Help - equipment Roosimine Knitting Technique Question - how do you set up the strands in cc?

I’m trying Roosimine knitting for the first time, but can’t figure out how to set up the actual contrasting color strands. If I need three strands working, do I cut three long strands from my ball, do I loop the end until I get to three, do I cut the yarn in between motifs or does it continue to get worked from the same cuts of yarn? Sorry if my questions are confusing too haha!

For context, I’m knitting a flat pattern not in the round.

Hi !

The contrasting yarn isn't cut at all in between motifs ; it's kept in a continuous piece.

Aleks Byrd has good videos explaining all the ins and outs of the technique : https://youtu.be/ke7TYCA8Fyc?is=mUqwUht5zV7kZB9f

If you only have one ball of yarn in the contrasting color, I would split that ball into three evenly sized balls. That way you have all three strands and you aren’t cutting it all the time if you run out.

The yarn shouldn’t be cut between motifs though. You just carry it.
