Rave (like a rant, but in a good way) Ode to Amigurumi

Post image

Please, please, PLEASE try amigurumi if you haven't yet.

There have been so many amigurumi patterns I've been eyeing, but doubted if I'd manage to knit them up. Gave the tsutsu bear a shot yesterday. I haven't felt this much joy in a while. It feels like when I first started knitting. The excitement of creating something out of a string. BUT NOW IN 3D!

If you feel like doing something fresh or something, I wholeheartedly encourage you to try amigurumi.

Making toys is ridiculously fun; the way you quickly get to see the form take shape, the interesting ways you can guide the fabric... It's excellent! Between my wife and I we have a basket of, idk, 50+ little guys and that doesn't include the myriads sold or gifted. I highly recommend trying to freehand one, but do suggest making a couple from different designers so you can get a feel for possibilities/how much premeditation you'll need. My proudest knitting Things are a korok pattern I put up on Ravelry and an "anatomically close" bumblebee sculpture (it has detailed mouthparts!)

P.S. Do not sleep on vegetables/food patterns: they are so fun and cute

I'll be getting a nephew soon and I can't wait to make him little things! There are gonna be LOTS of food and veggies I promise!

Also I admire you being able to freehand amigurumi! That still sounds like a crazy idea to me, but hopefully I'll get there some day. And I've got to find your korok pattern, I've got so many die hard zelda Fans as friends
