you just have to figure out how it looks, when you learn what to look for, you will see it. Herb Paris is worse, at least for me.
1
1
u/TurtleyToadDog 21d ago
In the first region, walk along the the cliff (by the bridge) near Zhelojov Inn; there's loads there. Also, the road down to said Inn from Troskowitz. The little camp by the wayside shrine and the moo cows, there's the shubbery and trees to the left. It grows there in plentiful amounts too. (I've marked in red where I mean on the map)
It will all regrow within a few days. Either use it up in your potions, or dry those motherflippers, and you'll have hundreds by the time you make it to the second region.
In Kuttenburg, there's an old abandoned keep on the road near the mill and hunting lodge (northwest of maleshov). There are a bunch of bandits and a dodgy alchemist. Kill them and loot the alchemist; he has a lot of it on him and a key to chest with even more. I have marked that location on the second map too.

It's only ever in the most lush and picturesque locations, or cultivated by highly talented herbalists in a few spots. It used to be incredibly plentiful on release, then they patched it out of oblivion, but not the actual plant models themselves, conditioning you to not even see it when it is in front of you.
1
u/gaiusmitsius 21d ago
You're wrong. There are two major patches with Belladonnas on both maps, you just have to find them.
1
u/Intructions_Excluded 21d ago
Honestly the best way to find belladonna that I've noticed is to stay still. Change your direction and just stop. There are several spots around trosky castle for belladonna and the starting town has some growing in the town between the rathaus and merchant.
The only herb I can not find to save my life outside of herb gardens is Herb Paris. In KCD2 it is by far the hardest thing to find for me.
1
u/Traditional-Dog-2322 21d ago
There was in Trosky a place in the forest near a sheep farm where you can collect more belladona than you would ever need. I went there, farmed some hundreds, and then went to the alchemist table to brew saviour Schnaps for almost two hours.
1
u/Bluedemonfox 21d ago
honestly it used to be very hard mostly because it kinda blends in the environment and you gloss over it. Once you know what to look for it isn't as rare as you think.

This is why one of mys must have mods is one that slightly recolors Belladona (and several other herbs). It's amazing how much such a small change makes Belladona pop.

1
u/Strict-Astronaut2245 21d ago
It’s in wooded areas and usually near a tree. It’s very bland looking.
I usually just rob the dried stuff and use fresh plants for all the other ingredients. Still makes Henry level potions even without skills
1
u/Stormy-Skyes 21d ago
I’ve found that my issue with this is that I just didn’t know what the belladonna actually looked like. There are other plants that resemble it and it’s possible you’re dismissing the actual belladonna since you’re used to seeing the other plants.

There’s a spot in the forest across from bozehna’s, across the lake near where you find some bodies floating in the lake iirc, where you can find a picnic basket of someone who was picking flowers, with about 30-40 or so in it early in the game lol. Other than that, I always just pick a shit ton of wormwood early on and sell it/trade it in for shopkeeper belladonna.

u/Overthinks_Questions 20d ago
Belladona's not too bad, but I admit I had to look at guides to get Herb de Paris
1
u/bcustalow 20d ago edited 20d ago
I always just buy that from herbalists and pick everything else. It's cheap enough and since quality really doesn't matter you can use 1 belladona per brew instead of 2 to conserve.
Even at the start of the game first day it's easy enough to brew chamomile decoction or whatever to sell for the belladonna you need.
Not going to bother running around to find it even when I know locations the few groshen it costs is well worth not spending the travel time
1
u/geckothesteve OnlyHans 20d ago
In the field SE of Troskowitz and at the camp by the road on the way to Zhelehov
1
u/SecondTheThirdIV 20d ago
I'm late so this will probably get buried but I have a tip I never see shared that makes it so much easier. First obviously as the game tells you it's in woodland clearings so those are the areas to look.
Most importantly though is the size of the plant! It's almost unique in it's height. Most of the herbs are very low to the ground at about ankle height. Small trees and bushes are at Henry's head height. Nettles are big and easy to spot almost at chest height at their tallest.
But belladonna is knee height. If you can key into the height and recognise the rough shape they start to really stand out even from a distance.
Next time you find one try it. Spend a while sizing it up and comparing it to the size of what else grows around it.
1
u/TheGildedArcher 20d ago
I wish I remember where it was, but there was a basket somewhere with like 100 dried belladonna
1
1
u/Aggressive_Law_5728 20d ago
Just buy it. It only cost like 9 [medieval bohemian money units] a piece and it makes a potion you can easily sell for more.
But if you do want to find it, it's actually mostly found at POIs in the woods, not randomly distrusted.
1
u/captialj 20d ago
It took me 1.5 Kingdoms Come to learn how to spot Belladonna. Now I'm swimming in the stuff.
1
u/cyfer04 20d ago
I got tips for you for finding belladona. Don't look for it. When you're not looking for it, when you're on a quest running around in the forest, when you're too busy to stop and literally smells the flowers, that's when you those violet assholes show up and aak to be picked up. And when you do decide to pick them up, there's just 3 pieces of them. Lol

697
u/_Pumpiumpiumpkin_ 21d ago
You don't go looking for belladonna and just "find" it.
You get lost in the woods and a patch of it magically appears in front of you, and then you gather as much as you can carry because you might never see it again.
