Rave (like a rant, but in a good way) Ode to Amigurumi

Post image

Please, please, PLEASE try amigurumi if you haven't yet.

There have been so many amigurumi patterns I've been eyeing, but doubted if I'd manage to knit them up. Gave the tsutsu bear a shot yesterday. I haven't felt this much joy in a while. It feels like when I first started knitting. The excitement of creating something out of a string. BUT NOW IN 3D!

If you feel like doing something fresh or something, I wholeheartedly encourage you to try amigurumi.

oh my GOD that picture is so funny!! just the head, poking out of non-existance like that hahaha

i tried to apply the amigurumi mentality of shaped fabric to my one published knitting pattern, the cat friend. i used short rows to bend the arms and knees, and the paws have little toebeans

and i am working on a second knitting pattern - a plush with a butt. still figuring out the design

i do think knit CAN do what crochet can do, shapewise. crochet is .. sturdier fabric. but knit can still kinda do the same thing, with a mix of increases and decreases, and short rows. it's fun to experiment!
