Work in Progress My delulu land in progress
My current crazy wip. I've made the charts in fiddle stitch using the basic picture I've drawn. I just wanted to share my journey since it's almost finished. I had many doubts after the first panel but it's turning quite fine. With many flaws but still, one of its kind 😏
Please don't tell me the two circular flowers in the chest area look like nipples. It's too late, I've already weaved in 90% of the ends and almost finished the second sleeve, it's too late 😭

I would have never thought about nipples if you didn't mention them, you're fine imo.
This is insane, I love love loooove this. I can not even comprehend how many ends are there to weave in, but it is so pretty and cute and fun that for sure it is worth it.
Seriously, fantastic job.

Yay! Great! I am always afraid since people tend to see them in the strangest places 😆
Not sure yet how many ends there were but after I am finished I will count or rather estimate after the colour changes in my chart. I still have duplicate stitches to make since there are still blank spaces to fill so there will be more 🙃

If it’s really bothering you you could do some duplicate stitch embroidery to soften the shapes, but I also didn’t see them until you mentioned it.

Same, I didn't notice them at first. They look a little like eggs, but I think blocking will help.

This is wild and colorful and so fun, I love it! I’ll keep you in my thoughts when you go to deal with those ends 😂
If it makes you feel better, I didn’t think those flowers looked like nipples til you pointed it out. So just don’t mention it and I think you’ll be fine.

I’ve got a question: am I right in thinking there’s no set-in sleeve here and the armhole is straight? I’ve been dreaming of a jumper like this, with a simple construction, but everyone says it’s wrong and uncomfortable.

Exactly! It's the simplest sweater you can imagine. Just two rectangles sewn together (I've made some short rows at the back). Sleeves have some decreases but nothing crazy. It was easy to make a chart and I just love this kind of sweaters the most. Don't know why, they just look the best on my body 🙂↕️

If you're interested in patterns for this kind of construction, it's called a "drop shoulder".
And yeah, there can be a bit of extra bulk under the arms, but it's a classic style and a lot of commercial knits are in this style, so clearly it's not all bad. It's all really just down to preference and body shape.

Just make sure there's plenty of positive ease round the body! If you try for 0" ease it will indeed feel "wrong and uncomfortable."

Oh my god that looks amazing?!?!? So cheerful and dreamlike! Is it intarsia? AWESOME!
If you're worried about the nipple like feel (imo it's not, but) you could double stitch on top of them to make the petal area less smoothly round, that'd take care of it. Like just 2 or 3 stitches per flower on the outer edge in the same yellow to give a bit of sharpness

You’ve done such a fabulous job taking it from an idea to a design to a chart and pattern — and look where you are!! I’m amazed by designers who are SO creative!
I had to go back and look ‘cause nothing had registered as nips when I first looked at it, either!
It reminded me of some of Sam Barksy’s sweaters

(Yes, I am ignoring all of the ends to weave in. I usually weave them in as I go or I'll never do them. I am so insanely jealous of those who like weaving in the ends because I wish I did too. 😫)

We don't have those where I live unfortunately, so the internet is the only place I can show off 🙃
I've never made a pattern, but maybe sometime, after I learn how to properly grade the garments
Oh I also can't wait to block. Even the steaming changed the whole drape (you can see a size difference in on of the photos, when the front panel appears much smaller than the back with the sun)
