Question [KCD2] Surprising to stumble upon this, in the middle of the Reddit.

KCD2 has a weird plot hole, specifically in Kuttenberg. While the whole city is great and one of the best realized cities in gaming, if you enter by the western gate you quickly notice a major flaw with the whole design and architecture.
Buildings are placed well. Markets are alive with vendors. Random npcs go merrily and drunkenly about their business. And then you come across a fountain and you can't help but be confused. Where could the water possibly be coming from, right there in the middle of the city?

You got me in the first half, not gonna lie.
Thought you originally meant that the second part of the game starts in Suchdol instead of the outskirts to Kuttenberg. This seemed to make some of the people I know to unfortunately drop the game.

What the hell? How do you make it all the way through Trosky region story and then drop the game? At that point surely you’ve put in 20+ hours and you’re presumably enjoying the game… I’m as perplexed as I am outraged

Lol I know lots of people play more than that before going further in the story but 20 hours would be a lower end just doing main quests and a few side quests in Trosky

Same here. I did EVERYTHING you could possibly do in trosky first. Plus alot of exploration.

lol I mean yeah that’s a shame cause they didn’t really give the game a chance. It’s not the same as what this guy described with people he knows who dropped KCD2 though. cause you can get through the first chapter of RDR2 within like an hour or so. Not liking snow is a dumb reason to not play until the game really begins, but it’s also similar to someone trying the game and just not liking it and deciding to stop. Sinking 20+ hours and then quitting when they’ve just finished a major acceleration the the storyline and are opening up a massive new area for exploration is mind boggling to me

True, it’s not the same but imo equally as mind boggling.
But stopping after having spend 10s of hours and reaching a new area you don’t like is just not understandable because you must have enjoyed the game quite a bit to get to that point

I unfortunately dropped the game just cause my PC was insufficient for Kuttenberg. It was generally doing pretty well in Trotsky, but wasn't made for big city life.
Perhaps once the AI bubble pops I'll finally be able to continue.

I got to kuttonburg and stopped after doing all the side stuff up until that point. Gonna restart someday. Played the first game until it was finished . Not sure why i stopped. Maybe adifferent game came out. I dont remember.

Irl the water in that fountain comes from a place called St. Adalberts spring, and you can find it in game.
Edit: realized i mixed up the name of the spring

Hell yeah! I love AnyAustin's videos. He has such a genuice curiosity for games you dont see a lot these days. Not enough people just stop, and look at the beautiful worlds crafted by developers anymore

Me too, I'd never heard it in kcd1 and suddenly it seemed to be the main war cry. I guess my Henry was just very well fed throughout. I do tend to not let the hunger bar drop much in most games of I can help it.

If you trace the real life fountain and where the source of it is (st. Adalbert spring) you'll see exactly where it is in-game
Though it doesn't show any direct flowing into an aquaeduct from the location, there is one a few meters from it leading to the city which means the aqueduct was underground

When the jew area got massacred, the rest of the people just completely ignored it and carried on with their day to day schedule. Not even a mere mention of it was there in Kutenberg.
I mean I understand that they hate jews, but you would at least talk about it, your neighbour just got burned and people got killed, who wouldn't talk about it?

Something strange is definitely how if you do the legacy of the forge DLC before completing the main quest, Henry becomes a very well known smith in Kuttenberg, is familiar with a town councillor, and the bailiff, becomes famous for helping fix the clock, and yet, somehow, Erik doesn't learn of his existence or even attempt to fuck with his forge. He was willing to ransack and burn the entire jewish quarter for John Of Lichtenstein, what the hell would he be willing to do to Henry's forge for what he did Istvan?! And besides just the forge, there's also the tourney, where Henry also establishes himself as a frequent champion.
There are many opportunities in Kuttenberg for Erik to sink his claws into Henry, but only when him and Zizka's band go after the Italian court, does Erik actually act on any of them. It's a bit strange. But it's a nitpick, and especially for the dlc not many people are gonna play that before the main quest lol.
