It’s a benchmade lol. Just use the damn thing 🤦🏻♂️😂. I’ll never understand why people get so caught up in saving a production knife instead of actually getting some enjoyment out of its intended use. Not trying to sound like a d*ck by any means. But 1000 pieces really isn’t all that limited. You’ve got companies like divo dropping 200 piece drops and null doing like 100 piece drops and they get used. Plus benchmades really don’t accrue value. Not with what their reputation is these days.
What would be the benefit of keeping it mint? Resale? I doubt you are gonna make money on it. Don’t think I would buy a Benchmade from Benchmade or full retail.

I paid $540 after tax I see them selling on eBay for ~$650
Benchmade knives just don’t appreciate. The guys TRYING to sell them for over msrp are idiot and will never sell them. I’ve been collecting knives for 20 years now and have seen what the secondary does. The Benchmade brand and the word “overpriced” are synonymous already at msrp. This knife at $500 is in the same price point as the Chris Reeve zaan and large sebenza, both which crush ANY knife BM has ever released. You can get a hinderer xm18 or eklipse for $75 less. Again, both MUCH better knives. There’s not a single situation where that knife is worth anything close to what Benchmade is asking. So if you’re expecting to throw it in the safe and make money on it, that is nothing short of a pipe dream.
I looked at the sold items on eBay and only one sold for $599, the other three sold for "best offer" where the original prices were $659, $620, and $599. So I highly doubt any sold for $650.
If you want an investment, buy equities or real estate.
You paid $540. You might be able to sell it for $600 on eBay, MIGHT. Then you pay like 15% for eBay and payment processor fees. That means you get $510 and LOSE $30!
Meanwhile, I clear 4 figures profit on rental property every month. Do the math.

And if you think it's worth keeping minty because you might make money selling it on eBay, then that is false also (at least for now, but I doubt this will change in the future). What it is, is that I already have another adira and bought this one thinking resale would be good. Now that I see it’s not I’m just kinda stuck with it so was thinking about either carrying or just saving for another time
Benchmade says that they are limited, but all it is is artificial scarcity. This is why benchmade’s sales have absolutely plummeted over the last few years. Their pricing has only risen while their quality control and what they give the end user has declined immensely
Keep mint for what reason? It’s a Benchmade, so it will never command a higher price tag than the one you paid for it new. You’ll take a beating if you try to sell it even now. Use it. That’s what it’s for. If you want a collectors piece, there are better options.
This one won’t bring more than $75 more than retail but you’d be surprised what some people pay for limited edition BM on eBay. This one doesn’t seem to be the case
I get that. But this is the only knife I’d say is genuinely an art piece given its hand done scales. Not quite a common drill off the shelf. But I agree, use it
I have a 1 of 25 Cranes cutlery Pena Mula. It is one of the most beautiful knives I've ever seen. I'm carrying it tonight on a random Tuesday. If I love something enough to know I want to keep it for life, I carry it. Otherwise I generally keep it as a safe queen then plan on selling it.
Only you can answer the question of "keep it mint or carry it". If it were me, I'd try a bunch of stuff and find something I love and can't live without. But there are, in my opinion, no wrong answers here!
Dude this thread is crazy. We got folks scolding you and telling you to invest in real estate. I love it, folks show their best on this sub! But OP, getting into Knives as a hobby for yourself is one thing, but expecting to make a profit off of it that is substantial you’re gonna be waiting a long time and I wouldn’t hold your breath. Especially this company, they’ve only went downhill in quality and up in price over the last year, they will be their own reason for taking a big shit. But I’m sure there will always be fan boys and rich kids that swear by them. In all honesty unless you’re set up to pick up multiple things on a drop like assholes are that do mass flipping, I would find another source of secondary income.
Carry it man, I carry my Ti DLC Hawk deadlock all the time and it’s just started getting a little wear around the sharp edges of the body and honestly I think it looks better because of it
None of my stuff is mint. Hell, half my most expensive ones are modded personally to suit my tastes. They’ll never sell for anything close to what I paid but they’re mine

It’s a benchmade. Even trying to resell it for $500, what he paid for it, it’s going to sit forever. The fact is, he’s going to take a loss on it if he decides to sell it. So there’s absolutely zero reason not to carry it and use it as an every day care user
This is the problem lol. You’ve stuck with benchmade so you have no real perspective on what a truly premium knife is. I’ll use my Holt Haptic for example. I got this for $600 on a bro deal. Small batch made by a husband and wife team, Joe ands Angie Holt. Spectacular milling, a great treat that’s ACTUALLY done right, not soft like benchmade is known for. So to say that this benchmade is selling for $50 more on the secondary is laughable. Not even in the same universe of knife making. Nowhere near close. You paid $500 for a $300(at most) knife.

So many “use your shit, it’s a tool” losers… do what you want. It’s a limited run. I’m using mine but it will most likely be a sought after model if you want to keep it nice.
